22.01.2022 Meet Vicki! Vicki is one of our amazing volunteers and has been working on how to make use of the space from a visual, interactive and spatial point of view, taking into account the different types of uses each space may present. So, interior design coupled with usability, linking back to the core tenants of The Village Project. Vicki has always been interested in how a blank canvas can be activated into a thriving and dynamic space with purpose. She sees The Village Project ...as a great opportunity to be involved in something like this on such a large scale with a passionate and knowledgeable group of people. Thank you Vicki for all of your creativity, energy and passion for the project and our community! In her spare time Vicki is also a custom cake maker, creating stunning and delicious edible pieces of art, which you can see here https://www.facebook.com/vickimeintjessweetmaker To find out more about becoming a volunteer head over to https://www.thevillageproject.org.au/volunteering/ or drop us a line at [email protected]

12.01.2022 A huge thank you to all who came by to our Glass and Clothing Waste Collection Event on Saturday, to drop off items. We haven't managed to weigh everything yet but we can tell you that we filled an entire truck with just the clothing! We are very excited to see all of these items be diverted from landfill and given a brand new life. So what will happen to all of these items? ... All of the glass and clothing we collected, along with the unusable windows from our building that will soon be removed, will be sent to the team at The SMaRT Centre, at UNSW. Prof. Veena and her team have developed a revolutionary technology that converts glass and textile waste into beautiful tiles, furniture and splashbacks. The most amazing thing is that every item you dropped off at the event will be used to make tiles and furniture for OUR building! So, once we are open, you will be able to walk into the building and see your items transformed into tiles and furniture that will be used in our bathrooms, kitchens, cafe, offices and more. In the meanwhile, you can head to https://www.smart.unsw.edu.au/ to find out more about the work that The SMaRT Centre do. A huge thank you also to our dedicated team of volunteers who made this event possible. -- CONTACT US www.thevillageproject.org.au [email protected]
