21.01.2022 MID SEASON REVIEW - 12 AND UNDER The next mid season review looks at our inaugural 12 and Under side. In what is shaping up to be a very even division, the Para Vista lads have worked their way to a 3-4 record thanks to some strong individual and team performances. With a team high match score of 184, plenty of good showings with the bat, and almost everyone taking a wicket at some stage, these young Para Vista stars are forging friendships and making memories at every opport...unity. Here's what coach Tim Maddern had to say: "The 12 and Under team has started the season extremely well, especially considering that this is their first season together, and the first time that many of them have played competitive cricket. We have played 7 games so far and won 3 of them, with three narrow losses as well. The boys are playing really well and it has been pleasing to watch them become more consistent in all areas of the game. They are always keen to learn and encouraging of each other, and this positive attitude will see them continue to improve in the second half of the season. Josh Britcher’s power hitting and Wasim Akram style left-arm bowling has been brilliant, while Mitchell Ellis resembles a young Pat Cummins and takes wickets each week. Tristan Cooper has been one of our leading batsmen and has taken some outstanding catches as a developing wicket keeper. James Carn is another to show promise with the wicket-keeping gloves on and is solid with the bat. Cohen Pedler-Jones has displayed his ability to make quick runs on several occasions, and Archer Maddern is developing into a reliable opening batsman who also bowls wicket-taking outswingers. Jayden Horskins is regularly bamboozling opposition players with his leg spin, and contributes regularly with the bat, and Elijah Smith and Archie Crawford are good all-rounders, performing well with both bat and ball each week. Elijah is also one of our developing wicket keepers. Joash Lovin and Mitchell Donaldson both regularly deceive batsmen with their bowling and provide handy runs for the team. Each of our players contributes to the team each week and should be proud of their efforts so far." Their season resumes on January 15th.

21.01.2022 Here's where all the Para Vista Cricket action is happening this weekend

20.01.2022 Dear Parents and Players, Thank you for your support and participation in what has been a whirlwind, exciting start to our debut season of junior cricket at Para Vista. 20.01.2022 MID SEASON REVIEW - 16 AND UNDER In the first of our mid season reviews, we take a look at how our 16 and Under side is progressing, with this season being the first foray into outdoor cricket for many of the players. They have played some exciting cricket with very high enthusiasm, registering a team high score of 118 in one match and narrowly missing a win in another. With 2 individual half century makers, 10 different players taking a wicket so far this season, and one pla...yer invited out to take part in the association rep side, the first half of the season has showed plenty of future promise. With the team improving with every outing, we look forward to seeing what the second half of the season produces when they return on January 9th. Here's what coach Ben Gardner had to say about his young chargers: "It's been a pretty tough inititation for our 16s, who have toiled hard without scraping through for a win yet. However, their improvement and development had been outstanding in the short time that they have been playing so far. We have managed to give a few teams a scare and post some solid totals, the challenge for the boys is finding consitency over a whole game. We regularly put up a solid showing in one innings and let ourselves down in the second. I am very excited about the remainder of the season, and I have great confidence that we will snatch a win at some point. The boys are building a great team culture and I am pleased to say that they are already great mates. With another season and a hald left in juniors, they still have a while to go, but I am looking forward to playing with these great young guys in the future. The future of Para Vista is bright with these young guys in it"

16.01.2022 Everything you need to know about this weekend's matches

15.01.2022 With this pause in the season, its time to take a look at how our sides are going! SENIORS Our LO1 side has started off with a bang, boasting a 5-1 record and having many dominant performances. Two individual century makers - the only ones in the grade so far this season, the leading wicket taker - and plenty of players fulfilling their roles with excellence has provided a firm platform for the side to sit top of the ladder.... Our LO3 side has had its best start to a season for the last few years, sitting just inside the top four with a 3-3 record. They boast a first time century maker of their own, 12 individual wicket takers, and plenty of players improving their skills and performing to the best of their abilities every game. Having created club history in their last game, they continue to be competitive in a very even grade. JUNIORS Our first foray into junior cricket has so far been met with an overwhelming positive response. Three teams of young Para Vista cricketers have performed well and are having a blast while they are doing it Our 10 AND UNDER side have been improving every week, edging closer to that first win under the guidance of Phil Klassen and Jeremy Wright. You can see the improvement at trainings and during matches, and the big smiles on the players faces show they are relishing playing cricket. With everybody getting a bat and a bowl every week, they are always involved, and we are sure that first win is just around the corner! The 12 AND UNDER side has had 2 good wins so far this season with plenty of runs being made, their biggest team total so far this year being a massive 184! Nearly every player has taken a wicket so far this year, and the lads are learning lots under the lead of Tim Maddern and Ben Gardner. With growth every week, they continue to play good cricket with the right attitude towards fairness and inclusiveness, and are doing themselves and the club proud. With many new players to cricket, the 16 AND UNDER side has experienced a tough introduction to the season, not winning a game as yet. They have been ultra competitive for large parts of matches, and have a half century maker already this year. Nine players have taken a wicket so far, many players have shown plenty talent, and their thirst for knowledge and practice is a testament to how much they are enjoying themselves and want to improve. Under the astute coaching of Ben Gardner, with some seniors chipping in to offer advice from time to time at trainings, their first win will not be too far away! Stay safe everybody, and we'll see you out at one of our matches shortly!

15.01.2022 Congratulations to club stalwart Scott Brown on taking his 350th wicket for Para Vista this afternoon. Scott becomes only the 2nd player in club history to reach this major milestone (after Jeff Eckermann). Well done on a fantastic achievement Scott, and may there be more wickets still to come in your wonderful career.

15.01.2022 MID SEASON REVIEW - LO3 Next up in our mid season reviews is our senior LO3 side. Boasting many new players, a first time centurion and a half century maker, and 12 individual wicket takers, the LO3 side finds themselves in a tight battle for a finals spot, currently just sitting inside the top 4. Here's what captain Brenton Starke has to say: "The first half of our season has seen many ups and downs. We've had brilliant victories, but also some heavy losses. Hopefully in the... second half of the season we find some more consistency with the bat, improve our catching, and continue to bowl in good areas. We've also welcomed many new players to our side this year, and all of them have taken to the field with great zest and team commitment. The selfless attitudes of many players, and the fun and laughter had by all on match days is providing everyone with an enjoyable enviroment to play cricket and get the best out of ourselves. All of the players have each others backs, and when the going gets hard, we pick each other up and continue on together. This is a team that's building to something special, and I think that we'll see that the best is yet to come" The LO3 side resumes its season on January 9th.

09.01.2022 Since 1979, the members of the Para Vista Cricket Club, have been blessed to share the field with players from a multitude of cultural backgrounds, customs, and heritages. As our club becomes more multicultural, we continue to strive to become more inclusive of our teammates and members. Within the last few weeks, we acknowledged our First Nations peoples. Now we acknowledge all our cultures, past, current, and future. The flags displayed here, represent some of the identifie...d history of our past and current playing group. Peoples of non-English speaking backgrounds, including their children, make up nearly 25 percent of South Australian population. However, they comfortably make up more than a quarter of our playing group. By our behavior, we will continue to build relationships as we embrace diversity into our club with open arms. Every member, by their actions, will continue to welcome the many cultures that make up our opposition, playing group and their families, so that we can unite on the field and compete united, as one, for Para Vista.

01.01.2022 MID SEASON REVIEW - LO1 The third mid season review looks at our senior mens A-grade side. In search of a three-peat, they currently are sitting top of the ladder with an impressive 8-1 record thanks to dominant performances by many players. Boasting the leading wicket taker in the division and 3 of the top 4 aggregate run scorers too, the LO1 side has set the standard for other teams to match in the first half of the season. However, its not just these players carrying the s...ide - in batting there have been 2 century makers and 5 half century makers, and in bowling there have been 12 individual wicket takers, indicating a collective team performance throughout many games. Here's what captain Ian Martin had to say: "2020/2021 season has started off well for the LO1 division. Defending back to back premierships always presents challenges and after winning 2019/2020 by default due to Covid we would like to try and not only make it all the way but play the final game out if we get there. We have had a few new players come and go but club stalwarts Tim Hodson, Luke McLeod, and myself are having a lot of fun with the bat and getting some excellent scores under the belt, helping secure a number of wins. Our bowlers have forged their own path with Yadda taking his first 5 wicket haul for the club. Our fielding has been good with the expected dropped catches but the guys are doing well and learning from their mistakes. Sitting on top of the ladder is good but it's not a time to be complacent or over confident. We play some good teams and players so we will be taking each game as it comes and hopefully have another go at finals in March." The LO1 season resumes January 9th.
