25.01.2022 Jitta was very pleased to see this family taking advantage of the unlocked pitch. Pity the sunny sky turned to showers so quickly. Lucky its a winter sport and a little rain never hurt. #KeepHockeyAlive

25.01.2022 Super excited to see The Coffee Guy. Warrnambool at the pitch this Friday and Saturday for all of our games. Gary can supply you with all of your hot drink needs and maybe some nibbles too :-). Not only is Gray going to help out with the drinks, he has also generously sponsored 3 awards per game that will be handed out by the Coaches and to 1 lucky spectator. Great chance to grab a warm drink before you head home and support the little guy whos supporting us.

23.01.2022 Beach hockey in Warrnambool Something we need to try

23.01.2022 What do I say? Season 2020 is over. Again the government has taken it out of our hands and all thats left for me to do is say it in black and white. Im devastated for those kids who were enjoying their field time ever so much, whether it was the new players; learning the game or the senior players helping guide the juniors in their final season in their age group and everyone in between. The help to their health both mental and physical will be sorely missed but the bigger... picture is what we must look at here and understand for short term pain we get long term gain and we will be back next year, possibly over summer also depending on what restrictions we are limited by. Thankyou to everyone who worked behind the scenes and on the field/at the ground to get our juniors out there for the last 3 weeks and longer at training. Thankyou to the committee for your support, hard work, enthusiasm and positive outlook. I wont name names but they all know who they are because it seriously was a TEAM effort. Thankyou to the wider WDHA community and their assistance to freely adhere to our covid guidelines so the kids got to play. Thankyou and welcome to Portland for joining us in a short 2020 season, we would love to see you back next year. I have been so proud of all efforts this year and look forward to see what our hockey community can achieve in the future. Stay safe and healthy everyone Well see you all back out there as soon as were allowed Yours sincerely Sharyn Stevenson WDHA president

20.01.2022 To the WDHA hockey community We in the WDHA Executive/Committee are keeping an eye on the ever-changing Covid 19 climate and are making constantly evolving adjustments to our policies and procedures for our athletes, coaches, managers, umpires and families to adhere too. We are doing our best to make sure everyone stays safe. happy and healthy and we can continue to play junior hockey in Warrnambool in 2020. ... A special Thankyou to Mark Bridge and Greg Pickett for being the driving force behind these and the army of individuals helping to implement them at the WDHA ground. Thankyou also to the extremely flexible hockey community that have been open to our changes and compliant with our recommendations/rules for Covid 19 compliance and helping to stop the spread. We are extremely lucky in Warrnambool to have no active cases and fingers crossed that it stays that way. We have successfully completed two rounds of u14 and u16 juniors over the last two weekends and are looking forward to another round next weekend. Under 12s had 16 energetic and enthusiastic kids running around on the field last Wednesday and are all geared up to have another hit this coming Wednesday 4.30-5.30. #keepinghockeyalive in 2020. Hockey Victoria. Now for a quick rundown of scores over the past weekend. U14 Friday night 5pm saw Mariners take on Technicians and in a hard fought match, Technicians took the win 2 goals (Lachlan Robson, Alexander Stevenson 1 each) to Mariners 0. The 6.30 match saw the two Corangamite teams go head to head for the first time and they were evenly matched with the final score a reflection of that. Corangamite Lakers 1 (Lily Maskell) drew with Corangamite Blue 1 (Angus Murfitt) Techtonics has the bye. U16 10am match welcomed Portland for their second match on WDHA turf against Mariners. By all accounts it was a hard fought game also with Portland getting the narrow win 2 (Gabby Conheady scored both) over Mariners 1 (Conrad Negri) The Midday match saw the newly split Technique teams take on each other. Technicians (0) were unable to capitalise with their shots on goal and went down to Techtonics 4 (Callum Bridge 2, Harry Dodson 1 and Crystyn Baldwin 1) Thankyou to all the coaches, managers, umpires and support staff for working so hard to get our junior players out of the field each week. Stay safe and healthy everyone The WDHA Committee

12.01.2022 From the WDHA Committee to your family. May your silly season be safe, happy and healthy. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and Happy holidays to everyone else. Stay safe one and all and may 2021 be a great year for you all.

12.01.2022 Well, well, well one and all Thankyou to all who attended or sent notice of absences for the 2020 WDHA AGM because of you lovely people AGM 2.0 was run and done. Firstly we changed the setup of the committee. Previously we required a four seat executive with President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and then a group of individuals (two from each club) with no specific roles. ... NOW there is a seven seat executive required at all committee meetings and nine lower level chairs that are required to at least send a monthly report in to committee meetings and can attend if they wish. We aim to spread the responsibility of running the association around and make every club accountable to committee so as to ensure their participation and understanding of events within WDHA is known and relayed to their clubs by said person/people. The key executive is made up of at least one individual per club so every club is represented at committee level. Confirmed executive roles for 2021 are as follows: President - Sharyn Stevenson (last year & need an understudy) Treasurer - Neil Bridge (possible last year) Registrar - Kimberly Serra (last year & need an understudy) Secretary - Mark Bridge (possible last year) Junior Coordinator - Tim Tutt Senior Coordinator - TBC Umpire Coordinator - TBC Confirmed Key roles are: Child Protection Officer - Greg Pickett Publicity - Jemma Atchison Grants - Will Rundle Facilities - Justin Allen Social Coordinator - TBC School Roadshow - TBC H2H - TBC Canteen - TBC (Likely to be Tracy Bridge) Volunteer asker - TBC Thankyou to those who have taken on a role already and if you are interested in any of the roles available and/or your club is not represented yet please send your details to: [email protected] Or [email protected] The behind the scenes season 2021 setup is in full swing. We will have a couple of weeks off now before our first committee meeting Wednesday 13th January 2021, 7.30pm at the WDHA clubrooms. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to those who celebrate those holidays and may everyone stay safe in the holiday period and enjoy the summer. Kindly Sharyn Stevenson WDHA president
