21.01.2022 Presentation at the MSNSW AGM of the Brian Hird Trophy for 2019. While Wett Ones took the BPS trophy for 2019 (well done, fantastic effort!) Warringah scored the most points at the two-day carnivals: State Short Course, State Long Course and the challenge of the mid-year open air Clarence River carnival. Well done troops!

19.01.2022 Vale Colin Casey - sad to report that Colin Casey who was one of our stalwart officials at competitions passed away last week from pneumonia and other complications. Col was dedicated to serving adult and junior competition and in fact was on the Warringah Aquatic Swim Club's Hall of Fame. In the world of adult swimming he could be found refereeing and judging stroke at Masters swimming carnivals across the country, refereed at the World Masters in Perth, and was a support...er of the Masters movement generally, in places like Alice Springs and on the Arafua Islands, and the Youth Olympics. In Masters swimming, who can forget an occasion when he was Judge of Stroke at the old Woy Woy pool where he was nudged into the water, some say by a disgruntled swimmer whom he had disqualified, but carried on as nothing had happened, slowly making his way to the steps while keeping a beady eye on those swimmers legitimately in the water. He was for a time Vice President of Warringah Masters and many of us will remember his sense of humour - dry enough to have been burnished by sandpaper!. Col retired from officiating and swimming some time ago, moving to the War Vets with his wife Denise. While there, he successfully fought a long battle against Stage 4 melanoma with experimental medication. He is survived by Denise, son Peter who many of you probably know, and numerous grandchildren. Graham Campbell President, Warringah Masters Swimming

19.01.2022 A busy Sunday morning training for Warringah Masters - 30+ swimmers being run through their paces by Mark Patterson and Paul Bailey. Also with us 3 swimmers from North Sydney Masters (NNS) whose pool is closed [Melody Xu, Meeky Lee and Kazuya ITAI]. Also swimming one of our most loved members, 90 y.o. Diana Moore and her still graceful freestyle. We do have a tryout offering where you can swim with us for 4 weeks before having to join our Club. Masters swimmers from other clubs welcome. A prerequisite for both is completing the Masters Swimming COVID health questionnaire / declaration available from [email protected]

18.01.2022 Great article from oceanswims.com outlining some of the considerations you should be making if swimming in the ocean at this time of year.

18.01.2022 Easy choice of where to be this morning ..... 33 swimmers this morning under the watchful eyes of Wilson Gamble, Chemene Sinson and Paul Bailey. ......

18.01.2022 Some more pics from this Sunday's training at Warringah Aquatic Centre. Great turnout again. We limit swimming to max. 5 per lane to (1) keep coaching manageable and (2) help maintain social distancing. It's difficult for swimmers to unlearn the habit of a lifetime of bunching at lane ends - the sign pictured goes under the blocks to remind swimmers to stay 1.5m apart.... Reminder: we also offer tryouts (subject to COVID status pe-qualification) and are signing new members ....

17.01.2022 A great video here from Swim Smooth, with some useful tips on how to get back into the swim of things as restrictions start to ease across Australia. https://www.youtube.com/watch

16.01.2022 Very happy to report that we've started the year winning the visitors pointscore at the Myall master's BPS meet. It was great to be back racing for club points again. Here's hoping we have a lot more fun racing, this year.

07.01.2022 Nearly a full house again with 39 swimmers in the pool and 3 coaches on deck. Three North Sydney (NNS) swimmers now a regular feature; and one new member this bright Sunday morning.

06.01.2022 Following on from Thursdays post on tips for open water swimming, if you are hankering for a swim while pool swimming is so restricted the ocean temp (~19.5C) is still about good enough for swimming without a wet suit (even better with one!). Whats more, you dont need to book ahead! You can check surf conditions and surf webcams for many beaches at https://www.coastalwatch.com/ or download the app. Warringah Masters President, not known for training outside of carniv...als, has been making up for it in the ocean with NWG, NNS, NRY and other swimmers. Picture maps of a couple of his recent swims attached. If open water too daunting, then you could try one of the Northern Beaches ocean pools. As always, check conditions and swim within your ability - its your choice.

06.01.2022 Todays MSNSW AGM saw Warringah Masters stalwart Tony Tooher retire from the MSNSW Board after many years service. Tony has in the past been our Club Captain and also President.
