21.01.2022 25th November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women as designated by the United Nations General Assembly. Central Coast Against Domestic Violence usually holds a walk at The Entrance however, due to COVID-19, this annual walk had to be cancelled. Instead, community groups are encouraged to hold their own smaller walks. Judith Kinder, of Warnervale Regional Uniting Church, recently organised for the wheelies & the walkers at Nareen Terrace, a... retirement community on the Central Coast, to hold a walk around their village at Hamlyn Terrace. Although not all the ladies are members of WRUC congregation, there are several familiar faces among the group. CCADV has chosen the slogan of Domestic Abuse it is your business. See Something. Do Something. Thank you, ladies of Nareen Terrace, for standing up against Domestic & Family Violence and for showing that domestic violence is everybody’s business and there is no age limit to taking a stand. 10.01.2022 Dear Warnervales, We begin Advent Bible Readings. Let us do zooming next Wednesday (2 December) at 9.30 am. Here are three Apostles Readings of Week 1. ... Please have a time of reflection alone and join in together via zoom. WEEK 1: A Time for Thanksgiving 1. God’s Grace: 1 Corinthians 1.3-9 As in most of his letters, Paul follows the opening greeting by telling the Corinthians what he thanks God for when he thinks of them. Notice how he moves from what has happened to them in the past, through the sort of people they are in the present and to the hope they have for the future, with Jesus at the centre at every stage. For Reflection or Discussion In what ways do you see your church as part of a worldwide family? How does this enable you to call on Jesus? 2. Thanksgiving in Suffering: 2 Corinthians 1.8-11 For Paul, human beings give thanks to God, something at the heart of the universe comes back into proper shape. Humans thanking the creator for his goodness are a symptom of the way the world was meant to be, a sign that one day it really will be like that. For Reflection or Discussion Have you ever reached the point when you felt like giving up? How in those circumstances did you find your way back to God? 3. Prayer for Wisdom and Gratitude: Colossians 1.9-14 Paul, in prison, can help this process in two ways: by writing, as he is doing, but supremely by prayer. He may not be with the Colossians in person. But the God who is with them is also with him, and in the mystery (and hard work) of prayer, he can help their progress towards Christian maturity. For Reflection or Discussion Have you been able to see new Christians in your church growing in God’s wisdom? How do you express your gratitude for this? See you next Wednesday! Blessings, Rev. Sunny Lee Warnervale Hybrid (Online & in-person) Sunday Service We keep the live streaming service at 9.30 am Sunday via zoom. Our Sunday service is uploaded on Facebook and our website every Sunday. Also, we reopen the worship centre on Sunday 29 November. You can worship God in the church building. Due to the safety plan, we restrict numbers to 50 people. 08.01.2022 DESPAIR > HOPE > LOVE/CARE. Prepared by Rev Alan Swain 22nd November 2020 In August last year, Marilyn and I decided to travel for three weeks in our small motorhome to visit family in Canberra, Albury /Wodonga and then to return inland where large areas of NSW and elsewhere were still in the grip of terrible long-term drought. We travelled through Narrandera, West Wyalong, Forbes, Parkes, Trundle, Tullamore, Narromine and into Dubbo where our granddaughter lives. It was so ...Continue reading
