17.01.2022 Congrats to EASTS Volleyball Squad Member Lachlan O. We wish him safe travels to Canberra (AIS) and goodluck as he embarks on a new chapter in his sporting career! His leadership, presence on and off the court will be missed by the EASTS Volleyball Squad.

16.01.2022 2021 Fleurieu Cup This year saw the return of the Fleurieu Cup at Seaford Secondary College after a year off due to Covid restrictions in term 1 2020. This event was held across 2 days due to the high number of schools that entered. This first day of competition was held on Monday 22/3 and Reynella Easts College entered 4 teams in the 8/9 Boys and 4 teams in the 8/9 Girls. For the vast majority of Year 8 students this was the first time that they had represented Reynella East... College in Volleyball and this gave them a great competitive introduction to Volleyball. It was great to see so many teams involved with 34 teams from Southern area schools. Below are the results for our teams on the first day of competition. Year 8/9 Results REC 1 Year 8 Girls - Thirteenth REC 2 Year 8 Girls - Eleventh REC 3 Year 9 Girls - Winners REC 4 Year 9 Girls - Third REC 1 Year 8 Boys - Seventeenth REC 2 Year 8 Boys - Eighth REC 3 Year 9 Boys - First REC 4 Year 9 Boys - Seventh Well done to all students involved and volunteer old scholars Nick Tape, Bailey Ferguson, Lachlan Yates, Aleesha Sammut and Emma Wordsworth. Also thanks to staff members Miss Sharrad, Mr Linke, Mr Cumming and Mr Moncrieff. Our Year 10, 11 and 12 students competed on Tuesday the 30th of March. We entered 2 teams of Year 10 Boys, 2 teams of Year 10 Girls, 2 Open Girls teams and 2 Open Boys teams. Due to an unfortunate clash with an Outdoor Education camp and a few injuries we were at minimum numbers for the Year 10 teams. The standard was high for this competition with perennial Volleyball powers Hallett Cove R-12 and Woodcroft College providing some quality opposition for our squad members. We managed some good results during the tournament and will be looking to improve them for knockout competitions starting next term. Also thanks to intern student teacher Ms Adolphi and staff members Mr Glass, Ms Jolly and Mr Moncrieff. A huge thank you to our rookie cameraman Sam Pinnegar who took some great shots in his first official duties as a media person.

15.01.2022 2021 South Australian State Beach Team Congratulations to Year 11 student Madison B on representing South Australia at the Australian Beach Volleyball Champions on the Gold Coast in week 1 of this term. Madison and her Beach partner managed to finish 13th in the Under 18 Competition. Madison is our third State Beach Volleyball Representative for Reynella East College and it is great to see our EASTS Volleyball Squad members once again representing South Australia! Well done Madison!

12.01.2022 Year 11 + 12 SA Schools Beach Volleyball Festival Yesterday saw perfect conditions for our senior Volleyballers. 40 REC students participated in the SA Schools Beach Volleyball Festival at Glenelg Beach. Our Rec students matched up against Brighton High School and St Peters College students in the Division 1 competition. The day started with pool matches and a few Reynella East showdowns amongst our 20 teams. With the majority of the games against Brighton teams, they were ho...tly contested and some great Volleyball on display from both schools. 8 REC teams managed to make quarter finals and 3 teams progressed to the semi-finals. Connor C and Matt R made the Division 1 Open Boys Grand final and lost a tight contested by a mere 2 points. Thanks to all the students for making it a great day and well played on the sand. Also thanks to intern teacher Ms Adolphi, volunteer Josh Niederer, Ms Shippey and Mr Moncrieff for their help on the day.

12.01.2022 2020 The Year That Was. Normally at this time of the year reports would be coming in of teams starting their final matches of the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup. This year has been a bit different in that we had planned to play in the AVSC until it was cancelled in August and we then turned our focus to playing in the Volleyball SA run South Australian Schools Smash in the same week. Due to the latest covid-19 scare that tournament was also cancelled. I would like to ackn...owledge the hard work of staff, volunteers and our amazing students throughout 2020. Through everything that has been thrown their way they have remained positive and forged on to improve their own skills and their teammates. On Tuesday this week the Year 12 Boys had their final training and were joined by the Year 12 Girls team. This allowed the program to celebrate our Year 12 graduates, 5 year service award winners, Chief/Hoff Award nominees/winners and farewell them as a group. Once school returns in 2021 we will start making plans for the 2021 Australian Volleyball Schools Cup on the Gold Cast.

11.01.2022 Year 10 Knockout Volleyball On Thursday the 27th of May our year 10 Volleyball teams contested the Statewide Year 10 Knockout Competition at Seaford Secondary College. The competition saw schools from around the southern area battle it out for a spot in the State Knockout finals at Brighton High school in week 8. Our girls team managed to finish undefeated in the minor round against Hallett Cove, Victor Harbor, Seaford and Wirreanda. They then faced the highly fancied Hallett... Cove in the final and came away winners 2-0 with a great win. They played some great Volleyball throughout the day and it was easy to see all the hard work that they have been putting in at trainings is starting to payoff. Thanks to Caley Frisby and Ms Jolly for coaching the girls. The boys team also finished undefeated with solid wins against Woodcroft and Wirreanda in the pool matches. A big thank you to Woodcroft who very kindly accepted our invitation to play a scratch match on a free court so both teams could get more playing time. The final saw Willunga Waldorf progress to the final after upsetting Hallett Cove in their pool. The final was close early in both sets, until the boys found their feet and build solid leads to finish of each set.
