While the winds on the lake were, up the group started in the clubhouse with some of the necessary fundamentals. Next Thursday the 15th of October from 3 pm we hope to be on the water with better winds.

24.01.2022 Drew at Wet Tech Rigging is a champion MG sailor. Check out these tapered spinnaker sheets! He's inspiring me to learn more splices, and I'm gradually getting more on my boats. Endless loops; where the end goes back across the boat and around Eye-splices; stronger and neater than knots Maybe tapered sheets next! Wet Tech has a bargain bin, where roll offcuts suitable for our boats can be obtained cheaply. These ropes are ideal for splicing.... - posted by Tony See more

21.01.2022 Close racing in the short course series. 6 short races each day over 3 different weekends. Best to keep the boat flat though. By Terry K

20.01.2022 Ewan setting up the topper, while Regina and Phil get Shearwater, the club pacer, ready for a sail. Together with Imogen and Bree as a family group, they have been attending our learn to sail lessons. Keen beginning sailors progressing well. By Terry K.

20.01.2022 Hi folks, We have just held our AGM, with most of last years team still at the helm. We do have a new publicity officer in Mark Gerrand. Our thanks goes to Tony Hastings who has been a fantastic publicity officer over the past years. We are getting ready for next season, one we hope that sees all peoples of our little space ship safe and well. In our corner we hope to have a full seasons sailing on Wallagoot Lake. We will be starting our Women's and Girls mid week sailing gro...up from the start of October, as daylight savings begins. We plan to run on Thursday afternoons, from 2 to 6 to begin with. The group will start with an information afternoon at the club house. Fees will be the same as for the Saturday morning sail school. I will post more information closer to October. 19.01.2022 Sabre bargain! Beautiful colour too

18.01.2022 While the wind did not blow, the sun was out, which was great for the working bee. Thanks to all those hard workers and to Sian Morton for the photo

17.01.2022 This week at Wallagoot Lake. Ian Curtis and his family on his Dennis trailer sailer. The lake is still up. The view is towards the beach and the mouth of Monks creek, when it is open. By Terry K

16.01.2022 Storm clouds over Wallagoot. The club managed one handicap race before the clouds came in, in race 2 and chased everyone onto the shore. Thanks to Derek and Ian who were our race officers and took the photos. By Terry K

15.01.2022 Jeff and I (Tony) were Officers of the Day. Here are the top 42 of the 424 photos I took. Crazy wind; rotated 520 degrees anti-clockwise throughout the 2 races. It averaged 4 knots, dropped to 0 and peaked at 7. Race 1 turned into a 2 1/2 hour marathon. We missed our chance to shorten it, as it looked like the wind was building but then it died. Race 2 was a shorter course, but still dragged on for 1 1/2 hours, with the fleet sitting on glass at the final mark. Well done Todd... and Tiller Helton, winning both races on their NS14. Rob Morton 2nd in race 1, Gote Vikstrom 3rd. Bob Harris 2nd in Race 2, Terry Kirby 3rd. See more

12.01.2022 story & pics from Batemans Bay Sailing Club, Off the Beach Division: They came from the south, two fast boys from Wallagoot Lake, near Bega. Tony, sailing his 14 foot Paper Tiger, Shockwave Supernova won the first race on Yardstick, leaving all the locals shocked by his speed on our course. This could not be allowed to continue and Rick the Bodalla Bandit sailed a brilliant second race to score the triple, first over the line, first on Yardstick and first on Handicap. Rick s...ailed his old Maricat 14 no name yet. Shockwave was third across the line, but took second on Yardstick Batemans Bay Sailing Club races at Coila Lake near Tuross Head are scored on a Yardstick formula which allows all the boats to have a fair race. We also use a personal Handicap system, just like the golfers. Thomas was very cheerful to find he had won the first race on Handicap with his Hobie 17 Obnoxious in Victory, Surly in Defeat. With his handicap adjusted, he took second place in the second race. Defending catamaran champion Ben from Narooma was first across the line in Race One, but not far enough ahead to claim a Yardstick win on his very fast Taipan 16 Knockout. Ben sailed solo, without either daughter Anna or Lucy, the forward hands who took turns with him last season. Allan and Deb on the Windrush trailer sailor catamaran Tradewind struggled on their first race, but improved in the second to take third on Yardstick. Only practising today, said Rod, the other invader from the south, but he promised to be back with Mongoose the fast and flighty Alpha Omega catamaran he bought from our own Bodalla Bandit. Rod looked ominous, charging across the lake out on trapeze with his red spinnaker flying. Local champion Richard was unchallenged in Division Two on his Laser dinghy Sparkles. Two more Lasers were doing learn to sail on the lake and the club has a Spiral dinghy Twista for the use of members. If you have a dinghy or catamaran or would like to sail Twista, call Allan on 0417 400 892. A sunny day, a good breeze, six catamarans and three dinghies all made for a marvellous day for Batemans Bay Sailing Club members and visitors on Coila Lake. Thanks to our Support Boat crew Harley and Mary and our Race Control Officer Terry for a safe and well run competition. Full results are on the Batemans Bay Sailing Club website at https://www.bbsc.org.au/Off-the-Beach Upcoming race days are 22 November, 6 and 20 December. For more information, contact Allan Rees, 0417 400 892. See more

12.01.2022 Unfortunately the first races of the season were cancelled today, with winds often gusting over 25 knots, from the south-west. Winds from that direction are typically shifty and gusty, which makes sailing challenging, and winds of that strength often breaks gear. The good news is next Saturday looks fine, with a 15-knot northerly.

11.01.2022 On Saturday the 31st of October 6 boats sailed in our handicap races. 12 to 16 SE winds and significant rain met the fleet on the lake. Race one saw Bob Harris in his Sabre Stormy Petrel cross the line first. Tony Hastings on his Paper Tiger Shockwave Supernova, came in second with Mike Stove in his Sabre, Fancy third. The second race saw Tony on his Paper Tiger first. Derek Lewis on his Contender Roughie second and Bob Harris on his Sabre third. Below we have Bob on the Sabre, Tony on the Paper Tiger, Derek on the Contender and Rod sailing his F14 for the first time. Two new cats sailed on Wallagoot for shake down sails. They will certainly add to the competition in the cat fleet. Thanks to Sian and Rob Morton as our Race Officers for the day. By Terry Kirby

11.01.2022 Exciting first race for the season, in 10 - 20 knot winds. Neil overtook his Sabre rivals and led for most of the handicap-start race, while I (Tony) caught him on the last lap to claim the win. Neil narrowly held on the second place, ahead of Rod and Terry. Race two was abandoned as the wind increased to 25+.

10.01.2022 Fairly interesting conditions out there today; 0 to 20 knots with 45 degree swings. Of the 11 boats sailing, 3 capsized and 2 others had the skipper go overboard. All of them had moments of calm reflection and some wild rides. Neil Fisher won of both races, through excellent boat handling, and brilliant tactics. Terry Kirby finished second in both races, within boat lengths of claiming the win in race one. Rob Morton was third in race one, and Derek Lewis was third in race two. Rod Anderson won both multihull races, again through excellent boat handling, keeping his Maricat going at top speed regardless of what weather came in, while the other two cats appeared to struggle for control. Terry Ubrihien finished second in both and Mark Gerrard third.

10.01.2022 Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club invites all to the 2020 Snowy Mountains Regatta, from 4th to 6th December 2020.

09.01.2022 The theme is new to this season. We have Jamie learning to sail on the MG with Tony, Geoff back on the lake with his Devoti, Luca on the Moth and Jarrah and Josh on the NS. Great to see. by Terry K

07.01.2022 Our Women's and Girl's group take to the water. Not a lot of wind, meant is was tricky sailing.

07.01.2022 While the lake is up and looking fantastic, there is no wind. Thanks to Sian Morton for the photo.

07.01.2022 WLBC sailors are famously laid-back, more interested in having fun than being competitive. Sabre Series: 1 Terry Kirby, 2 Neil Fisher, 3 Sian Morton Sprint Series winner: Rob Morton Rising Star: Rod Anderson Best Female Sailor: Sian Morton Best Youth Sailor: Jarrah Dorrough Full results: Pointscore: http://wlbc.org.au//2/10/Pointscore-2019-2020-Series4.html Handicap-start: http://wlbc.org.au//2019/10/Handicap-2019-2020-Series2.html Sprint Series: http://wlbc.org.au//wp/uploads/2019/10/Sprint-Series2.html

05.01.2022 Good news-- the lake is back. It's near the top of the main ramp, and almost up to the rock in the rigging area. Monks Creek continues to fill it, so it may rise a little more.

Should you like to sit around (in a covid safe manner) and have a chat after the AGM bring your own lunch and drinks (we still have some drinks left over at the club).
