21.01.2022 "I is come out now?" Peanut is a few weeks post op so he has to rest and not do strenuous activity. Which he does not want to do. His parents have had to build and reinforce his pen as he likes to escape

06.01.2022 Its not often we get to see sweet Eddie on social media being the camera shy kid of the family, but there was an event that happened a couple weeks ago that we... think can possibly help others in the same situation. Dr Martine noticed one morning that Eddies pupils were very dilated, and not constricting in response to light. She did a quick test of his visuals by making hand motions near the face and realised that he wasnt responding as though he could see. This episode lasted for 30 to 45 minutes and then his vision came back. Dr Martine took a series of blood pressure readings with our Doppler machine and a referral to Perth Animal Eye Hospital was made. She found that at certain times of the day his blood pressure was high, and returned to normal levels for the rest of the day. Dr Martine and eye specialist Dr King concluded that Eddie may have temporarily lost his vision as a result of some fluid build up behind his retinas due to intermittent high blood pressure (hypertension). We started him on a low dose of Amlodipine which is a drug that lowers blood pressure, and his retinas are healing. Eddie was fortunate in his case that his high blood pressure wasnt significant enough to cause retinal detachment, hence his eyesight coming back. But this isnt always the case. If you notice your cat has dilated pupils, seems disorientated, and isnt responding to visual cues then we recommend calling the clinic as soon as possible for a blood pressure reading and check over with the Vet See more
