24.01.2022 Last week I mentioned something exciting was coming! Well its here This month I am so very proud to be featured in The Village, with a front cover spread no less The Village is the brainchild of the wonderfully talented Sally of Savvy Sally The Village is full of social media tips, inspo and real life people doing great things, like me! (This may have given me a nice ego boost today). Keeping up with changes to socials media channels and algorithms is pretty tiresome, bu...t The Village is seriously a good read and fun and comes with a handy content calendar (actually you get two this month) to help you plan your months content out. Trust me youll want to get your sanitised hands all over this, pop over to Savvy Sally and subscribe now to get your issue - link in her bio!

23.01.2022 So we are back in lockdown, not ideal but necessary if we are going to beat this damn thing. There are a number of initiatives in place to help support small businesses, Ill pop all the links in a post tonight to save you hunting. Poppy are generously offering free directory listing for the next 6 weeks to all local and online businesses in Melbourne. See the original post below for details.... Thanks so much Hey Poppy

21.01.2022 Have you been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or unmotivated? Its totally OK if you have, I know I have been. Weve never experienced change like this before, and it will take time for us to adjust to so many changes in such a short time. Its affecting every part of life and business. So much to worry about. ... Try not to give yourself a hard time and do what you need, whether thats resting, sleeping, dominating Netflix, crying or grieving for all that you are missing. Its okay to feel lost, sad, resentful, or even angry. I realised today that Ive had a little training for this, in a way, when I got sick with TN I had to greive the loss of my way of life, that things would never be the same. I focused on feeling those emotions today and its helped a bit with the overwhelm. So try not to push those emotions away as much, acknowledge them instead and dont be so hard on yourself. Dont stop connecting with others, social media is a shining light in lockdown. So many ways to connect and call, see our loved ones or have hang sessions with friends. Sending love stay safe

20.01.2022 Creativity isnt just about drawing! It isnt about art or design, writing or music. Creativity is, at its core, about ideas and how we develop, understand, and communicate them. Its an integral part of problem-solving and vital to your business regardless of industry. Creative thinking is a big part of doing what I do, from creating assets to writing copy and when I get stuck at work, I ask myself...... ? , ? , ?. We all have set ways when it comes to thinking about certain things and maybe that goes for our creativity too. Maybe when we are so overwhelmed from outside sources, we struggle to connect with the right questions to help us through it!? Id love to hear your thoughts on this or how you feel you use creativity in your role/business. #creativity #smallbusiness #wednesdaywisdom

19.01.2022 Going hard at it today even though Id rather be in bed there is one thing that drives me on... MY WONDERFUL CLIENTS! Im so very grateful to work with these wonderful women and even more so when Im unwell. They are caring and kind and make me feel so loved Its been a short week but has felt mega long. Easter was a much needed break but stopping seemed to tell my body it was OK to get sick. So Ive had a cold and then got hit with a migraine.... So heres a lesson not to push yourself so hard, be kind to yourself and listen to what your body needs. Then maybe you wont have to hide a huge pimple when you take a pic to show off your new double screen set up But Im really happy to have 2 screens again! Hows your week been? Whats made you feel gratitude lately?

19.01.2022 Guess whos made the cover?

18.01.2022 Struggling with time zones while working at home? Or connecting with friends and family across the globe? Then I have the chrome extension for you! With everything going on even simple tasks can feel like heavy lifting. Ive heard a few people say they are struggling with time zones so I had a hunt for a tool that might suit everyones needs and is convenient for everyone. Figure it Out, or FIO, beautifully displays the time zones you work and play in. A minimal time zone e...xtension that adds up to ten time zones of your choice to your new tab screen, making it easy to schedule meetings, connect with family and friends. You can also scroll to enjoy the gradients for a bit more colour in your day! Just search for Figure it Out or www.fioapp.co With added stress, its important to be mindful of the time zones your coworkers or loved ones are in and try to respect the time difference. Extra tip: Inconveniently timed meetings are unavoidable at the moment as theres still so much for sort out and organise, suggest to the team a rotation so it isnt always the same person having to be on a conference call at 1 or 4 a.m. local time

18.01.2022 Some helpful info and links on the JobKeeper payments from Alaco White A really helpful page to follow if you are in small biz and want to keep up to date

18.01.2022 Who else loves to bite the heads off their chocolate Easter bunnies? Wishing you all a Happy Easter!

17.01.2022 While this worldwide pandemic is uncharted territory for us all, working from home is something many of us have done before. I work from home so I thought it would be helpful to share some pointers with you. Choose a dedicated workspace. If you have a spare bedroom or an empty corner to set up a table and chair? While bedrooms are not ideal office spaces anywhere where you can be productive in a dedicated space is going to help you get in a routine and assist with some work/l...ife separation, considering youre going to be home a lot this is quite important to help you knock off at the end of the day. Set regular business hours. By setting these youre setting up your mindset as well as letting family/friends know that youd prefer not to be distracted during these times. Especially important if you have kids at home to care for. In a few days, youll develop your own routine for sticking to these hours and staying productive. Avoid at-home distractions. Inevitably, youll become distracted with household chores and before you know it time has flown by with nothing to show for it. You deserve breaks but stay focused so they dont fill with distractions. If noise is an issue try putting on a podcast, audiobook or wearing noise-cancelling headphones to block out the noise. Place your health as your top priority. Theres no excuse now for I dont have time for the gym, cooking etc. We dont that excuse anymore, so now its time to focus on YOU. Get up and move throughout the day. Take a walk around the block at lunchtime. Use a standing desk or walk more so you can burn more calories. Protect your mental health. If youre used to the daily camaraderie of coworkers or customers chatting throughout the day, make sure to connect with friends, family, coworkers online. Theres a lot of free tech to help you interact with people daily. Most importantly find some joy to banish some of the anxiety you might be feeling. Ill be back on Friday with some ideas for keeping you and your teams morale up doing this time. Take care and follow the advice on social distancing/self-isolation so you and your loved ones remain healthy and free of COVID-19.

14.01.2022 I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be. Roald Dahl, My Uncle Oswald What are you White hot and passionate about? I love Roald Dahl books, he has a knack of transporting you far away and inwards at the same time. My fave book is the BFG as it taught me to learn before I judged and about courage in the face of adversity. Do you have a favourite Roald Dahl book or story?

03.01.2022 Are you rising to your challenges? Im not and Ill tell you why! I know Ive been very quiet on socials recently and Im so sorry to have left you hanging. Ive found it all very hard, especially being in stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne, so I wanted to drop in today and talk to you about it. Recently Ive had to work on my mindset and focus on things that made me happy, if you follow my art page @lokilovesart youll know Ive even been struggling with creativity.... We are in such unprecedented times with so many challenges to deal with as small biz owners, whether youre in Melbourne or anywhere in the world. Adjusting my mindset has helped me to push past these blocks and get on with it, its still a battle but now I feel like Im making progress. The mindset plays a significant role in how we cope with challenges, it can determine how resilient or persistent we are. Your mindset is the force behind whether you thrive or avoid challenges, how you view failures and setbacks, even how you persevere toward your goals. What to do when your mindset is keeping you stuck! If so, start practising a growth mindset and while doing this keep reviewing your goals. Try to identify how you characterise yourself and ask a trusted friend if they think your perception matches reality. We all have a lot of challenges at present, change how you react to them, welcome challenges as an opportunity for growth and to learn from your peers and network. Understand that in order to get what you want, youve got to work hard and learn new things. Most importantly recognise failure as an opportunity to learn, acknowledge where your weaknesses are and focus on improving them. - Responsible people never blame others for their results - Resentment is a wasted emotion that can only hurt you - You must take responsibility for your thoughts, feelings and actions There are heaps of business courses and events to help small biz through these times, look on Eventbrite or check your local council events for ways to learn and network.

Right now is the time to change that, stop trying to fit in and dare to be different. Dare to be yourself! If you want to make those changes and follow your story, your why..Start doing it now. Things will not be going back to normal, the world is changing and this might be the perfect time to launch that business, course or product. #empowering #mindset #smallbusinesslove
