Please know you are not alone and support is always available Lifeline is urging Victorians to reach out to them. Call 13 11 14.

17.01.2022 Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. In 2014, our CEO and founder, Jake Edwards, attempted to take his own life. From his recovery, Outside the Locker Room was born. Today, we’re deeply committed to providing the education and support people need to look after each other. Please help us share the following messages:... #1. It’s okay to ask someone if they’re having thoughts of suicide it will not put the idea in their head. While it’s a difficult question to ask, it will show that you care and want to support them no matter what. #2. Learn: The warning signs of suicide What can put people at risk of suicide What can protect people from suicide Thanks to our friends at Beyond Blue for these fantastic resources. #3. Suicide affects us all. While men take their own lives more often than women, on #womenshealthweek we want to highlight that women plan and attempt suicide more often than men. #4. Support is always available. Reach out to Lifeline, Suicide Call Back Service or Beyond Blue. In an emergency always call 000. #wspd #wspd2020 #stigmastopshere #morethanjustagame #womenshealthweek

Our welfare champions break down barriers to seeking professional support, by putting a face to the name of a counsellor, psychologist or psychotherapist. Becoming the face of mental health in your community? We take that job very seriously, so we partner with bodies like the Australian Counselling Association, who act as an avenue for qualified counse...llors and psychotherapists to join our team, and ensure we meet ethical standards and best practice. 11.01.2022 Pain, psychology, sport. This may be our best interview yet, and a must-watch for any athlete. 2020’s theme for #NationalPsychologyWeek is pain, so we interviewed Rob Schutze, a clinical psychologist specialising in pain, and Peter O'Sullivan, a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist focussing on the management of complex pain disorders. We discuss how pain, injury and sport are interlinked, and how managing both the physiology and psychology of pain can support athlete...s to recover. 06.01.2022 Today marks Remembrance Day, where we remember those who died or suffered serving Australia in wars or conflicts. As this week also marks NAIDOC week and National Psychology Week, we wanted to: Draw attention to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers, like Sapper Herbert Murray (pictured centre) who served on the Western Front in 1917.
