25.01.2022 Warneet Needs Answers! We need to know why Parks Victoria would allow these jetties to deteriorate to a state that makes them unusable. Since closing the jetties on 4 June Parks Vic have made no effort to repair them.

23.01.2022 Hi All, I believe there have been concerns by the residents and the boating community regarding the closure of the Warneet North Jetty and the southern end of the South Jetty (Concrete Jetty) I have spoken directly with Parks Victoria and have been informed of the following.... Parks Victoria have completed a report of all Jetty’s they manage in Eastern Victoria, of the Jetty’s they inspected 44 were deemed to be unsafe and have temporarily been closed until Parks Victoria Engeneers can assess each Jetty. The reasons the Jetty’s have been closed is they have been deemed that they are unable to safely carry pedestrian load limits. At this stage there is no advise as yet to remove either Jetty. I will remain in regular contact with Parks Vic and will update you if the situation changes.

20.01.2022 Hi All, I have spoken to the various clubs and associations within Warneet and have informed them of my next actions regarding the Warneet jetties. I wanted to now inform you, the residents and community of my next actions.... It has been decided that the Warneet Motor Yacht Club will petition Parks Victoria for the restoration of the jetties. I have spoken with the office of Neale Burgess( State Member for Hastings) regarding the current closure of the jetties and informed him that they are subject to Parks Victoria engineering inspections. Neale has informed me that he will be happy to table this petition in Parliament when Parliament resumes in August. Over the coming weekends a couple of volunteers will be conducting a door knock and will be seeking support to restore the jetties, we will be requesting that the residents sign the petition. It has been decided to do a door knock against an online petition as not everyone is online. The clubs and associations have been requested to write a letter of support also. Regards, Alex Stroud Commodore Warneet Motor Yacht Club

18.01.2022 I was nominated by an anonymous person/persons within Warneet Motor Yacht Club / Warneet Community for my contributions towards the YC & the community. Today I received an Australia Day Award. This was a great surprise to be acknowledged for my efforts.... Many thanks to the YC Committee, Members, the residents and community for your ongoing support and backing. I am really honoured! Thank you. Alex Stroud Commodore

18.01.2022 Hi all, Due to the Covid lockdown we are not able to complete a door knock to obtain support in the petition to save the jetties. This afternoon I have contacted the Legislative Council of Victoria(LCV) to request sponsorship for an online petition to be tabled in Parliament.... Following my phone call to the LCV I sent them an email outlining the concern and the importance of the jetties to Warneet and the wider communities who use them. Should The LCV sponsor the petition I will formalise an online petition and circulate it amongst the Warneet community for support. Regards, Alex Stroud Commodore Warneet Motor Yacht Club
