22.01.2022 Feeling grateful for my easy life and moved to do more to support those who are taking action to create sustainable options for those who face these daily struggles like @beyondsubsistence. . We look forward to walking with you later in the year through the streets of #Warragul Faces of Gippsland

20.01.2022 WOULD YOU WALK FOR WOOD? Start spreading the news, we are really excited about launching. WALK FOR WOOD in Warragul. This event is planned for later in the year and will be fun for the whole family, well be bringing a taste of Africa to Gippsland.... Streets will be closed off, theyll be African music, cuisine and plenty of other festivities to make this an afternoon to remember. Join us as we walk carrying bundles of firewood in recognition of the thousands of women and children in Africa who do this daily to survive. This will help in raising funds for our fantastic program training families to build and use fuel-efficient or rocket stoves. Built essentially from clay and grass, rocket stoves are a clever design for cooking, which greatly improve the combustion efficiency of the fire and significantly reduce smoke. These stoves also cut down firewood usage by a massive two-thirds. There is a huge need for this project to be rolled out across many other African countries, we hope to be able to give this life-changing opportunity to as many African families as possible. Walk for Wood is an initiative of Beyond Subsistence who are a non-profit organisation based in Warragul. Follow us on Facebook www.facebook.com/walkforwoodwarragul and Instagram www.instagram.com/walkforwood for further updates and info on how to register. We would love you to join us and WALK FOR WOOD. #walkforwood #localbusiness #support #eventmanagement #raisingfunds #fuelefficientstoves #walking #goodcause

18.01.2022 @jonjameslambert from @beyondsubsistence is visiting schools and introducing them to Walk for Wood. It would be great to have as many local schools involved in this event that will be held in Warragul later in the year. All funds raised will go towards providing families with fuel-efficient (rocket) stoves in Africa. We would love to be able to provide as many families with these stoves as possible. Rocket stoves are more efficient meaning the women and children spend less time each day in collecting wood and cooking food, and young children are no longer exposed to the dangers of an open fire. We will provide them with the training required to build and use these stoves. #beapartofsomethinggreat #rocketstove #schooleducation #walkforwood #warragul #fundraising #localsupport #africa

14.01.2022 We run many training programs in Africa, one of them is fuel-efficient rocket stoves. Rocket stoves replace open fires that many people cook on. Rocket stoves can save lives due to the fact there are no smoke emissions, and therefore no toxins emitted, unlike the traditional indoor open cooking fires which has cost the health and lives of so many through continual inhalation of toxic smoke emissions. Most fatalities that have occurred are from women, as women are responsible... for the preparation of food, and therefore have the greatest regular contact with the smoke from fires. A rocket stove intensifies the heat of small twigs giving greater efficiency, as well as reducing the amount of smoke. They can range from a small simple stove to a double one as shown. We are currently on a project tour in Africa and have had the pleasure of seeing a double rocket stove as pictured, we have started rolling out training in schools to train kids on how to build and use these stoves. The kids can take home this knowledge and share with their families and the wider community. 07.01.2022 The Rocket Stove is a clever design for cooking, which greatly improves the combustion efficiency of the fire and significantly reduces smoke. The benefits are momumental, with firewood reduced by a massive two-thirds, whilst smoke is largely eliminated - a major health disadvantage for Africans who generally cook inside their homes. Rocket stoves are more efficient meaning the women spend less time each day in collecting wood and cooking food, and young children are no long...er exposed to the dangers of an open fire. Perhaps one of the best features of the rocket stoves is that they are free. Built from clay and grass, with the right training, construction of a rocket stove can be undertaken by an household. Interested in proving a family with the training required to build a rocket stove....... join us and Walk for Wood an event we will be holding later in the year in Warragul. Your registration cost will go towards providing a family in Africa with the training required to build and use a rocket stove. The date of this event will be announced shortly! #rocketstove #walkforwood #warragulevents #firewood
