09.01.2022 SEED CYCLING What is it? Seed cycling is a natural method to help balance hormones and regulate your menstrual cycle. It is not the be all and end all but can be used as an additional tool to assist with any hormone associated conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, irregular menstrual cycles, acne, PMS, peri-menopause & menopause. The seeds you consume over the length of your cycle (pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds, sesame seeds and sunf...lower seeds) contain nutrients such as zinc, selenium, omega-3, omega 6 and lignans, which help bind to oestrogen and progesterone to bring them back into balance. How do I do it? Basically each menstrual cycle you alternate between having 2 different kinds of seeds for the first half (follicular phase) and switch seeds in the second half of your cycle (luteal phase). Start the seed cycling on Day 1 of your cycle (first day of bleeding) with 1tbsp of pumpkin seeds and 1tbsp freshly ground flaxseed, at Day 15 (around ovulation) of your cycle switch to 1tbsp of sunflower seeds and 1tbsp of sesame seeds. You can simply add the seeds to any meals throughout the day or you can make protein balls with the seeds added. If you dont currently have a cycle or have an irregular cycle, start your seed cycling with the new moon and then switch seeds with the full moon See more

02.01.2022 Endometriosis affects roughly 10% of women. Its as common as diabetes, yet doesnt get the same attention and has considerably less funding for research. The most common symptom of Endometriosis is severe period pain, which can be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. What is Endo?... Endometriosis occurs when the tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus (on the fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, intestines). Adhesions can form and as a result = PAIN! What causes it? Theres no known cause however its seen as an inflammatory disease affected by excess oestrogen. Environmental toxins, autoimmunity and gut infections are also suspected to play a role in the disease. How is it diagnosed? Because the symptoms of endometriosis are also symptoms of multiple disorders, a diagnosis of endometriosis can only be confirmed by visualisation with a laparoscopy (surgery). On average, it can take 7 years to get a diagnosis for endometriosis! Conventional treatment for endometriosis: Most women are offered pain relief medication or hormonal treatment options (such as the pill) to decrease the pain. Both these options mask the symptoms of Endometriosis without necessarily addressing the root cause. Surgery to remove the endometriosis is also an option, particularly if medicine hasnt helped, however studies have shown that endometriosis recurs at a rate of 20-40% within 5 years post surgery. So what else can you do? Consider alternative treatment options: - Acupuncture - Chinese Herbs/ Supplements - Lifestyle changes Lifestyle changes to consider: - Decrease inflammatory foods such as: dairy, gluten, corn products, soy products, eggs, vegetable/canola oil, any processed foods, alcohol, MSG. - Increase anti-inflammatory foods: Vegetables, Fruit, use healthy oils for cooking (olive oil, coconut oil). -Decrease your exposure to endocrine disruptors: plastics (BPA - bottles, containers, register receipts!), pesticides, fragrances (perfumes, air fresheners), limit screen time. -Reduce stress -Exercise -Get adequate sleep @ Warragul, Victoria See more
