22.01.2022 When Peter was 15 years old and living on the streets, his local Vinnies shop helped provide him with food and talked to him about his housing options. "I went there a couple of times and got food parcels. They really tried hard to help me out and get me off the streets," said Peter. Then a few years later he had a security business, a partner and a child. Peter felt like his life was good until his child got sick with a rare tumour. They had to move house to be closer to med...ical help and things worsened from there. The home they rented was not what they thought, they had plumbing issues, their oven blew up and with no phone or internet connection running the business became harder and business dried up. Peter then reached out to Vinnies again, with positive memories of how volunteers had helped him in the past. "We came over with a bit of food and some school uniforms. We then worked on trying to get them out of that house and into a better place," said Vinnies volunteer Ian. Peters family have now moved into a new place with a phone line and internet, working plumbing and oven. The business has picked up and their future is looking bright. Stories like Peters arent foreign to Vinnies and its why we need your help, please donate to the Vinnies CEO Sleepout and help more families like Peters https://bit.ly/I_Want2_Help

17.01.2022 The Matthew Talbot Hostel in Wickham is one of the many services run by Vinnies that supports people who have fallen on hard times. For Danny, it was a sanctuary that helped him to get back on his feet. "[The hostel] was the first step towards self-care, love for myself - the basic stuff you need to have empathy for people, moral boundaries of what is good and right and what is wrong ... It gave me a place to personally mend and heal from trauma."... Danny is one of the thousands of people we have been able to assist thanks to the generosity of everyone who has donated to the Vinnies CEO Sleepout over the years. Now more than ever people are in need of support. Help to change a life for the better by donating or signing up https://bit.ly/HelpFightHomelessness.
