23.01.2022 Hey all!! AFTERNOON SOCIAL: MYSTERY WHERE: CHURCH AT 2PM/ AVALON BEACH BRING: Walking Shoes/ Flashlight... You guys are going to like this afternoons social, its a bit of a surprise, but it will require driving to Avalon beach, we are going to be parking near Avalon bat cave. Plan is to meet at the church at 2pm and drive from there. We will hang out at the the beach area, grab dinner and then head back. 21.01.2022 Hi everyone! On behalf of the youth at Wahroonga, we want to keep you up to date with what's happening in regards to church because of the coronavirus. Looooong story short (I'm sure you've all seen the news updates ) indoor gatherings over 100 are banned and everyone is being encouraged to practice social distancing . While socialising is our FAVE thing to do as a church community, we also love you and your health too much to put you and your families at risk . On ...advice from the AUC, Wahroonga SDA Church will not be meeting for church services and sabbath school starting this sabbath until at least the end of April (for full context behind this decision, see letter attached). BUT... THE YOUTH!!! We are brainstorming every conceivable way to maintain community and friendship through this very unique time. The sad stuff - Upper Rooms cancelled indefinitely - Normal sabbath school and church services are off - No socials as we know them indoors The glad stuff - Small groups will continue meeting, however may have a change of location (outdoors), time or may transition to online. Message the page or your small group leader to double-check details. The changes may be different for each group... stay tuned! - Friday night connect groups will run, but food won't be provided and we will take extra measures to ensure there is enough space - We will still try and have youth socials, but will rely on outdoor activities and rely less on car-pooling. Watch this space too... - We are also still hoping to hold Sabbath School in an outdoor/COVID-19 friendlyish venue to maintain some real life but safe community. - Church will be live-streamed, and so as 'digital nomads' (thanks, boomers) I'm sure we can get behind and support this! - Oh also... Jesus loves you. This is not a light situation we're in, and a lot of us have found it personally very unsettling and it's very unfamiliar territory. We will be there from 7:30pm but will get into the Bible study at 8pm! Tomorrow morning we have Maryellen Fairfax taking prelims AND Sabbath School at 9:30am sharp! 17.01.2022 PRETZELS PRETZELS PRETZELS Now we have your attention, we have an exciting thing involving ....PRETZELS... (who woulda thunk it ) at sabbath school this week (May 2)! ... Leading the masterclass is our very own Joel Join us from the early starting time of 9am (repeat: 9am) so we can all make them from our own kitchens and snack on them during the lesson (I mean, wait until lunch...) INGREDIENTS: 1 sachet of active dry or instant yeast - (2 and 1/4 teaspoons for those with a large container) 1 teaspoon salt 1 Tablespoon brown sugar 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter 3 and -4 cups (460-500g) all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface cup (120g) baking soda And for toppings (choose your favs.. or all of them!) Coarse sea salt for sprinkling Coconut Honey Chocolate Rosemary Cheese Sesame seeds Get creative! Surprise me!
