24.01.2022 On the bench today......a 1995 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Just arrived from Japan. Requires a fret recrown & dressing. Other than that just needs tidying up in places that should have been done in the factory prior to sale. Things like the fret binding edges not being scrapped and polished properly and spots of body colour on the fret board from the original painting process. Once tidied up though it will be better than it was when it came out of the Gibson factory!

15.01.2022 On the bench today...a 1990 Gibson LP Studio. This guitar has come in for a fret recrown, removal of the Fishman bridge pickup and full setup to get it playing like a gem. The frets were very flat which affects performance not only in pitch but also note intonation and bending resistance. Luckily these frets are still high enough to be saved and it is not necessary to replace them. Love the strings on this guitar, apparently the glow under a UV light!

12.01.2022 On the bench today...a customer's home build project that was having 'humming' issues when plugged in to the amp and turned up (esp with max treble). We were able to diagnose that the pickups were not earthing sufficiently and successfully fixed the problem for him.

12.01.2022 VJGuitars is now adding Pickup repairs/rewinding to services offered.

12.01.2022 The Gibson LP post fretwork and full setup. Having straightened the neck, levelling and crowning the frets, the action is set to 1.0 mm 1st string 12th fret & 1.5 mm 6th string 12th fret (10-52 gauge strings) and a little relief is dialled in at the Truss Rod . This gives the perfect balance between low action for effortless playability and no fret buzz. With the frets now polished and buffed this guitar has now realised it's full potential! All there is to do now is set the intonation at the saddles and adjust the Pick Up heights to deliver the best balance.

07.01.2022 Ready for delivery back to customer..
