17.01.2022 World Suicide Prevention Day Suicide has a devastating impact on families and the community. Knowing the warning signs can help you to help others. There are many avenues out there to help improve mental health and get through tough times. One of the first things to try is chatting to a Psychologist to help put things in perspective and work on strategies to stay strong. They can also refer on if more services are needed.... Our Psychologists - Barb and Chris can be seen without a GP referral (though a GP can unlock access to Medicare funding). Like all of our services, Psychologists can be booked online, anytime at www.wallsendhealthhub.com.au/bookonline.html

11.01.2022 #COVID19 PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT (8:05PM) - #NEWCASTLE DISTRICT Since the alert last night (5 August, 8.15pm), a second case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in N...ewcastle; a close contact of the teenager announced yesterday. The District is continuing to investigate the source of that case’s infection. This latest case is a male in his 20s. If you have been to the following venues at the specific time, follow the advice attached. IMMEDIATELY ISOLATE AND GET TESTED BENNETT HOTEL, HAMILTON - Friday, July 31 from 5:30PM - 10:00PM BAR 88, WESTS NEW LAMBTON - Sunday, August 2 from 5:00PM - 7:15PM SYDNEY JUNCTION HOTEL, HAMILTON - Saturday, August 1 from 11:00PM - 1:15AM on Sunday, August 2. The venues have been notified and are undergoing cleaning. Contact tracing is underway. BE ALERT FOR SYMPTOMS, GET TESTED IF SYMPTOMS DO OCCUR GREENROOF HOTEL, HAMILTON - Friday, July 31 from 10:30PM - 12:15AM SUSHI REVOLUTION, HAMILTON - Saturday, August 1 from 12:00PM - 12:45PM QUEENS WHARF HOTEL, NEWCASTLE - Saturday, August 1 from 9:30PM - 11:00PM MCDONALD JONES STADIUM, BROADMEADOW - Sunday, August 2 from 7:30PM - End of game, Newcastle Jets Match. The above public health recommendations follow a rigorous contact tracing process where an infected individual’s movements and interactions are analysed. This enables the Public Health unit to determine if there was a reasonable chance other individuals may have been infected with the virus. In this case they would be considered a close contact and required to self-isolate until 14 days after they last saw the person or attended a place where that person visited, even if they are feeling well. Casual contact includes instances where transmission is less likely. For example where someone had less than 15 minutes face-to-face contact over the course of a week with a confirmed case, or was in the same closed space with them for less than two hours. Casual contacts are not required to self-isolate, but are still encouraged to seek testing should they develop symptoms. 08.01.2022 Stay Calm But Diligent We've seen the crippling impact that Covid-19 has had overseas and that has lead to some strict guidelines from the government here, and ...a lot of confusion from the general public. The good news is, acting together at this point in time when Covid-19 hasn't spread too far in Australia can make a huge difference in minimising the impact the virus has on our day to day lives. We are still open for business as usual and are taking a few extra precautions to be extra safe: 1Washing our hands more than usual, and encouraging you to wash hands before and after a session (remember soapy water kills the virus instantly!) 2Encouraging anyone with a sore throat, runny nose or cough to stay home until they are feeling better (just call us to reschedule, we won't charge a cancellation fee) 3We'll be wiping down surfaces much more than usual to be extra safe. At this stage, only 2 people in the Hunter region have been confirmed with Covid-19 so we're lucky to have minimal risk of catching it. We have seen how quickly it can spread though so it's up to everyone to do their part to act smart and be hygienic! If we all do our bit, life will be back to normal before we know it
