25.01.2022 A 1960s teak and blackwood dining table, from the "Fler 64" range by Fred Lowen for Fler. Fully rebuilt and repolished. A large 6 to 8 seater , this is one of the most attractive Australian min-century dining tables. Measures 134cm long 90 wide and 73 high when closed and extends to 222cm. Sold.

24.01.2022 Lamps and Lighting

24.01.2022 A 1960s long and low blackbean chest of drawers probably made in Brisbane by Don Rex (or possibly by DQF). Totally refinished and measuring 167cm long 45 deep and 65 high. $995.

23.01.2022 A set of six Grant Featherston for Aristoc Scape dining chairs circa 1960. We restored these and offered them for sale around 12 years ago, to little interest. Since then theyve been put into reproduction by Gordon Mather and are being offered in New York at USD $1875 per chair. These have been brought out due to interest by a customer who gets first refusal, but if they decline, they will once more be on offer (for an awful lot less than $1875 each).Sold.

22.01.2022 A 1960s corner shelving unit in Tasmanian oak and Victorian mountain ash. Four levels with tapered supports and legs, measuring 105 cm high and 60 x 60 wide. $475.

22.01.2022 A 1950s veneered solid timber extension dining table probably by Bell Brothers of Brisbane. Victorian mountain ash and maple with played, tapered legs and a butterfly extension mechanism, refinished and in nice condition. Its marked with an Australian furniture makers registration (no.128), but I cant remember who that is. Measurements: 152 cm extended (107 closed), 76 tall and 90 wide. $795.

22.01.2022 A nest of three late sixties solid blackwood side-tables with tapered legs and shaped supports, no veneers, no chipboard. Largest table measures 49 cm tall 55 wide and 39 deep. Sold.

22.01.2022 A set of 1950s/60s home made solid Tassie oak bookshelves with splayed and tapered legs. Shed work for sure but stylish and with nice proportions. 93cm wide, 97 high and 30 deep, shelf height 26cm. $395.

22.01.2022 A pair of 1960s large teak bedside cabinets/ chests of drawers. Not sure if these were originally intended as bedsides, because they are quite large, but would certainly do the trick. Measuring 85cm tall, 45 wide and 44 deep. $895.

20.01.2022 A set of four restored and re-upholstered 1960s G-Plan (UK) Brasilia" dining chairs in teak and afromosia. Sold.

20.01.2022 It's not all about the Danish... This large, solid, American maple, six legged, drop-leaf dining table was manufactured in the US by Conant-Ball. It was designed in 1935 and is attributed to the master of American modernism, Russel Wright, as part of the American Modern series. Rare in America and possibly unique in Australia, it measures an unusually large 167cm long by 105 wide by 75 tall extended, folding down to a mere 43cm fully closed. It's perfect for those who want to entertain but have limited space or don't want to set aside a permanent dining room. $1250.

20.01.2022 An early sixties Victorian mountain ash record cabinet. Measures 79 cm tall, 37 deep and 76 wide. Sold.

20.01.2022 A late 50s solid myrtle chest of drawers by Burgess of Melbourne. While it looks like this is a set of nine drawers there are, in fact, only six! The left hand side drawers have a false dividing line and two differing handles to create an unusual symmetry. The "space age" handles and solid timber construction set this one aside from the pack. An unusual intermediate size at 138cm wide, 45 deep and 78 high: fully stripped and refinished. Sold.

19.01.2022 A pair of 1960s Tassie oak/Victorian mountain ash bedsides with turned, tapered and splayed copper capped legs, a single drawer and a bookshelf below. Each one measures 69 cm tall 35 deep and 44 wide.Sold.

19.01.2022 1950s early G-Plan (UK) dropleaf extension dining table by Ernest Gomme often attributed to the "Librenza" range. Mahogany top veneers and attractively sculptur...ed cross base give this one added character. A lightweight compact utility piece it measures 73cm tall and 83 by 73 cm closed, extending to 138 cm. $795 See more

19.01.2022 An early 50s sideboard/ cabinet by Fred Ward for Myer Heritage. Made from solid myrtle with "pinecone" handles and stubby, splayed and tapered legs, this cabinet displays the pared-back, simplified take on traditional pieces typical of early modernists such as Ward and Lucian Ercolani. Two drawers and a large cupboard under. It measures 97 cm tall, 107 wide and 41cm deep. $895.

18.01.2022 An early 60s teak tallboy/chest of drawers with recessed handles and tapered legs. A substantial size, measuring 91cm tall, 91 cm wide and 50 deep with no chipboard. $865

17.01.2022 Plenty more fresh stock this week: starting with this super cute 1950s quaver armchair with exotically-shaped, blackwood arms. We havent seen another like this: the seat area bears some resemblance to the "sleepy hollow" style made by Tandy in Melbourne, but the arched and sculpted arms/legs with atomic style cutouts are another thing altogether. Measures 60cm wide, 77 deep and 92 to the top of the back. Fully restored, re-upholstered and rebuilt. $845.

16.01.2022 Maybe the sweetest lounge setting made in Australia during the 1960s: we present here, the "Anita" suite by Danish Deluxe of Melbourne. Rarely seen in so complete a grouping (three seater sofa, two armchairs and a chrome based swivel chair, pictured in comments): this set has been rebuilt, re-polished and reupholstered in woven grey upholstery fabric with new cushions. The flared lines and sculptural blackwood base personify its time period (circa 1965). Measurements: couch, 195cm wide 76 deep and 85 to top of back, armchairs 80cm wide, 76 deep and 95 to top of back. Pricing: couch $2200, armchairs $895 each (one sold) , swivel chair $750. Discounts available for taking more than one piece.

13.01.2022 A 1950s/60s Tasmanian oak coffee table with maple legs and nice top grain. Measuring 90cm long 32 high and 44 wide. Sold.

12.01.2022 A nice large set of 1950s Queensland maple bookshelves with adjustable height top and bottom shelves. It measures 112cm high, 89 wide and 30 deep and features splayed and tapered legs in the style of Douglas Snelling. Sold.

12.01.2022 A 1960s Queensland maple framed small three seater sofa/couch rebuilt and repolished, with new foam and springing ready to go off to the upholsterer. With its dowelled back and sweeping arms this little beauty measures 167cm wide 80 deep and approx 75 to the top of the back. Fully finished with our choice of fabric it will be $1795. With your choice it will be $1625 plus the price of the fabric (around 8 metres). Or buy it as is now and work with your own upholsterer for $1250.

11.01.2022 Go Mod. Always the best idea. Jazz posters at the Vinyl Frontier. Left to right $150, $195 and $95.

11.01.2022 The new foam has arrived, the woodwork has been rebuilt and re-polished and soon this early 60s Fler surfboard back couch will be off to be upholstered. If you're interested in getting one of these Australian classic design pieces you still have a few days to influence the fabric choice before we do it.

11.01.2022 A good sized chest of drawers in Tassie oak and Victorian mountain ash dated 1964. Measures 83cm tall, 75 wide and 47 deep. Sold.

10.01.2022 Plenty more fresh stock this week: starting with this super cute 1950's 'quaver' armchair with exotically-shaped, blackwood arms. We haven't seen another like this: the seat area bears some resemblance to the "sleepy hollow" style made by Tandy in Melbourne, but the arched and sculpted arms/legs with atomic style cutouts are another thing altogether. Measures 60cm wide, 77 deep and 92 to the top of the back. Fully restored, re-upholstered and rebuilt. $845.

08.01.2022 An elegant, lowline chest of drawers/sideboard in afrormosia, oak and beech by Meredew (UK). Dated February 1962, this six drawer chest is certainly ahead of its time, with beautifully shaped "sleigh" legs predating those by Gerald Easden for Module that we usually see in Australia. Stripped and restored, but with some damage still evident to the top rear. Measuring 168cm long, 57 high and 46 deep. $995

07.01.2022 A huge late 50's/early 60's sideboard in blackbean and blackwood by Wonder Wedge. Little is known about this company who don't seem to have survived in production for very long. I've seen people say they were Qld based but I've also had pieces with labels that indicate they were made in Sydney. This one comes in at 2.1 meters long, with Danish-style recessed handles, contrasting edging and tapered "cigar" legs. Four drawers in the center with double door and shelved cupboards at either end. Restored, repaired and repolished: it measures 212cm long, 46 deep and 87 high. Sold.

07.01.2022 Fresh in is this English two metre sideboard in American walnut by Ernest Gomme, makers of the G-plan range. This elegant piece comes from the Collector range, circa 1964, with slightly more traditional styling and much higher build quality than G-plan. These are really quite rare. Solid timber and veneered solid timber throughout with brass handles, two double cupboards (with bi-fold doors) at either end and a part cupboard with two drawers behind the central two doors. Measures 2.06 metres long, 46cm deep and 80 high. $2200

This one comes in at 2.1 meters long, with Danish-style recessed handles, contrasting edging and tapered "cigar" legs. Four drawers in the center with double door and shelved cupboards at either end. 04.01.2022 1960s/70s bureau/cabinet/desk/cupboard in teak by Avalon Furniture (UK). There were companies called Avalon Furniture in many countries (Australia, the USA and the UK) but, as far as I know, all are unrelated. I believe this to be from the UK because of the materials used and because Avalon (UK) were the only company which really made cabinetry. Nicely figured teak with a cupboard underneath featuring a removable shelf, drop down upper door which becomes a writing surface and interior fitted letter racks and stationery storage. Unusually deep for a bureau, measuring 112cm tall, 81 wide and 43 deep. Sold

03.01.2022 A fully refurbished and re-upholstered 1960s Anstey "Armstrong" swivel chair with footstool. Brisbanes answer to the Eames 670. Supreme comfort at an affordable price. $995 for the set.

03.01.2022 A pair of 1960s genuine Parker (with labels) carver/occasional chairs in teak and reddish brown vinyl, based on a design by Finn Juhl. In excellent original condition, they have been cleaned and re-oiled, the seat covers removed for re-strapping and then replaced. We stock a large number of these in both carver and non-carver version and can refurbish a set to your taste if required. This pair $425 each.

02.01.2022 A 1960s/70s teak extension dining table and six chairs designed by Johannes Andersen and manufactured under license by D-Scan. Andersen produced designs to be manufactured by several different makers both within Denmark (principally Uldum Mobler and Silkeborg) and overseas (G-plan, Danish Deluxe and D-Scan among others). His designs are characterised by their superb build quality and sculptural shape. The table opens from a circle to oval with a drop-in extension and separating central plinth for stability. Made from solid teak with no veneers this means the top has to be somewhat thicker than a table with a board substrate. Shown here extended, the table measures 1.7 meters long (1.12 mtrs diameter closed) and 73cm high. $2000 for the set.
