24.01.2022 The perfect sunrise.... Even in the cold weather the scenery in the Junee Shire is nothing short of spectacular. Sarah Macaulay

23.01.2022 Not only do Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory produce amazing licorice and chocolate but the factory building itself is something to be seen. Built in 1934-35 the old four storey flourmill is a historically rich landmark in the rural township of Junee. At its peak the Mill employed 25 workers on site and ran around the clock producing 5.6 million bushels of flour per year, which in today’s dollars would be worth many tens of millions of dollars. Unfortunately, due to a fire ...in the 1970's which destroyed part of the building the flourmill closed its doors, that is until Green Grove Organics and a young, enthusiastic Neil Druce brought the building back to life opening the widely renowned Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory in 1998. You can explore this stunning building on one of the Licorice Factories guided tours which run every hour on the hour.

20.01.2022 A caretaker murdered in 1961, a mentally disturbed boy was held in the cottage for many years, a boy died from falling down the stairs, a maid 'fell' from the balcony and a stable boy died from injuries after a fire. Many of the ghosts that appear at the Monte Cristo Homestead are believed to be the spirits of these people who died there along with Mrs Crawley herself. Come play with us...... if you dare.... Reopening - Friday, 5 June 2020.

10.01.2022 It's as pretty as a picture, idylic some may say but behind the doors of this stunning historical treasure are stories of murder, mystery and intrigue. Visiting Monte Cristo Homestead during daylight is one thing but if you really are brave why not book an evening ghost tour and spend the night in Australia's most haunted house.... we dare you.... Open Friday to Monday from 10am to 4pm and every day in the NSW school holidays (except Christmas Day).

09.01.2022 Calling all rail buffs! Add this brand new attraction in the Junee Shire to your MUST see list. Overlooking the famous Bethungra Rail Spiral, the new viewing platform allows you to get up close (safely) to the trains as they travel over and through the tunnel. Whilst you’re there take note of the beautiful rail inspired artwork etched into the side panels of the platform. The viewing platform along with Bethungra Dam, a great recreational spot for camping and fishing, are located just outside the beautiful village of Bethungra in the Junee Shire.

09.01.2022 Sunsets and canola are spectacular but really it’s the people that make the town and villages of the Junee Shire so beautiful and our good friends at Inland Rail captured this perfectly. Warm, welcoming and unique (yes Neil at Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory we’re talking about you) are what you will experience when you visit our wonderful corner of the world. Take a look at some of the local recommendations of things to do when in the Junee Shire.

06.01.2022 The Junee Rotary Sunday Markets are back and in a new location. Pop on down to the carpark of the Junee Ex-Services Memorial Club this coming Sunday between 8am and 12pm where you'll be treated to beautiful local produce and goodies.

06.01.2022 "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."... Lest We Forget

05.01.2022 Driving along the Canola Trail you’ll find paddocks of golden canola. Our good friend Roger Dietrich Photography captured this amazing display of yellow in the Junee Shire with a view towards the Bethungra Hills. Just remember to take extreme care if you’re stopping road-side, and never trespass on farms. ... Please always follow recommendations from NSW Health regarding travel during this time. If you are unwell please stay home. If you are unable to travel at the moment, add this to your ‘To Do’ list. Thank you.

05.01.2022 We love a good canola field and instagrammer @thewindingthicket captured this amazing burst of colour during a road trip to Junee in spring last year. While we wait for the paddocks to start exploding in stunning yellow flowers (usually anytime from August through to October), the towns and villages along the Canola Trail are ready for you to explore. Check out Junee and our neighbouring towns of Visit Coolamon Shire and Visit Temora

02.01.2022 Choo Choo! All aboard. Think of all the amazing places that you can explore just by hoping on a train (with a ticket of course), the local Junee Roundhouse is a history holder. With construction beginning in 1942 and the official opening in 1947, the Junee Roundhouse is one of the few working roundhouses left in the world. Jump on board a guided tour with one of the highly knowledgeable guides, like our friend Neville, who may just spill some secret stories about the trains. Reopening Wednesday, 17 June from 10am to 3pm.
