25.01.2022 Ducklings are out and crossing our roads with their parents, please slow down and respect our beautiful wildlife. These little orphaned fluffs are currently in care with our vet nurse. They require a special diet with lots of insects and heat lamps to keep them warm. These ducklings are Shelduck ducklings (mountain duck ). These ducks create permanent pair bonds, which means they often pair for life. The mother duck makes a nest high up in a hollow tree branch and the fat...her defends the nest and brood. They battle many predators on the ground like foxes, dogs and cats and from the air hawks and owls. We can help by being patient when they need to cross the road stop and enjoy that special moment of the parents walking the ducklings across the road. If you do find a orphaned ducklings we are always willing to provide medical care. Please bring them in immediately so we can give them the best chance.

We have a registered nurse who specialises in reptiles, so we always enjoy helping such awesome creatures. We treat wildlife for free, and work with carers to rehabilitate them straight back into their local environments. This Bobtail had a heavy tick burden. He was brought in and had 30 ticks removed. After a checkup he was good to be released

02.01.2022 Baby birds .. Baby birds that have outgrown the nest will fly from the nest to the ground, but their landing and take off skills are still developing. The babies spend several days hopping around on the ground, learning hunting, foraging skills and building muscles to fly. The mother bird is usually within calling distance of her youngster. She will return to feed the fledgling while it learns how to find its own food and fly efficiently. If the baby bird appears healthy in... most cases it’s best to leave the baby bird where it has the best chance of it integrating into its parents flock and living a happy life. There are a few situations which are genuine emergencies and you'll need to intervene to save the life of the baby bird. Symptoms of an injury or illness: *Falling over on their side *Wing tilted upward *Wings drooping on floor *Unable to flutter wings *Weak or shivering *Feathers fluffed *Attacked by a cat or dog *Bleeding If you find a baby bird with these issues or signs of ill health please bring them in to us for emergency treatment. Below is Joker. He is a baby kookaburra in the care of nurse Kellie. He is doing well after being brought into us. It won’t be long before he will be big enough to fly and start his new life.
