22.01.2022 408 Temporary Activity Visa - Australian Government Endorsed Events Stream This visa will allow: -eligible applicants to remain in Australia if you have no other visa options and are unable to depart Australia due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.... -remain in Australia to assist in critical sectors including healthcare, disability and aged care, childcare and agriculture during the COVID-19 pandemic. Criteria Must hold a visa that is 28 days or less from ceasing to be in effect Or, held a visa that is no more than 28 days from ceasing to be in effect And, are unable to apply for the same temporary visa they hold or held or any other subclass of temporary visa other than the Subclass 408 visa There is no application fee for this visa. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au//australian-government-end

These funds are for people on temporary visas who have no way to support themselves and who have urgent needs. This includes food, medicine and crisis accommodation costs.... You may be eligible for Red Cross Safety Net support if you: are in Australia on a temporary visa are in urgent financial hardship cannot access Centrelink, Medicare or similar services have no income, savings or other financial support (including from family overseas). 07.01.2022 Department of Home Affairs clarifications on COVID19 effects on Temporary Visa Holders: Recommendation: Temporary Visa Holders who are unable to support themselves over the next six months are strongly encouraged to return home.... Visitor Visa: International tourists should return to their home country as quickly as possible, particularly those without family support. *Working Holiday Makers: Can extend their stays in Australia if working in agriculture, health or aged care only. Can get exemption of 'six month with one employer' rule, Must self isolate if moving to a new region. Temporary Skilled Visa 457 / 482: If stood down but not laid off, can maintain visa validity and business will have the opportunity to extend visa as per normal arrangements. Hours can be reduced without breaching visa conditions. Able to withdraw up to $10,000 from superannuation for this financial year, If laid off and unable to find new sponsor, should leave Australia in line with existing conditions. If re-employed in future, time already spent on visa will count towards PR. *Skilled visa holders Able to withdraw up to $10,000 from superannuation for this financial year, Skilled visa holders stood down, but not laid off, will be able to have visas extended, Businesses can reduce skilled visa holders working hours without breaching sponsorship obligations, Time already spent in Australia prior to COVID pandemic will be counted towards permanent residency requirements. *International students Encouraged to rely on family support, part-time work and their own savings, Able to withdraw up to $10,000 from superannuation for this financial year, if have been in Australia for longer than 12 months.
