24.01.2022 Facebook officially launches PODCASTS in the US this week. Great news for all podcasters! If you're a podcast host, you might want to enable the feature onc...e you get access. You may as well get more distribution and grow your audience! [I'll share about Facebook's Live Audio Rooms in a separate post]. Initially, Facebook has only made its podcast feature available to a select number of invite-only podcasters. However, it'll only be a matter of weeks that Facebook opens up the feature to more podcasters ... and then more broadly after that. You'll know when you have access as Podcasts will appear in your Facebook Page Settings. HOT TIP: if you have not yet shared a link to your podcast on your Facebook Page, I would get on to that pronto. That could help trigger the feature. Here's an important nugget excerpted from TechCrunch: "With the launch of the Facebook Podcast service, the company is asking podcast creators to give it permission to cache their content on Facebook’s servers, which we’re told is being done to ensure the content doesn’t violate Facebook’s Community Standards. However, because the podcasts are still being streamed via RSS feeds, they will be represented in the metrics provided by a podcaster’s hosting provider." That lets users share content from Spotify to Facebook. Whereas, the new podcast feature streams your podcast directly on Facebook via your public RSS feed (not delivered by Spotify). The miniplayer for podcasts on Facebook and the miniplayer for the Spotify listening integration look and behave very similarly.
