24.01.2022 Final inspection before departing CFCLA Goulburn, heading to Thirlmere to join the other 12 carriages that make up a strengthened ex-Southern Aurora set of 16 carriages (the original was 14 carriages).

21.01.2022 There’s been some great footage being shared of the trial run from Thirlmere to Sydney Terminal and return by the professionals at Transport Heritage NSW. It’s very humbling to see the regard that this train is held in. Not long to go now until 9:39 next Wednesday!

19.01.2022 Gorgeous day for a visit to Mayfield Garden. LVR’s 4204 ‘Grandma’ is in fine form at the head of the ‘Aurora Australis’ as we travel from Orange to Bathurst. This is the horseshoe curve near Blayney.

17.01.2022 Here are some guests thanking the crew in one of our Dining Carriages. Chef Belinda, Assistant Alison, and waiters Richard and Brett. They created wonders from that 60 year old kitchen! Sounds like the guests agree!

12.01.2022 An exciting milestone today - our newly refurbished Roomettes 2348 & 2372, Twinette 2335 and luggage van 2366 departing Goulburn Locomotive Roundhouse, shortly to head to the NSW Rail Museum, Thirlmere. They will then join our other 4 restored Twinette carriages and 8 of Transport Heritage NSW ex-Southern Aurora carriages, to make up the 16 carriage consist for the Golden West Rail Tour 11-15 November 2020. A huge vote of thanks to the Goulburn Locomotive Preservation Society, CFCLA and K&H Ainsworth Engineering who have hosted/engineered the 4 carriages for the last year while the work has been undertaken. This makes way for our next 4 carriages to be restored back to operation.

09.01.2022 Ready for the ‘off’, waiting to depart Thirlmere.

07.01.2022 Our roomette (single) carriages are proving very popular with solo travellers - especially as we don't charge a single supplement. We have just refurbished two of our roomette carriages, including converting 2 of the cabins to create roomy shared bathrooms (shower/toilets) and expanding what was formerly the conductors toilet at the other end of the carriage. The shared bathrooms are managed by your guest attendant, who will ask you your preference for shower time (morning or... evening), so that you never have to wait in a queue. The modified carriages had their debut on our Golden West Rail Tour 11-15 November 2020, and were very well received by our guests.

04.01.2022 The next phase of our carriage restoration is about to start - our Dining Carriage, RMS 2360, one of only 3 survivors, is shunted in the yard of Canberra Railway Museum today. The restorations of these historic carriages are made possible by your bookings on our rail tours, for which we are very grateful. Five carriages will be transferred to Goulburn Locomotive Roundhouse today by Sydney Rail Services/Chicago Freight Car Leasing (Australia). Twinette NAM 2367 will be one of ...the first carriages to be restored - we have sold out the Twinette compartments on a lot of our departures for 2021. We hope to have this carriage in operation by September 2021, if not earlier, and this will take our capacity to 156 guests.
