25.01.2022 Tonight I make a short presentation to the Shire of Mundaring. They have been advised by their staff to deny the grant of $5000 for our consultant, I have written a bunch of reasons why the denial would be wrong. I am told that the Shire council often go against the wishes of their staff so we shall see.

23.01.2022 Here is an update for you all. Last night I did a short presentation for the Mundaring scouts. They have a terrific group of kids there who can't wait to try out our hiking track. Also Chelle showed up a young lady who has put her hand up for a committee job. Well don Chelle. Unfortunately the Shire of Mundaring turned down our application for a matching grant of $5000 to match the Shire of York. After hearing their ratepayers complaints of overspending I am not surprised. ... The grant to the Lotteries West has gone in and I have been sent the papers for signing.

22.01.2022 These were taken on a 2 day exploration of the area

20.01.2022 DONATIONS $1 or 1 million, all donations are welcome. Please just drop it in 633000 159012244 . In a few days you will be able to donate via PayPal, but they have held us up for some reason. I shall call them today.

17.01.2022 Well I finally FINALLY got the email problem sorted out. I simply could not get outlook to accept my correct password, phone number, email addresses so I went to Google and I now have an email address for you. Took less than 5 minutes. There is something about Microsoft that my brain simply cannot accommodate. [email protected] So please put that into your phones and let us hear from you.... Next job is to get an appointment with the Shire of Mundaring to do a presentation for them, but I have been really busy at work so have not done that yet. Also need to get the crowd funding submission in. Oh! and then ..... so much to do, so little time.

14.01.2022 Thanks to our dear friends Adelphe and Walter King for their donation. These two have done so much for our area including designing walks and drives throughout the area.

13.01.2022 At the urging of our Arnaud Courtin I pushed a little at the Shire of Mundaring and so now I am doing a very short presentation at their Shire council meeting on Tuesday night. The goal is to get them to match the $5000 the Shire of York had dropped into our account. Then I shall complete the application to Lotteries West to supply the remaining $15,000. If Bendigo put any in that would be welcome to pay for incidentals as we are funding this ourselves so far.

11.01.2022 I just checked the agenda for the Shire of Mundaring meeting on Tuesday 14th Feb and we are on there to be considered for a $5000 grant. Whoo woo!

11.01.2022 For this who are interested here is the Powerpoint presentation for the Walk to York. Maps to follow. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qjkhkp0a5/JohnsPresentation.pptx

09.01.2022 It seems like not a lot is happening but we are moving along. We went and talked to Lotteries West and it seems that they have a lot of language we really do not understand. The rules have changed since we got our advice and now there is no real grant for walks and the $25,000 limit is no longer. So talking around town we have met a person who works for the Shire and he knows the ropes and is willing to help us to the negotiating. So we are settring up a meeting with him and hopefully we can say goodbye to Lotteries West. Our day walk was a success and we shall be reporting on this ASAP

09.01.2022 We now have a new email address [email protected]. Or you can email me directly at [email protected]

08.01.2022 Here is our original proposal idea to the Minister for Sport and Recreation. We propose a 3 day walk from the Mundaring Activity Centre to the town of York. This will be a 5 day hike with 4 nights spent in huts along the way. We shall create an organisation to build and run this facility. That organisation to be called the Walk to York Foundation. Strengths...Continue reading

06.01.2022 I did promise to update you all so here we go. A meeting was held at the Shire of York while I was on holiday. Present were representatives from the Departments of Water, Sports and Rec and Parks and Wildlife. The outcome was that it was a non starter. According to one of the representatives the possibility of getting all stakeholders to agree is zero. And do not go to the Minister because it will make matters worse. So instead we are going back to square one. The Shire of Yo...rk is going to help us make a plan and to resubmit the Lotteries West application under their banner. They have a lot more experience with this stuff than we do. The goal is to raise $25,000 to employ a consultant. Our Shire representative has asked for two things. 1) A copy of our grant application which I have already done. 2) Letters of support from important people and regular folks as well. These can be emailed to us at [email protected] or mailed to us at Walk to York 180 Avon Terrace, York, WA, 6302 All letters of support will be gratefully received. Thanks guys John Fenn Treasurer.

05.01.2022 Yesterday a meeting was held at the Shire of York to discuss this project. However I was unable to attend as the time of the meeting was changed at the last minute and I had appointments scheduled. So I shall find out the outcome of that meeting and let you know.

05.01.2022 AGM Our first ever AGM will be held at the York CRC on 15th March at 6:00pm. If you want to volunteer to be on the committee or to be a Secretary, Treasurer or Chairerson please email us at [email protected] and we shall put your name on the board. We also need to ratify the constitution and if you want to read it let us know at [email protected] and we shall email you a copy.

04.01.2022 We all got a big set back b y the poor reception of DPAW and we had to do some thinking about it. However on reading the notes it turns out not to be a definite NO. What he said was "Prove to me ... yada yada." and then he gave us a list of things we need to prove. So we shall be meeting again soon to work on that. Meanwhile write us a letter of support and send it to [email protected] or send it to W2Y 180 Avon Terrace, York, WA, 6302 We really need those letters to put to Lotteries West in order to raise the money for the Track Consultant.

03.01.2022 We need to come up with $25,000 to employ a track consultant to plan and negotiate the track line with 3 Shires and 3 government departments. We have 2 quotes of about $25000. I submitted a grant application off to the Shire of York for $5000 as a starter. Lotteries west are not real enthusiastic with a new organisation like ours but if we have say 1/3 too 1/2 they will probably do the remainder. Next is a crowd funding submission for $15,000. I hope to have it up on this site by the first week of December.

03.01.2022 Until we get a committee and they put a price on it we are taking memberships for free. Fill this out and email to [email protected] or fax it to 9641 2327 Thanks guys for the contacts

02.01.2022 Yesterday I received word that the Shire of York are going to kick in $5000 towards the funding of the consultant. Also I am talking with the Wheatbelt Development Commission and that look hopeful. Fingers crossed guys!

01.01.2022 Went to the Shire of Mundaring yesterday to see about grant money, also Dome in Mundaring, Bendigo Mundaring and Bendigo York. The goal is $12,500 and then we can submit to Lotteries West for the remainder. So far we are at $5000 thanks to the Shire of York. Also start thinking aboiut branding for our new venture, an integrated package for the track, for the stationary, for products down the line and for publications. Any suggestions please to [email protected] Calling on expressions of in terest in joing our organisation. Please email me at [email protected] or call me at 0447 686 566. We need to have an initial AGM and get some office bearers organised, also membership and also a constitution.
