25.01.2022 Some lovely nuggets 'full of character' have been found last week in the Kalgoorlie area, Western Australia. Photo credit: Finders Keepers, Kalgoorlie.

24.01.2022 Paul, one of our members brought along his Keene Engineering dry blower to camp. He gave us a running demonstration as we took advantage of the dry conditions. Basically, a dry blower allows the process of gold extraction without the need of water. Widely used in some dryer parts of Australia which have little rainfall.

24.01.2022 This season the Poseidon Crew discover the BIGGEST gold nugget in the show's history!

23.01.2022 This huge chunk of gold was found by a couple of prospectors in 2004 north of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

21.01.2022 Our club newsletter is now available to our paying members. It will have full details and maps to future gold prospecting camps. Thanks to editor Gary for another fantastic newsletter!

20.01.2022 On behalf of the Victorian Seekers Club, we would like to congratulate Andrew Bales in being host for the television series The Weekend Prospector. Andrew is a good friend of the club and has attended our meetings as a guest speaker. We would like to wish Andrew all the very best with the tv episodes.

19.01.2022 Our club's prospecting camp will be starting tomorrow in Inglewood, details can be found in the clubs newsletter. Thursdays forecast is for some rain, however the rest of the long weekend is going to be brilliant with temperatures in the mid 20's and mostly sunny. The Wedderburn Detector Jamboree is also on during this weekend and is only a short 20 minute drive from camp. Hope we see you there!

19.01.2022 Important notice from our club President: You will have all seen the latest announcements from the Prime Minister and Premier. While the message was not directed at camping / caravaning etc they are saying we are all to: Avoid unnecessary travel (stay at home unless going to work or shopping or its an emergency...)... * Don't plan on normal holidays. * Keep your kids at home if they are not going to school. * Stay in your local suburb. * Don't meet up in groups for dinners, parties, watching footy. The dinner party where 1 person passed on the virus to 10 people and the wedding where 30 odd guests were infected is testament to how virulent this virus is. For those thinking they might still go to the Fryerstown oval it is more than possible that a local could complain and the Police could get involved. This could reflect badly on the club. For these reason the committee believe The VSC should NO longer proceed with our monthly outings until further notice. This includes the June Tibooburra trip, but it may take place later in the year (as late as Sep). Please also be advised that with the cancellation of outings, members are no longer covered by our public liability insurance. The committee will stay in contact and I will still send out a monthly update or sooner if there is good news. Unfortunate news but this is a case of better safe than sorry. regards, Paul Hart. Victorian Seekers Club President

18.01.2022 During the January club camp, we were lucky enough to be invited onto a working lease ownded by Terry in the Talbot area. Here are some videos of Terry's gold lease at work and finding some gold.

13.01.2022 The corona virus is a respiratory illness, which means it typically spreads via airborne droplets. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, droplets carrying viral particles can land on someone else's nose or mouth or get inhaled. But a person can sometimes get the coronavirus if they touch a surface or object that has viral particles on it and then touch their mouth, nose, or eyes. The life span of the virus on a surface depends on myriad factors, including the surrounding... temperature, humidity, and type of surface. You should continue to encourage good hygiene practices as this is the most effective way of minimising the spread of COVID-19. * Covering your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue. * Disposing of tissues. * Properly washing your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet. * Using alcohol-based hand sanitiserscleaning and disinfecting surfaces. * If you are sick, avoiding contact with others and staying more than 1.5 metres away from people. * cleaning and sanitising frequently used objects such as mobiles, keys and wallets.

12.01.2022 A great short documentary about the small mining town of Llanlley and it's golden history situated just north of Tarnagulla in Victoria.

12.01.2022 Raymo and the crew from The Historical Mine Shaft Chasers explore a massive gold mine on a private property in Yan Yean, south of Whittlesea. Watch as they explore the mine to uncover some old relics from the past.

11.01.2022 Such sad news of the passing of Rita Bentley. Many of us from the Seekers know Rita on a personal level and she will be sadly missed.

11.01.2022 A chunky 19 oz Victorian nugget being gifted to it's new lucky owner. Found with a GPX5000 using a Nugget Finder 19 Evolution coil.

11.01.2022 So it's begun.. Prospector fined 6/04/2020 near Maryborough. One of our committee was notified by Parks Vic. As far as we know, NOT a PMAV member. If it offe...nds you that I called this guy an idiot, it because he is. From the reactions I never knew so many tough prospectors would get offended by that word, but If I see a fish, I will call it a fish. The PMAV, media, Federal and State governments have all advised that non-essential travel is restricted. We fought to have local prospectors exempt from any ban and were told NO it is a 'blanket ban', so don't shoot the messenger. STAY HOME or prospect on your land #InThisTogether See more

10.01.2022 Please do the right thing and stay home.

10.01.2022 Beautiful weather here at the Seekers camp in Inglewood. Don't be fooled ... if it's raining down in Melbourne, the conditions here are sunny with blue skies. Perfect for getting away over the long weekend.

10.01.2022 Dear fellow Seekers, When refueling up at the service station, please insure that you are wearing some protective gloves to reduce any risk of contracting the virus.

10.01.2022 Well done to Jim who broke the 12 month drought finding gold again during the Inglewood camp. Needless to say he is a happy chap. Also we like to congratulate Darren a new (and excited) member to the Seekers Club finding a 1.3 gram nugget.

10.01.2022 Make sure you tune into the new edition of 'The Weekend Prospector' next weekend as our close friend Andrew Bales is the new presenter of the show. Not to be missed.

08.01.2022 Most of us have watched on Foxtel, Parker Schnabel in Gold Rush filmed in the Yukon, Canada. This season Parker has mined over 6,000 ounces from his claim. The exciting news is that Parker and his film crew recently visited Victoria filming an episode called 'Parkers Trail'. You'll recognize some local sites he visits around the golden triangle.

05.01.2022 The Australian Gold Prospectors Expo is on the 28th - 29th March.

04.01.2022 Brilliant documentary about the Grasberg gold mine located in a remote part of Papua. It is the largest gold mine, and second largest copper mine in the world. Learn how early geologists found the rich deposit of gold and copper and witness the transformation of the mine taking shape. The location of the Grasberg mine is 14,000 feet high on sheer cliff faces proved a huge challenge. You'll be amazed how equipment is transported up 30% skinny road gradients with sheer drops to the valley below. Enjoy!
