11.01.2022 As we enter day one of South Australia’s six-day circuit breaker, we have made some changes in line with the latest government direction: Upcoming elective surgeries and appointments have been cancelled. Our team are in the process of contacting impacted patients to reschedule. However, we are still undertaking emergency surgeries as needed. We are also offering telehealth consults, to ensure you can receive the care you need while staying home. We ask that all pati...ents adhere to the latest SA Health advice: stay at home wherever possible, wear a mask when you’re out, physically distance and adhere to all of our additional screening and precautions on site. These changes will ensure we are still able to provide continuity of care to our patients in a safe, hygienic manner. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our team on (08) 8236 4100. Stay safe and well, South Australia. We’ll see you soon.

08.01.2022 Shoulder tendonitis and impingement are common conditions that usually resolve with time, simple exercises and avoidance of activities which may aggravate the condition. They occur when the rotator cuff rubs on the undersurface of the acromion, causing pain that runs down the arm to below the elbow. This pain is often worse at night, or with activities such as overhead work and forward reaching. Most patients can be treated through physiotherapy, with surgery only undertaken if non-operative treatment is ineffective. Clinical examination is the key to diagnosing rotator cuff conditions, so be sure to visit your GP or physio if you are experiencing this pain.

07.01.2022 Achilles tendinopathy is the result of gradual, accumulated 'wear and tear' in the tendon from overuse or ageing. Other terms used for this condition are 'tendinitis' or 'tendinosis'. It can either occur within the Achilles' tendon or at the tendon's insertion on the heel bone. Treatment of this condition has improved significantly in recent years, with physiotherapy and other non-surgical treatments used in all cases. Surgery is only recommended when non-surgical treatment has been tried for at least six months. For more information, go to www.woc.com.au
