25.01.2022 Something for you to ponder today.

24.01.2022 Some great news for Victorian parkruns. We are starting back in January!!

24.01.2022 This weeks parkrun profile is from Clancy. Clancy managed to squeeze in a parkrun in Canada this year before they were suspended. 1st park run? Ballarat Vic park... How many park runs have you done? Officially Ive done 17, How many without a barcode. probably 30 Have you been a park run tourist before? Ive done 11 different locations in total. These are mostly in Victoria but I have done a couple interstate and one in Canada. Burnaby central park run in Canada has been the most unique one Ive done. I arrived there on the train at 8:40am, right next to the start line. It was snowing lightly at -3 degrees. Not enough to settle on the ground but very cold. The massive 130-year-old cedars cover the 250-acre park. A highlight of the run was seeing a Chipmunk in the middle of the trail and charging up a tree! What makes wallaby park run special The diversity of trail surroundings Trees, bridges, tunnels and gates.

24.01.2022 parkrun Australia has a Spotify playlist which is a great listen for those who enjoy a few tunes while they run. It got us thinking as well though, if we had a Wallaby Track playlist, what song would you request to be on it? https://open.spotify.com//fw2csqu68scxyyc9tun2n6c61/playli

23.01.2022 We know many of you are still getting out to the Wallaby Track for a run, walk or ride and enjoying the lovely scenery. We have a guess the spot question for you today. Has anyone noticed this Groot face along the track somewhere? Its not on the track, but you can spot it from the track. Do you know where it is?

11.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who participated in the Wallaby Track parkrun Scavenger Hunt. We had some great entries with a few people using some creativity when it came to finding a wallaby. (Eg: playground equipment & the Wildlife Park) Congratulations to our top 5 entrants. Bruce Purdie Bruce Gavin... Jennifer Cashin Lucy Coulter Mel Rylance & kids Here are a few of our favourite photos for you to enjoy!

11.01.2022 Time for another Wallaby Track profile. This week we are hearing from one of junior parkruners, Lucy. Name: Lucy Coulter When did you first start parkrun?... Why did you start? Gran & Pop use to look after me while Mum & Dad run parkrun, but then they moved to Geelong so I had to go with them. I love it now. Just dont like getting out of bed. How many parkruns have you done? 52 What is your favourite volunteer role? Barcode Scanning. Its fun. What do you love about parkrun? The people, giving hi 5s & seeing people smile. Have you been a parkrun tourist before? If yes, where was your favourite? Yes, Phillip Island because of the view you get the whole way around. Do you have any parkruns on your bucket list that you would love to visit? Ashton Court parkrun because we met Richard from there when running Merimbula parkrun. Also Peppertree parkrun because they have a fairy garden you run through. What makes Wallaby Track parkrun so special to you? I use to ride along this track with my family before it was a parkrun and I have enjoyed starting it with my family.

09.01.2022 Its Saturday & that means joke time at Wallaby Track. Hope this makes you smile on this rainy day.

08.01.2022 In recognition of National Volunteer week we would like to share this video to thank all those who have volunteered to make parkrun happen each week. We have an awesome team of vollabies at Wallaby Track parkrun for which we are really greatfull. I also know that every parkrun has a great team of volunteers working hard to make such a great event possible.

08.01.2022 We know we are all missing parkrun so we thought we would bring a bit of parkrun to you. Every week parkrun is not on we aim to bring you a parkrun profile. This week we have started with Terrence. Terrence was meant to be our run director for the first time on Saturday, so we thought you could meet him this way instead. If you would like to be featured in our parkrun profiles, simply answer the questions in the comments and message or email them to us with a photo of you. Al...ternatively, if there is someone you would like to nominate, send us a message and we will get in touch with them. Name: Terrence Morse When did you first start parkrun? My First parkrun was the 4th Janurary 2020 Why did you start? To be honest I was roped in by Aaron and Laurinda, They sent me a message saying that there were going to start up Wallaby track and I went to support them. How many parkruns have you done? I think I am up to number 6/7. What is your favourite volunteer role? So far my favourite role is the barcode scanner. I think its cheering people to the finish line and seeing them nearly collapse when they get to you but then 5 minutes later they have the biggest smiles on their faces as the runner high hits. What do you love about parkrun? I love community. You have people from all fitness levels, all walks of life and all different motivations for coming each week meeting in 1 place for a common goal, to go and run/walk 5k in the fastest time they can. Its the lack of ego from everyone. Everyone encourages each other and its something that not every community event has. Its special Have you been a parkrun tourist before? If yes, where was your favourite? No I havent, I havent even tried out Ballarat Do you have any parkruns on your bucket list that you would love to visit? There isnt one park run that I would love to run but I would like to put together a list of the nicest courses. I guess the only way to do that is to become a tourist What makes Wallaby Track parkrun so special to you? 1. The people, The vollabies and the participants, 2. The setting, on a clear morning like the ones weve had recently you seriously cant find a better track, not being exposed too much to the elements, running through forrest like terrain, then you add a couple of hills, Its a more difficult course than others but you dont notice because of the setting that it is. When you combine a perfect location with a great bunch of people then you get a really effective community activity and as far as Im concerned its one of the best getting around.

08.01.2022 Its Saturday and at the moment that means parkrun joke day! Here is todays joke, answer will be in comments in 30min. Put your guesses in the comments (no googling) and be creative.

07.01.2022 Ballarat parkrun have been getting some great (not)parkrun numbers lately. They were in 3rd place last week and they have been up at number 2 before. We would love to see them reach number 1 so we are asking all parkrunners to jump onto their parkrun profile and log a (not)parkrun for Ballarat. You can log multiple (not)parkruns in one week and you can log them for different parkruns. You simply change your home parkrun, log your (not)parkrun and then change you home parkrun back. Let’s see if we can help them to number 1!

07.01.2022 One more day to submit your Scavenger Hunt photos. Tip fo those who have been having trouble trying to match the photo, it is now a lot easier to see because the water level is a bit lower.

06.01.2022 This week it is your turn!!!

06.01.2022 Sorry for the blurry photos but we were a little bit excited to be attending the online Keep Victoria Beautiful Awards tonight. Our joint submission for the Wallaby Track parkrun and the Ballarat parkrun was a finalist in the Community Social Well-Being and the Community categories. A huge Kudos to Kylie Mayne for preparing and presenting the submissions to the judging panel. While we weren't successful on this occasion it was humbling to be considered for these awards among...st so many other passionate groups and amazing projects. To our own parkrun Community, let's keep our fingers crossed and plan to get together again soon.

03.01.2022 Due to all the egg-citement of Easter, we forgot to put up our regular parkrun joke of the week. This week weve given you a special Easter themed joke that you can use to get some kudos from your kids. Answer will be in the comments soon, but please feel free to have a guess.

03.01.2022 Here is this weeks parkrun update.

02.01.2022 Heres a bit of fun for the week. Here is your parkrun nickname. Next time you are on a zoom meeting, change your name to your parkrun nickname!

02.01.2022 You have still got 2 days to complete the Wallaby Track Scavenger Hunt. (See previous post for list) It is great to see a lot of people out on the track searching for the answers. Check out the picture below if you are unsure what a parkrun t-shirt looks like.

01.01.2022 Saturday at Wallaby Track means joke time. Have a guess at this one. We will post the answer in 34min. (The average finish time for Wallaby Track parkrun)
