22.01.2022 SICs DEGREES // Are you ready for the exhibition opening from 6pm this Friday night - online or in person at Murky Waters Studio in Townsville? < That’s SICs ...at SIX, and if you didn’t know, ‘Thorpey says it’s fully sick’. < Speaking of sick, how great are stüssies? Pictured here is more of the work-in-progress detail of my finished piece with Oly King. It is all hand-stitched and hand-pierced. Well, hand and needle, because I’m not Danish Needlehands. Anyway, the work references recycling and revisiting personal iconographies, and symbols from childhood. < I can’t wait for you to see all of the collaborations in the exhibition and online. There have been a huge number of online submissions! < In the meantime, be sure to follow Murky Waters Studio as they’ll be doing a reveal in the next couple of days about some of the technology on hand (or, rather, phone-in-hand) - including ways to view the exhibition online and in person. < SICs Degrees is curated by Danish Quapoor and supported by RADF. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Townsville City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. See more
