13.01.2022 STATEMENT FROM THE MAYOR TRAVEL TO HEPBURN SHIRE OVER THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS Hepburn Shire is a popular destination for visitors from Melbourne and other parts o...f Victoria. With school holidays approaching, the townships in our Shire will be busy with many tourists. While we welcome visitors to the region within imposed restrictions, we want Hepburn Shire to remain COVID safe and for visitors to remember to social distance and use good hygiene practices. We also ask that people from the high-risk municipalities in metropolitan Melbourne, identified by the State Government, to reconsider travel and to follow the advice of the health authorities to stay home. Council has been working closely with business to ensure that they are implementing measures to stop the spread of the COVID-19, and we commend them on this work. Safe and sustainable tourism is how we will balance our need to support local businesses with our community’s desire to remain COVID free. Cr Licia Kokocinski, Mayor

13.01.2022 Beautiful Trentham Falls is one of the longest single drop waterfalls in Victoria, plunging some 32 metres over basalt columns. It’s just one of the many scenic reserves to explore in our region this weekend. Here are some practical tips from Parks Victoria when visiting our natural attractions - 1. Observe physical distancing of 1.5 metres at all times 2. Do not gather in groups of more than 20 people 3. Check that the park is open before travelling... 4. Avoid parks that are usually busy on a weekend 5. Bring your own hand sanitiser 6. If a car park is full, no more people can visit that site. Do not join vehicle queues or park illegally - instead go to an alternative destination 7. Stay safe do not jump barriers or railings to access areas that are prohibited 8. Be prepared for cold weather and take safety precautions in areas where there is snow 9. If you are using BBQ facilities make sure you clean them before and after each use.
