12.01.2022 Hi All, Reminder that WFC's ZL1 Pre-Xmas kick will be going ahead this weekend. The location has been updated to Cook Park, Shortland. We have it on good report that Cook Park is currently the best playing surface in Newcastle thanks to Groundskeeper Dan. Keep up the good work Daniel Byatt.... Aim to start at 8am to beat the heat, and pull up by 10am. BBQ and drinks after. A second session will take place at the same time next weekend. Look forward to seeing all current and future devils for the last kick of 2020. Cheers, WFC ZL1 Ps. promise no beep tests
11.01.2022 SIGNING NEWS: Wallsend FC Zone League is extremely excited to announce that Marc Hingston will be returning as Head Coach for the 2021 Season. Marc joined us to tackle the 2020 Season and was immediately thrown a spicy little curve ball known as COVID-19. Despite this, through his excellent leadership and football knowledge, Marc proved just how much of a Devil he is by leading the lads to the First Grade premiership. Marc's ability to connect with the playing group, plan en...ergetic and rewarding training sessions combined with a premiership made this appointment a no brainer and the highest priority for the committee this off season. We are extremely thrilled to see Marc returning and we look forward to watching the playing group strengthen and further their development under his guidance for a second straight season. 04.01.2022 The Zone League 1 division of Wallsend F.C. & Wallsend Junior Football Club wish to apologise to Sonia Hornery MP and her office for making comments on social media that may have been taken as accusations of inappropriate behaviour when allocating grant funding to the local electorate in the most recent round of Community Building Partnership Grants. Be assured that no such accusation was intended. Indeed, Sonia and her team have brought a refreshing level of transparency and... collaboration to a process that has been historically opaque and yielded frustratingly little results in the past. Wallsend’s ZL1 division has had a particularly hard time finding a suitable venue out of which to call home so that we can play our brand of football. After moving away from the Wallsend No.1/No.2 following some serious, season-ending injuries to our players during matches (we continue to maintain that it is not feasible to play competitive matches on turf cricket pitches), we made the move to Cook Park with the long term goal of transforming a previously unused and poorly maintained local park into a field that Shortland’s locals can be proud of and we can refer to as our 'Wembley'. Frustratingly and despite many hours of volunteer time in discussion with stakeholders, researching of solutions, scoping improvements, justifying of actions and strategies, writing of applications and even offers to spend our own money the early stages of this goal have been unattainable. Through all this, however, Sonia and her team have listened and supported our attempts to improve the local sporting infrastructure and facilities, even when our applications were not ready for government grant support. We are Sorry Sonia! Comments may not always have intention to cause harm and this does not mean that they will not do so. We as a committee have placed a lot of volunteer hours and efforts into building relationships within the community and hope to rectify the offence caused. We look forward to continuing to work with you, your team, City of Newcastle Parks and Rec Team, City of Newcastle Strategic Planning Team, Newcastle Football, Northern NSW Football, Newcastle District Cricket Association and Newcastle C&S Cricket Association in developing a suitable, safe venue to play competitive football in Wallsend.

02.01.2022 Hey Devs, Wallsend Football Club needs your help! Today is the last day to make submissions regarding City of Newcastle's Strategic Sports Plan which outlines how funding will be allocated to develop and improve sporting facilities across the city for the next decade. There was little consideration in the proposed strategy to support Wallsend Football Club or football in the Western Corridor in general. ... We humbly ask that everyone of our players, members and supporters take two minutes of your time to make a submission supporting Wallsend Football Club. Simply follow this link, fill out your details and provide your feedback. We've made it even easier by providing a standard response in the comments below that can be copied and pasted into the feedback section. Just add your name! Thank you very much for your support. Up the reds!
