We get to celebrate with you all and crown our winners. We will, however, still be running the Salami Competition for 2020. Thats right. The salami smack down is on! ... 21.01.2022 We were very impressed with the quality that was made this year. It’s obviously been a good year for a lot of people. James Mele, @themeatroom Judges were blown away with the quality of salami that were entered this year. Choosing a winner was no easy feat and came with a lot of toing and froing and going back for second, third and fourth helpings just to be sure.... There will be a competition in 2020. Michael, James and I were chatting and we thoughtWith so many events and occasions in the world being cancelled, we couldn’t stand the thought of a year going by without finding out who makes the best salami in Australia.... This year however there will be a few changes to the event. This year we will unfortunately not have the long lunch. I know, I know, it breaks our heart also. This is one of the best things about the competition. We love catching up with all of you, salami faithful the salami army if you will and comparing notes. We will however still be holding the judging to find out who is the king or queen of salami! Will Travis have the goods to defend his title? Or has he lost his mojo? Only time will tell. Owner, James Mele, is passionate about meat, and loves to travel to meet farmers, producers and fellow foodies. James is fanatical about traditional Italian food. Many an hour has been spent with his extended family learning the art of salami and sausage making as well mastering passata, pizza and winemaking. James’s passion and dedication to his craft has seen... our Fennel Salami and Zingara Salami awarded Silver Medals at the Australian Food Awards 2019. James constantly seeks to master and build on his skills, whilst also striving to innovate. He frequently travels both locally and internationally to Italian food festivals to uncover new ways of preserving, preparing and cooking.
