05.01.2022 Perth Adalaide terrace, early 60s? the red bug looks like a bit of mix n match on the front fenders, I think theres a green bug behind the Austin J van (poss TipTip bread van) If anyone with better eyes can confirm that would be great. Credit to old perth cars n rust.

04.01.2022 Australias first Boatswagen came in 1959. This was built out of a 1956 Beetle by VW dealers Stuart Campbell and Norm Manners in Perth, and they launched it into the Swan River in November 1959, as part of the celebrations for the opening of Perths new Narrows Bridge. As a promotion stunt it was extremely effective. The car had been modified only by fitting a snorkel tube to the carburettor, and a propeller to the engine. Remember where you saw this first! VW cars of WA. reposted from Lost Perth pages. thanks.

04.01.2022 A great get together after the covid restrictions, It was cold, but dry. Lots to talk about, Loads of vee dubs, sorry if i missed yours!

04.01.2022 Sadly no vee-dubs, but still some great cars, weather wasnt great but it dint rain!

04.01.2022 If you own a classic or slightly modified car built before 1990 and would like cheaper reggo because you dont use it often you need to read the following. Australian Street Machine Federation WA Division Discount to encourage more classic cars onto the roads ... New scheme to offer 75 per cent registration discount for classic vehicles registered to an approved club Will apply to low road use street rods and vehicles manufactured prior to 1990 Eligible vehicles will be able to access 90 days of on-road use per annum Scheme removes red tape for classic car owners that only drive occasionally McGowan Government has finalised original proposal following consultation with stakeholders Western Australians may soon see more classic cars on our roads, with the McGowan Government introducing a new scheme to encourage car enthusiasts to hit the road in their hot rods more often. Owners of street rods and vehicles manufactured prior to 1990 will soon have access to a scheme designed to encourage and enable car enthusiasts to license and use their occasional-use vehicles. The new Concessions for Classics scheme will reduce licensing costs for eligible vehicles and allow 90 days of road use per annum. Under the new scheme, participants will receive a 75 per cent reduction in their motor vehicle licence fee, provided the owner of the eligible vehicle is also a financial member of a Department of Transport (DoT) approved motoring club or the vehicle is owned by a DoT approved motoring club. DoT approved motoring clubs will be required to maintain a record of vehicle use by their members for auditing and compliance with the scheme. The requirement to be a financial member of a DoT approved motoring club is a fundamental feature of all classic vehicle permit and conditional licensing schemes across Australia. It encourages club members and DoT approved motoring clubs to comply with their obligations under the relevant scheme and promotes community engagement and participation. Additionally, the Veteran/Vintage (404) scheme for owners of unmodified vehicles will be modernised mirroring the vehicle use restrictions and motoring club responsibilities of the Concessions for Classics scheme. Concession entitlements and vehicle conditions for vehicles licensed under the Veteran/Vintage scheme will remain the same. Following discussions with key stakeholders, the McGowan Government plans to extend the proposal to 90 days per annum of road use - 60 days for participation in club sanctioned events and 30 days for personal use, testing, maintenance or repair. COVID-19 has impacted the implementation of this initiative, however, the legislative changes continue to progress and the Government expects to be able to implement the scheme early next year. 02.01.2022 Don't forget, Alfreds on Wednesday, 4-11-20, 6pm onwards, Alfreds Kitchen in Guildford. All VWs welcomed, come along and say hello!

02.01.2022 Grahams Commer is getting alot of attention, So heres an unlikely connection to Commer and Kombi. Corgi toys UK brought out a new range of toys, but the tooling for the Commer military van wasn't ready, so they made the Kombi in to a US personnel carrier, They produced these for a few months until the Commer moulds were ready, then produced Commer military vans and dropped the Kombi. The kombi doesn't appear in any brochures or literature of the time, but the Commer featured in all the sales catalogues even though it was not being made.

02.01.2022 The ultimate spotto??

01.01.2022 Alfreds, on Wednesday, 6pm onwards, in Guildford! All vee-dubs welcomed. Dont believe the gossip!!
