20.01.2022 ELASTIC IS THE NEW TOILET PAPER! First it was toilet paper, now elastic is proving hard to get your hands on. Susan Callus owns a sewing and patchwork busin...ess, My Little Patch, in Wangaratta and she's had to limit sales of elastic to regular customers only because she's running so low. She says the number of customers to her store has doubled since Friday with people seeking elastic to make their own face masks. "Customers say their families in Melbourne have rung to say 'we can't get elastic can you get hold of it?'. I had a lady ring from out of town to say 'do we have any hat elastic?' and i had to say 'sorry if you're not a regular i can' t supply you because I've only got a limited amount'." Susan's not hopeful supplies will be replenished anytime soon - her suppliers have told her Melbourne is being prioritised. Instead she's resorted to using hair ties in her homemade face masks.
