25.01.2022 We have a lot of first time members signing up this year which is amazing to see. It's always daunting to sign up for your first triathlon, let alone the feeling as your first race briefing goes in one ear and out the other . Here are some of our committee members at their first triathlon. We would love for people to share photos of their first (or very early) triathlon.

25.01.2022 Great article in today’s Warrnambool Standard on one of our clubs up and coming junior Were looking forward to seeing Riley back out on course this year

25.01.2022 Congratulations to the 14 entrants in our Pre-Season Virtual Wangoom TT challenge . Great to see everyone back out onto the bike again, in the lead in to our new season. The magpies were kind to us - with no reports of swooping, which is always a bonus at this time of year Well done to Jason Hoy and Jenny Dowie for taking out the fastest Male and Female (pipped at the post this time Darty) Shout out to Natasha Cross preparing to make her comeback to Tri this season, a...nd welcome to Amanda Power entering one of our events for the first time Prizes for this round with thanks to Quick Spin Laundry go to Spud Hancock and Donna Lumb - who were most improved on their times from our first Wangoom TT back in April. Looks like some sneaky winter training has been happening - well done to you both, we will be in touch to get your prizes to you!

25.01.2022 Onto our Ultimate Performance & Rehab - Exercise Physiology and Pilates Bluehole Mini Series - Race 1 is on next Thursday evening, 7th January --- registrations are OPEN, please jump onto our Website and sign yourself up - individuals and teams welcome. The dads who compete themselves, who official and volunteer for us and the supporters who run alongside their kids encouraging them to be healthy and active We hope you had a wonderful day and can’t wait see you all back soon for the new season

24.01.2022 Getting closer to being able to bring you our season calendar for the coming summer. Our #1 priority is keeping our members and the wider community safe - so we’re busy understanding how we can run training and events that tick all the boxes Club Covid Safety Plan Training in Covid Safety for Sports Clubs Digesting the roadmap #safereturntoplay #wecandoit #dustoffyourrunners #pumpupyourtyres

23.01.2022 If you’re anything like some of us triathletes and have heaps of old runners lying around... too good to throw in the bin but just not that spongy any more - but not sure what to do with them? Bring them along to Killarney on the weekend Tanya Barker a Podiatrist at SW Health is aiming to collect and provide footwear to disadvantaged persons within our local community. Footwear for these individuals will not only provide them with a means of transport but also the ability to perform activities of daily living, for social interaction and to exercise for physical and mental health. Overall improving their quality of life So what a great idea to get rid of those old shoes guilt free and help locals in need See you Sunday

23.01.2022 With the Optus Killarney Tri on next Sunday - here’s a recap of club training sessions this week, if you are after some practice come and join us - all sessions are FREE Sunday’s Tuesday’s Thursday’s Note: this Tuesday we are swimming at Worm Bay between the Red Bouys - not at Aquazone, for some open water swim practice ... 21.01.2022 A little reminder about our Swim Leg as we head into our first event of the season this weekend at the Optus Killarney Tri. (If you havent registered yet, you have until 3pm Saturday to jump onto the website and do it - NO on the day registrations can be taken this season) Also a reminder - that we offer the Short Course option - this event is Non-Competitive, and perfect for those returning to the sport, or new to the sport. Swimming aids are perfectly OK for this event -... as it's all about getting out there and having a go! So if you want to wear flippers, use a noodle or a pool bouy - go for your life! We also have the crew from the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club in the water with us again this season - to make sure everyone is safe and feels comfortable, knowing they can put there hand up for support or if they're in need of a break We are super appreciate of the support they give our club!

19.01.2022 With in-person events kicking back off at the end of the month with the Optus Killarney Tri... now's the perfect time to come along and give a new sport a 'Tri' Come along to Aquazone this coming Sunday - to find out more about the sport of Triathlon, and have a go at putting all 3 legs together (Swim-Ride-Run). Suitable for total newcomers to the sport and our club, or a great opportunity for anyone to brush up on their fitness and gain some confidence before the first... race. 17.01.2022 With the weather warming up and the new season fast approaching, it's time we pumped up the tyres and dusted off the bike and hit the road for a Preseason Virtual Challenge - a Wangoom Time Trial (this is the same course as our first first virtual event earlier in the year). 16.01.2022 The Committee had our monthly meeting last night and here is a few updates on where our season is headed! Probably the only thing we know for certain is that COVID means we will need to be flexible and adaptable as the season goes, we’re up for the challenge and hope that you all are too Our Calendar of Events is having some final touches on it - before we publish it. Understanding the COVID restrictions around Individual Sports is an important part of this - and for the ...start of our season - this means changing some of our events to the VIRTUAL format until such a time that we can have more than 10 participants in our events. We will be aiming to bring you back in person racing as soon as possible - all registrations will all be ONLINE this year, and participants will be recommended to get in early in registering as some events may need to have capped entry numbers. Club MEMBERSHIPS will be opening soon - and we ask you to get behind the club and show your support - we will be offering a range of memberships including social and training which will both be FREE. Signing up before coming to any of events will be extra important this year - as part of the process we will run through how you can expect things to look a little different this year - what you can expect from the club - and what the club asks of you in return. TRAINING sessions - we are excited to be restating some club training in the next couple of weeks - keep an eye on the website for sessions as they get locked in! Attendance logs will be taken, and we may need to split into groups depending on how many turn up to make sure we’re ticking all the boxes And one more exciting update - We have some new Merchandise (including TriSuits) in the pipeline - with Barnsey finalising designs with suppliers at the moment - so keep your eyes peeled - you won’t want to miss out on these ones

15.01.2022 In need of some new sports gear in the lead in to the new season or making a start on your Christmas shopping - pop on out to Rebel Sport. The Tri Club is now part of Rebels community giveback program - so link up your Rebel membership card to the tri club (the friendly sales assistants can help you with this - when checking out ask them about it and tell them your a member of our club) - and the club gets some kickbacks for every dollar you spend

15.01.2022 Time for a Virtual Challenge for all the Juniors out there..... thanks to Alison Kenna for inviting the Tri Club to get involved with this one With remote learning ongoing, and school holidays coming up - here is a challenge for the juniors to get them outside and active. Submit your times each week to Alison - and let's see who can improve the most. We’ve extended the date through till when school goes back in Term 4! Tiah and Isabel Moloney from St Thomas in Terang have got involved - and they would love to see others join in too

14.01.2022 A few of us have been caught out with this one before! Also a quick note that the run from the Beach to the Transition at Killarney can be a little rocky under feet - so you can absolutely wear your thongs as you get out of the water and run back down to transition

14.01.2022 We are all set up and ready for tomorrow morning..... big thank-you to the crew who gave a helping hand today. Here is a Map of how our 2 Transition areas will work - check it out. We will have plenty of Volunteers on hand tomorrow morning, if you have any questions. ... Please rack your bikes in the positions marked on the racks with tape, place your gear neatly to the right hand side of your bike - and alternate sides bikes are placed along the rack. This will help to make sure we are all spaced out appropriately. Sign-in and collect your wrist band from 8am.

12.01.2022 We are excited to have the team at McLaren Hunt Financial Group onboard as sponsors of our club for the next 3 years With tax return time upon us - if you haven’t got around to doing yours yet and need a hand, be sure to give the team a call to line up an appointment Don’t forget to tell them we sent you, and to thank them for getting behind our Club

12.01.2022 Our annual ‘summer’ Aquathon was run last night in some trying conditions for competitors - with the wind blowing up and some choppy swimming conditions out the back #beaniesinsummer Impressively 67 participants still turned up to go around the course, made up of 37 individuals and 15 teams of 2 - one member the swimmer , one the runner Kicking off with a 1km run along the beach on the sand, up past worm bay and back again - followed by a 150m (+ some whoops ...) swim in the ocean. The aim was to go around the circuit as many times as you could, or you wanted to over the course of the hour. There was some strong competition at the front of the packs in both the individual and teams categories which is always hotly contested! In our teams division we had ‘Two Jocks’ (Isaac Jones and Jock Blair) across the line first with 9 laps, followed by ‘H & L’ (Heath Mack and Leigh Kane) across with 8 laps and ‘Team Pavilion’ (Jon Watson and Naticia Varley) coming in third place on 8 laps also. In the men’s individuals we saw Todd Dymke dominate in the swim legs coming across with 8 laps, followed closely by Ruben de Silva-Smith on 8 laps, and in third place Jason Morgan made his return for the season with 7 laps. The ladies division saw Kiarna Murfett across in first place with 7 laps, followed in second place by Sara Shiells on 6 laps, and also on 6 laps in third place was Liv Morgan. What a great day out for the Morgan family Everyone who went around the course yesterday , should give themselves a big pat on the back - it was great to see all the smiles and everyone having fun For all the results - please check out the link below Fingers crossed everyone had a long hot shower when they got home to defrost and warm up! Big shout out to our volunteers for this event, Kate Haberfield (Race director - thanks for all your hard work setting up this event for us Kate), Scott Barclay, Di Cooper, Jen Dowie, Lauren Edney and Nic Barnes. Shout out to Kathy Mcdonald for photographing our event And to all those who helped to set up and pack up (in the rain) - thanks to all, many hands make light work. We also thank the team from the Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club for giving up their time and for keeping our swimmers safe out in the water today Our clubs sponsors help us to bring you these events - Saputo Dairy Australia, Optus, UPR, McLaren Hunt Financial Group, Central Storage, WDEA, Warrnambool City Council and Moyne Shire - so we give them a big cheer out and thanks Next up on our calendar is the Ultimate Performance & Rehab - Exercise Physiology and Pilates Blue Hole Mini series run on Thursday’s 7th, 14th and 21st Jan.
