25.01.2022 A little whisper coming out of Lake Purrumbete this morning is there was a Golden Tag caught brown trout this morning.. Congrats to the lucky angler that caught it, i bet he is feeling pretty happy about it right now knowing he is now 10k richer.. Get out to regional victoria and try your luck at catching one of these golden tagged fish worth 10k or even one of the tagges 2k fish.. There has been plenty stocked into our lakes and river across the whole state.. Details of how ...many and where the fish have been places is below. Good luck to all out there on the hunt for one of these little tagged jackpots. See more

19.01.2022 Tigers all round.. Last night my girlfriend Corina joined me for a fish at lake purrumbete as it had been a while since her last trip so we were keen to get her out on the water for a session finally.. It was pretty fresh with a southerly breeze so we tucked into a sheltered bank and began throwing some D&A Lures bent minnows around, it didnt take to long and i managed the first fish being only a little tacker but gave an absolute awesome account for him self.. was only aroun...d 30cm or so and fat as mud.. Not to long aftermy fish, Corina had her bent minnow smashed and then it was on, this fish screamed line off the reel on hook up, then had 2-3 jumps clean out of the water, Went under the boat, done a lap of the boat, had another big run before finally tiring out and coming to the net.. This fish was quickly measured at 47cm then released to grow and fight another day.. I think i have found my new favourite freshwater species.. These fish are plain and simply Awesome.. I still have a few charters left if anyone is interested Tuesday 4-8.30pm $150pp Wednesday 7-11.30am $150pp 4-8.30pm $150pp You can inbox the page or call/text Mick on 0402347515 Cheers

18.01.2022 Lake Purrumbete Gold.. I love watching these big browns swim back to the depths to grow even bigger and hopefully fight another day. Im all for people keeping a fish for a feed, there is nothing wrong with it at all, So long as you abide by the rules and regs on limits its perfectly fine for people to take a feed home to the family.. I myself dont mind a feed of reddies or a smoked trout or salmon now and then. But as much as i love a feed of fish I also love seeing these big... browns go back to grow even bigger, to keep the population of big browns in strong numbers and also to help continue creating the trophy Brown Trout fishery this lake has been known of for so long and hopefully continues to be known for in the decades to come, which im sure it will as our fisheries stockings continue to be bigger, better and stronger each year.. Its exciting times ahead for these Crater lakes i no that for sure.

17.01.2022 Had young Imogen and her dad Nathan on board this arvo and managed to dodge most of the storm but got chased off the water by it in the end just as we cracked the code on a few Reddies...41 and 43 cm plus a couple of smaller ones and Imogen managed to also land a small rainbow and a long neck tortoise which were both released unharmed .....Great fun but I like lightning and thunder as much as I like snakes ! Not at all...see what tomorrow morning brings !

15.01.2022 Yesterday Trevor Holmes, young Dusty and myself hit Lake Purrumbete to see if we could pick up a trout and maybe a reddie or two for a feed. We hit the water by 6am, things started out a little slow for us but with plenty of moving about and persistence we got the results.. Trev picked up his first tiger trout, be it a smaller model he was pretty chuffed to get one, I picked up a nice buck brown of 6.5lb 65cm and we also managed a nice bag of reddies for dinner.. Dusty had th...e navigation sorted for us while we fished, with his full attention and eyes watching the surroundings at all times Turned out to be a top morning on the water with my old mate Trev and young Dusty. 11.01.2022 Yesty arvo I thought I had better take young Rexy Boy out for one last crack at a fish before we finished up this trip at the Crater Lakes as it will be a month or so until we get back into charters again.. I think he was pretty happy with the result for the arvo, but somehow i dont think this will keep him satisfied for to long and he will be getting all frustrated with not being out on the water He loves this fishing gig more then me i reckon, he cant get enough of it... haha.. We ended this weeks trip on a high for the little man with this beaut hen brown going 61cm and 6.5lb on the flavour of the month the D&A Lures bent minnow in the smelt pattern.. For anyone wanting to book a charter in the coming weeks ahead you can call/text Mick on 0402347515 or inbox the page. As i mentioned in previous posts over the last week or so and as above, I wont be doing any charters for the next 3-4 weeks give or take.. BUT when we return it will hopefully be with a nice little surprise for all to see Also over the last couple of weeks i have had calls, texts and inbox messages on the page in regards to where people can get there hands on the D&A Lures bent minnows.. And the simple answer to that is this.. Look up there page on here and inbox them direct and they will post them out to you asap Or Lake Purrumbete holiday park now also sells them in the park tackle store/office. Just ask for them at the front desk. Happy fishing Cheers

The guys had a cracking arvo on the water and went home with a good feed of fish to share with there family and friends. Cheers ...guys AVAILABLE CHARTERS THIS WEEK ONLY If anyone would like to do a charter this week at the Crater lakes I am booked but Trevor Holmes is available for a couple of sessions in the second boat ( my old boat) at the Crater Lakes. 10.01.2022 A bit of late night action at Lake Purrumbete last night. I arrived at the park around 6pm unloaded the car, got the gear sorted for the boat and i was on the water around 7.30pm I fished till after dark sometime, and with the full moon on the verge i thought id try my theory of the big browns feed after dark under a moon lit sky and the idea paid off for me. D&A bent minnow in the black with orange belly colour getting the job done this time.. Beautiful conditioned buck that... went 69cm and 8lb 9oz. I still have a few charter sessions available from this arvo through till next wednesday for anyone keen to come down and get out for a fish. 06.01.2022 I had Ash onboard for the morning session today, He was keen to land his first trout from purrumbete and if we had time possibly chase a couple of reddie as well.. We managed to get both of his requests done in fine form... We started out chasing a trout for him and got it done after the first hour or so on the water and what a ripper fish it was to be his first. 65cm 6.5lb hen brown trout.. Congrats mate well done,. We then went and chased a few reddies for him to take home ...for a feed and we boated around 25 for the remainder of the session.. Great morning on the water. Cheers See more

06.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR Happy new year to all far and wide may the fishing gods be kind to you all and help you land bigger and more fish and tick off any fishing goals you have set yourself. Stay safe and have a good one I missed a couple of days worth of fish posts as I have been flat out with charters and busy in between.... Here are a few pics from the last couple of days worth of charters at the crater lakes.. Mark and Janine with a gift voucher from there daughter making the most of their holidays and getting into some redfin action.. alot of smaller reddies plagued us but they managed to take home a nice feed. Paul was after a trout or salmon as he had never caught one from these lakes so we tried for a salmon first up and got paul into one we then tried for a brown with a few missed opportunities we couldnt get one to stick.. Jason jumped on for an arvo session in search of a trout or salmon, we found a small school of salmon and managed to get a window of bites resulting in 2 salmon and a nice reddie boated. I also had a session free to myself so i shot out to try get into some numbers of reddies, i managed to find a couple of decent schools of fish with mixed sized reddies for the taking and a by catch of a small chinook as a bonus. Cheers guys I have a few sessions available this coming week, mostly morning sessions free during the week and have all sessions free for next weekend at the Crater Lakes before taking off to Lake Eildon for a couple of weeks worth of charters. I will post up available sessions left for the Crater Lakes later today, for anyone interested you can inbox me on the page or you can call/text Mick 0402347515 Cheers

04.01.2022 I got out this morning for another solo session on purrumbete, hit the water around 6.30-7am plenty of fish moving around on the top so if they are on top my lure will be on top.. Another D&A bent minnow getting it done for me.. This time it was a perch colour i had custom painted for me to test out and first time using it proved it was a great colour pattern. 54cm 1.89kg Rainbow.. Man do these things give you some curry for there size..... It would have jumped clean out the water by 3ft atleast 10 times before i got it to the net. Nice plump condition and super fit going by its attempts to try be free from my lure.. I still a few charters available over the next few days up until wednesday.. This will be my last lot of charters for a month or so. Anyone keen for a session inbox the page or you can call/text Mick on 0402347515 To make an enquiry or booking.
