19.01.2022 Bit of a late update but on Saturday just gone the Perth Motorplex held the WA Dragracing season opener. It was great to get back to racing and see a few of the... drah racing family. Lisa and i were both entered in super street and were ready for a good days racing. Qualifying 16th & 18th in a field of 26. We both then made it through the first round then unfortunately in the second round i was too eager and went .007 red. Lisa on the other hand made it all the way to the semi finals untill she also gave away a win by red light. All in all its a pretty nice start to the season with a good handful of points to start off with. Thank you Paul & Lisa

13.01.2022 We caught up with Junior Dragster racer Brodie Zappia to ask some questions about the upcoming 50th Annual Western Nationals. Brodie currently leads the WA Drag Racing Championship and sits 4th in the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster Sportsman Series. What was your first Western National you raced in? My first Western Nationals was the 2014 Western Nationals in March, after receiving my licence in November the previous year.... What’s your Western Nationals Drag Racing Highlight? My Western Nationals highlight would be making it to the semi finals at 8 years old, at the 2014 western nationals, in my first season racing junior dragsters in a big field, with over 32 cars. What would it mean to you win the 50th Annual Western National? It would mean quite a lot if I won the 50th Western Nationals. Not only is it the half century running of the event, but it would also be a massive stepping stone in my championship chase, both nationally and locally, and the event would be my first Golden Christmas Tree win. 50th Annual Western Nationals 27th 28th February 2021 Perth Motorplex Australian National Drag Racing Association

13.01.2022 Second Generation Modified racer Rhys Naylor won his first ANDRA Gold Christmas last year, Can he go back to back this year?. We asked him some questions in the lead up to this years event. When was your first Westernationals you raced in? 2009 in Junior Dragster. What’s your Westernationals Drag Racing Highlight?... 2020 Winning the Westernnationals and getting my first gold Christmas tree. What would it mean to you to win the 50th Annual Westernationals? It would be amazing to go back to back and be the 4th person in my family to win multiple Christmas Trees 17 Days to go til the 50th Annual Western Nationals

13.01.2022 WADRA Update Good afternoon members. The Governments announcement with regards to the Phase 4 Restrictions remaining in place until at least 24th October 2020, has given us no option but to cancel this years awards function until further notice. The committee, and in particular Natalie McClure have worked tirelessly to come up with options whereby we would be able to go ahead with some format. Unfortunately, due to venue restrictions, time constraints, supplier restrictions... and manpower, it seems it will be difficult to pull together an event that would represent the club and its supporters adequately. It will come as no surprise that our August and September club meetings also cannot go ahead at this stage. Getting the 2019/2020 trophies to winners and runners up is being worked through, and potentially this could happened at the AGM, again pending Phase 4 Restrictions being lifted, which would theoretically be held at our scheduled club meeting on 27th October 2020. Work towards this date behind the scenes by the Committee and individuals such as Terry Jongen and Daniel Gregorini are greatly appreciated. Our arrangements for all club activities are in the hands of the pandemic, and we wish we could offer better news. Going forward, if members holding perpetual trophies could you please arrange to return them to a committee member so we can have them ready to go when we get the green light, that would be appreciated. Apologies for the ongoing uncertainty, but unfortunately this is out of our hands. Stay safe and look forward to getting together soon. Garrie Fowler President WADRA Inc

12.01.2022 We have entered the Test Day on the 11th at the Motorplex where the new car will be completing some familiarisation passes and getting a few passes under the belt in preparation for the season ahead

07.01.2022 Unfortunate news.

07.01.2022 Last Saturday marked the official start to the 2020/2021 WA Drag Racing Championship Series. Going into this meeting I was filled with much more confidence than... previous weeks with the new swingarm after we finally starting making some great runs over the past fortnight. Going into this meeting the goals were pretty simple. Ride as hard as I can and consistent and boy did we tick those boxes. Qualifying we ran 9.55, 9.51 New PB then 9.49 New PB. This put me in 7th Position overall my highest ever. This put me against Owen Rose in round 1 someone who has become a very tough competitor consistent and great on the tree. For me this was my first real chase having over a second wait. My goal was simple, don't Red light and don't watch him leave the line. I ticked both those boxes but unfortunately a little slow on the tree meaning I had no chance to back off at the top end. After thinking I'm never going to catch him I went flying past some 30kph faster at the finish line just a bit behind but I also went too fast. Dialing in a 9.50 I ended up running a 9.45 NEW PB so was bitter sweet. Most importantly thou I have developed my same consistency but now faster which is a big win. Now we have a few weeks off and finally nothing to do to the bike other than give her a clean. Looking forward to round 2 of the championship with the confidence of knowing how to chase and consistency. Huge thanks goes out to Paul for all his hard work helping me get this R1 back on track and some last min adjustments that come with a new setup. Also Adam from Auto One Morley who has come on board to help us out with consumables, new oil worked a treat also thanks to the motorplex staff, ray and the team and Andra for running a great meeting. Also all the racers for your kind words and congratulations during the weekend for the PBs. See you all on the 28th of November. #autoonemorley #evilswingarms #scprojectexhaustofficial #woolichracing #WADRA #ANDRA #perthmotorplex #madwombatracing #wer1 #9.4club

02.01.2022 Flashback to the 1995 24th Annual Western Nationals at Ravenswood International Raceway. Thanks to Keys Family Motorsport for sending us this in from the official event program. Super gas was run as a bracket that year which is a fixed 9.90 index class using a Pro tree. Wayne Keys top qualified in his Holden Torana and had a solo in the first round. Second round he was up against Graham Williamson in his cortina which he won and placed him in the final against Moreno Gullot...to in his Holden Camira . Wayne ran a 9.901 on the 9.90 index with Moreno running a 9.94 for giving the win to Wayne. Do you remember the 1995 Western Nationals? 50th Annual Western Nationals 27th 28th February 2021 Perth Motorplex Australian National Drag Racing Association

01.01.2022 Well 2019/2020 is done and dusted and we are thrilled to be the Supercharged Outlaws WA track champion for a second time. Being the first female ever to win thi...s in WA was a very special moment in the 2017 / 2018 season but this one was extra special, with a few runner ups and a late charge of 3 track championship round wins in a row, including the Western Nationals and a new PB of 6.94, we got there with quite a few points in the bank before the season was cut short After a challenging season plagued with engine gremlins, and testing times for us all with a tune-up on our new engine combination for the first half of the season, we got there in the end and couldnt have done it without our crew, we cannot thank our crew Heydan, Tavian, Claude, Chris, Brad & Jules enough for the extra effort all of you put in this season, not just on race day but for the times you spent after hours helping to sort out problems and getting things set-up ready to go for every race meeting. Drag racing is truly a team sport and we would not be able to do this without such an amazing group of people. Thank you to Performance towing for their support of drag racing in WA and for sponsoring Supercharged Outlaws, we are hoping this kind of support continues for many years to come. A massive shout out to our sponsors, The Sugar Smith, Connelly Images, HeviHaul and to our major sponsor Heavy Automatics. You have all been supporting Sugar Smith Racing for many years and we feel very lucky to have such an awesome group of companies on board. Last but never forgotten, Thank you to Ray and your dedicated crew of track staff for making every race meeting possible. Without you all none of us would be racing. Everyone stay safe in the off season and well see you all again hopefully in October. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to have our end of season presentation night, and it was so nice to receive our trophies and picture in the mail, it was a bit different, gave my speech of thanks. To the people that know me I dont do speeches but this one was outstanding LOL. Thanks Ray and staff for still making it special. See more

01.01.2022 Good morning members, We regretfully inform you that due to the postponement of phase 5 of COVID-19 restrictions being lifted by our government the proposed July meeting will not go ahead. This we have decided due to restriction requirments at the premises but most importantly for the safety of our members. August the 1st is the proposed date for the introduction of phase 5, again depending upon the outcome of this will depend upon decisions made for the next meeting. We will... keep you informed. Wishing you are all well and we hope that you are doing well. Thank you to those who have been checking in on each other as this is truly a very difficult time for us all, now more than ever we need to stay united and support each other. Take care and stay safe.
