25.01.2022 Wow. So we had a drop of rain on Thursday night and Friday. 128mm fell during Thursday night - the highest May rainfall event recorded for Hobart since records have been kept. Unfortunately there was some property damage - cars swept away, and businesses flooded - but no lives lost. Hobartians are turning out to help those who have suffered loss - Cascade Hotel, and other businesses have had loads of locals helping with their cleanup. Great to see such community spirit. I took these photos just around the corner from home.

23.01.2022 Ritter's Track to the Walls of Jerusalem, October 2018. Six days on my own on Tassie's Central Plateau. Amazing!

23.01.2022 Last Sunday !, along with about 5,000 other concerned citizens, wandered up the Hobart Rivulet linear park to the lovely Cascade Gardens to join Bob Brown, Andrew Wilkie, and Richard Flanagan among others in protesting the proposed Mount Wellington Cable Car. The opaque and secretive government approval process is just as divisive as the indelible scar this privately owned tourism bad idea will leave on our beautiful and iconic kunanyi.

21.01.2022 French's Farmhouse on Maria Island was built in 1936. Farming ceased on Maria Island when the Tasmanian government started buying properties prior to declaring the island a National Park in the early 70s.

20.01.2022 Well, after a couple of years being inactive on Facebook, I have a new walk report for you: https://bit.ly/2ZdtgYD

18.01.2022 Hello again Friends! I'M back with an update to our Overland Adventure! I have been working on the logistics of the walk. Please check out what I have put together so far, and leave your comments. http://wanderingtasmania.com.au//overland-adventure-logis/

15.01.2022 In early March I wandered out over the Rodway Range to near Mount Field West. The first day was ideal, with beautiful sunshine, warm temperatures, and a cloudless day. When I woke on the second day things had changed somewhat, with nearly a whiteout, and drizzle. So I headed back out. Still a very enjoyable walk!

14.01.2022 Hello to all my Fabulous Friends! For the past few days I have been wandering over one of Tassie's magnificent islands - Maria Island. It has a fascinating history - two convict eras, an agricultural period when a 99 hectare vineyard was planted and sheep were farmed, and an industrial period when Portland cement was made. That all finished during the Great Depression, and now the island is a National Park, home to some of Tasmania's iconic fauna - wombats, Forester kangaroos, bettongs, Bennett's wallabies, and Tasmanian devils to name a few. Here are a few moments I captured.

11.01.2022 This Wandering Tasmanian is having fun wandering around Brisbane's Southbank! I'm only here for the weekend, so trying to get some quality walking in given the short time frame.

09.01.2022 Hi friends! I wandered up to one of my favorite National Parks today - Mt Field. This is Lady Barron Falls in the Park.

09.01.2022 Well, first post for a while! I wandered down to the Tasmanian Bushland Garden last night for the first night of the Festival of Voices to see Van Walker and Frenté. Magnificent setting, great music, and -3C over night! I camped at the back of the Buckland Inn.

09.01.2022 I wandered down to the City of Hobart Bushcare event in the Queens Domain Pinetum for a cultural heritage walk and working bee. Arborist Jerry Romansky led a fascinating walk through the exotic pines surrounding the Botanical Gardens, giving insights to the history, origin, and variety of the conifers in the area.

07.01.2022 Most of my food for the next 6 days! I dehydrate a lot of it. All the veggies are parboiled before dehydrating, reducing cooking time. I also dehydrated and powdered cheeses, cauliflowers, and curried pumpkin.

07.01.2022 Dove Lake, with Cradle Mountain in the background, the day before my walk.

05.01.2022 My recent Overland Track experience had many highlights, and Innes Falls was one such special moment. I dropped my pack half way between Waterfall Valley and Lake Windermere for the short walk out to Lake Will, nestled under the majestic Barn Bluff. Innes Falls is on Lake Will’s outlet creek.

05.01.2022 I decided on a Hilleberg Soulo as my new single-person tent. Strong, compact, but still with great headroom. It's probably overkill for most applications, but not for Tassie's Central Plateau in my opinion.

05.01.2022 Provisioning and gear acquisition underway for an 8-day sojourn on Tassie’s Central Plateau during the school holidays. I’ll be attempting Ritter’s cattle route to Walls of Jerusalem again.

04.01.2022 Overland Adventure - update. As promised, here is where the hard work of good preparation has started in order to make MY walk challenging and memorable for the right reasons: wanderingtasmania.com.au - once there select the Preparation menu tab. You can also wander the site for other information. I'd love you to join me on this planning journey - suggestions and comments are welcome! And I'm looking forward to sharing the experience with you all through the photos.

03.01.2022 Wow! It’s been a while! Today I leave for MY Overland Adventure. I finally have had the time to plan and get ready for the trip. Photos to come
