08.01.2022 Saturday, 28 November 2020 Dear WRSS Families The 2020 school year has just days remaining and whilst we might be happy to see the back of the year that was, it... has also been a great and very exciting year. Warrigal Road State School is currently undergoing some cosmetic advances and there is much more to come. We can’t wait to show you our nips and tucks for a reveal in late January. Like everyone else over the Christmas and New Year break, our surgeons deserve a break too. In an attempt to have all the major and potentially interrupting works completed whilst the students are off site, we need to and are getting an early start. From Monday 30 November, building works are starting at the front of the school to facilitate the power upgrade for the new building. As a result, there will be no access to the school via the gate in front of Prep. All Prep students, entering from the Warrigal Road Entrance, will need to enter via the main gate at the front of the school (near the electronic sign) and enter the Prep classrooms via the back doors as per the attached map. The good thing for me is that I now get to meet everyone at the front gate and those crossing at the northern lights on Warrigal Road will get a few extra steps on their Fitbit’s. Learning is still occurring so you may need to adjust the after school meeting location with your child. Please don’t congregate outside the classrooms, your children are always excited to see you but they get distracted and miss that ever important reflection on their learning at the end of the lesson if you arrive too early. To the WRSS community I would like to say a huge thank you once again for your resilience, trust, patience and every increasing ability to ‘bend with the breeze’ as we continue to ask more and more from you with every changing covid safe practices. At the time of typing this there are eight school days remaining. All going to plan, student report cards will be released to your inbox and QParents on Tuesday 8 December and your child will bring home a letter detailing their planned allocated class and teacher for 2021 (if applicable). We have our awards assembly for Year 2&3 from 9am on Friday 4 December and Year 4&5 from 10am. Parents are unable to attend but these assemblies will be streamed live on our Facebook site. Please feel free to add emoji’s during the presentations. The last day of the school year is Wednesday 9 December concluding at 3pm. WRSS is truly an amazing place to be! Kindest Regards Andrew Ps I’m going to Dreamworld with the Year 6’s soon so keep an eye on our Facebook that day! WOOHOO!
