25.01.2022 Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. And it’s the first day of the United Nations 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based ...Violence. The true extent of the impact of family violence on the Victorian community during the pandemic will only emerge in the months and years to come. When we talk to communities and service providers about the pandemic, family violence is one of the first things they tell us is a major concern. We must act now to prevent further family violence and to provide adequate protection to women and children during this period. We need to support prevention, but also support victims, through crisis into recovery and through to independence. I co-chair Family Safety Victoria's Multicultural Family Violence Working Group, which is looking at a range of matters to support prevention and culturally relevant service delivery. And the VMC has commissioned research to explore and test innovative ways to provide more culturally responsive and inclusive family violence services during the pandemic and beyond. We look forward to sharing what we’ve learned. See more

14.01.2022 WASEMA recognises Pancasila Day. Pancasila Day is a new official public holiday in Indonesia, having been declared such by the sitting president Joko Widodo in 2016. However, Pancasila Day has actually been celebrated since 1945, though it was not a non-working day. ... June 1st was chosen for the observance because it is the day in which Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, gave a famous speech on that day in 1945, wherein he outlined five principles by which the new nation ought to be governed. Sukarno referred to these principles as pancasila because, in Indonesian, panca means five, while sila means principle. June 1st is also the day on which Indonesia declared its independence from the Netherlands, after Japanese forces surrendered to the Allies at the end of World War II". #PekanPancasila #PancasilaDay #Indonesia #WASMEA #WomenofWASEMA
