18.01.2022 BUSHFIRE RELIEF FUNDRAISER AT ANTIQUE PERENNIALS Saturday 1st February 10am - 4pm Entry by donation and $5 for every plant purchased donated to the Bendigo Ban...k Bushfire Relief Fund. Here I am on a scrounge today around the Antique Nursery guided by Matt, and you can see how fabulous things are looking. Quite strange allowing what has been happening elsewhere in Australia, however the Yarra Valley and the hills all around including the Dandenongs are as green and lush as I have ever seen them for this time of year. Next Saturday, Matt and Michael of Antique Perennials will be holding a plant sale to raise funds for the Bendigo Bank Bushfire Relief fund. This is the first time their amazing nursery on the other side of the valley from Cloudehill at Kinglake will be open to the public. Michael and Matt lost their houses and nursery in the Black Saturday fires and understand and appreciate the enormous generosity of Aussies and what is required to get back on your feet after such devastation. So come along and have a great day and help your fellow Aussies. Bring your own bags, boxes and trailers and come and meet the team. Matt and Michael will be available to discuss their plants and a few others (including myself) will be popping around helping out. So, if you would like to see a seriously amazing nursery and join in the fun, and also contribute towards a vital cause, please come along. Antique Perennials, 3153 Healesville-Kinglake Rd, Kinglake In the meantime, the weather looks absolutely perfect for a glorious evening of Opera in the Garden this Coming Saturday - and there are still tickets. www.trybooking.com/578201

17.01.2022 Now our opera is coming up very quickly, indeed Saturday week and I thought it might be good to explain exactly what the Melba people do. The Melba Opera Trust ...take Australia's most promising young opera singers and supports them into careers. They act as a bridge, in other words, for singers to become polished and publicly-recognised. Nellie Melba was convinced that 'a beautiful voice is not enough' , performers need mentoring, they need business skills and performance experience. This is where the Trust comes in. These performers already have years of study at various conservatoriums under their belt, and they're well and truly ready to show their stuff. All they need now are evenings such as Cloudehill's on Saturday 25 of the Australia Day weekend coming. The evening will be amazing. You will be almost within hand-shaking distance of these incredible singers and (if you don't know opera) the first thing you find is why these people do not need amplifiers. They are very loud and will thrill you to the marrow. The second thing you'll find is what a magical thing the human voice can be. This will be a very exceptional occasion. We have just had another burst of rain and the garden is as stunning as we have ever had it, and all that's left to say is that, blimey, its everyone's patriotic duty to come! Book your tickets now. https://www.trybooking.com/578201
