21.01.2022 Reliving past experiences can play a profound somatic response in our bodies. . . . #watchyalanguage is written with the intention for you to get to know your brain, your reactions & choices, so that we can empower oursleves to change.... . . This includes understanding about how our bodies are responding to emotions, thoughts, trauma, external triggers & feelings that have a physical reaction in the body. .. .. When we feel threatened, just like instinctively we will close, the amygdala fires a message of danger that can override the present part of our pre frontal cortex & we(frustratingly) react rather than respond. . . We move directly into fight or flight. We are VERY familiar with how this feels. The eyes widen , our shoulders tense, our beats faster and we feel nervous, flushed and at the ready. When we are in our sympathetic nervous system, our digestive & reproductive system temporarily shuts down. . . So things (quite literally) get stuck. If we are reacting constantly to the same thoughts, people and experiences, if we continuously live in our thoughts of should, could or would, we shut down our digestive system constantly & physically we are going to have issues that can be unexplained, repetitive or show up for no reason at all. . Same goes If we remain in judgement of oursleves feeling shame, guilt or denial of something that has happened in our past . If we truly tune in and allow ourselves to try and remain present when these uncomfortable situations arise, we may be able to really pay attention that when we feel fear or unworthiness, we experience back pain or digestive issues, we might be able to sense a tensing of the shoulders and closing of the heart when we feel grief, pain or a deep sense of not feeling enough. . . These are incredible messages from our bodies that there is something that we need to dive into and feel to heal... the body will always be your biggest teacher but we must learn to listen and be still In order to take on board what it has to say on a daily basis. . . Instead of reacting and giving it attention , use the messgae with a new train of thought. Ok.. I see you, I feel you, what do you need to heal?

19.01.2022 How powerful are our thoughts and words... . . . L I F E C H A N G I N G ... . My thoughts and words for over 25 years were so damaging, hurtful, doubtful and harming to the girl who was just dying to be accepted, heard and nurtured. . The little girl that took on board a belief at an early age that she was not enough took this beleif to the extreme chasing perfection, competition, and acceptance for most of her life... . She battled with herself on how she looked, how she behaved around others, didn't speak up for fear of judgement, did all she could to be liked by others and was constantly chasing more.. . Oh...and she never cried.. always showing her tough side... . She kept chasing the below... . To win at everything To succeed and move up the ladder A better body A slimmer waist Less calories More weight lost More likes on social media A label, a status, an expectation . . . The more i practiced the thought's of never feeling enough the more my mind became messier and messier until I broke. . I couldn't think I couldn't read I struggled to sleep My anxiety was through the roof I lost my periods My digestion was up shit Creek My hair was falling out My back was constantly in pain I was bloated... all the time I had no energy I woke up drained, exhausted, over it and didn't know what gratitude meant. . . I was a product of my thoughts and words... just like this experiment that @masaruemotoofficial did in the 90s observing the physical effect of words , prayers, music and environment on the crystalline structure of water (see 2nd and 3rd images) As you can see... the results speak for themselves.. . . I feel so blessed that I was able to turn around my own darkness and lean towards light. It still gets tough from time to time... but I now have a chocie as to how i respond to each and every situation...and i always choose kindness... as there is no other way. . . . 2 spots left only. No wonder we feel so much pressure to change our bodies, skin, face and authentic selves just to achieve more likes, shares and validation on the socials... .... . These images are constantly flooding our social media making us feel inadequate as we are. That conditioning is happening steadily underneath everything. Add on the anxiety we feel at school or work, shame or guilt and stress and high pressure at work and where do our thoughts and actions go. .. . Eating disorders, mental health, body Dysmorphia and depression is at the highest ever and here we have people who have the power to help send a message to us all that choose to send qn image that resembles the "ideal" body so guess what .. in the back of our minds we continuously think we are not enough as we are. . . . I feel sad for these Influencers, its nothing personal and I believe that in the world Kendall grea up in, she knows no different than an image based presence The scary question is where do you go from here? 16.01.2022 Pay attention to how you choose to react or respond today. . . By choosing to sit in the uncomfortable and let it unfold we have an opportunity to let it be as it is, and let it move through us. .... . When we let oursleves experience it now, it means we do t hold onto the moment and it doesn't become stuck inside. . The more we hang onto an experience (good or bad) we create a string of thoughts... you know the ones, "what if I had said this, or done that... maybe it might have been different etc" this holding onto creates energy to hold onto it all! The more we think about the past or worry about the future (what hasn't even happened yet) causes unnecessary wasting of energy! We are meant to flow like water... too many blockages will not allow energy to flow . That's on us and we can do something about it by choosing not to give it our attention by statying in this very moment. . 15.01.2022 HOWS YOUR VIBE? WHAT YOU PRACTICE IS YOUR REALITY . . . I practiced all of the below for over 25 years... maybe you resonate?... . Self sabotage Body Shaming Self hate Low self opinion Unworthiness People pleasing Doing doing doing Numbing feeeligs/emotions Being strong Judgement Blame Shame Criticism The constant need to be right Punishment of my physical body by starving, vomiting, drugs, alcohol & cutting. . . I'm on here to openly talk about & discuss eating disorders, body image and what we can do about it. Because if i can be where im at now , you can too! Firstly, #eds are no ones 'fault and no one is to blame. I believe Our experiences growing up and impressions or trauma that happens as we are kids play a huge part. We push down the feelings that hurt & pretend they are not there. We can almost wish them away for a few years.. . . These samskaras remain blocked until we allow ourselves to let go of that old beleif or story. In my opinion, they play a huge part in our decisions & choices as kids, teens and adults as to how we choose to see ourselves, our Bodies and how we choose to treat them. . I upheld a mask of perfection & toughness growing up , not much was talked about & I never really knew how to cry. I learnt to hold it in. (Soldier on) I strived to be the best, so I learned to constantly search for more. More popular, more likes, more competition, more things & stuff, more acceptance from others, then more weight to lose, more bones to show, & a constant image to chase... . . Even in my early 30s I was still searching for an imgae of perfection, craving to be felt "proud of", & had a deep dark feeling and beleif of not ever being enough and a "failure" . . These deep dark thoughts became me. My mind was like a tangled cotton ball, I couldn't sleep, my body suffered huge trauma and everything I saw was almost grey, dull, unimportant. Life was shit because I kept telling myself that it was. . . It took time. It took presence. It took commitment & it took many fuck ups at trying to change my own language. But it works. 14.01.2022 Yoga helped my TRAUMA. . . Healing is a beautiful, challenging and unpredictable road. And its one that has no time limit, no expectations and no right or wrong way. .... . I never used to stop. I would constantly be on the go running and numbing from all the feels that I could because it was too hard on my heart. . . All the built up stories and beleifs that I had stored during my 25 year experience and gift of eating disorders, were always trying to come up, but, on auto pilot of response, I rapidly pushed them back down in order and hope that they would not return ... . . I think we all know that that is not the case...no matter how much we deny it, those deep stored impressions will be the major cause of stress, illness and dis-ease in the body if that energy is not let out and freed. . . I don't necessarily like to use the word forgiveness, as it almost suggests you are forgiving a wrong doing, just keep it simple and start to practice letting go. . Start with the small stuff.. the driver who cut you off the bloke or girl that just jumped on your gym equipment you missed out on a spot at yoga you had the same argument with your dad again you found out that you didn't get the job . . Guess what... it wasn't meant to be , that's simply it! And like anything, lettign go is a praxrice. Do it regularly each day and notice how much easier it becomes to start to let go of the past and the old stories associated with it. None of it matters, you are here now, and it is what it is. . 11.01.2022 Dive DEEPER into You ... for YOU. . . Watching our language is a constant practice. Its the WORK. .... . If you are training for a triathlon... you have to get on the track, the water & on your bike otherwise one element of that race will be weak. . . If you are practicing music, you must get familiar with the chords, the notes and how it feels and sounds before creating your own music or piece. . . If you are a child learning to ride a bike... you are goign to experience the falls, the tears, the stacks amd joy that all come with the consistent practice of learning to ride on two wheels. . . We will stay stuck for as long as we choose to stay stuck. Over time we have built these walls around us. Walls of safety, security, comfort, what we know and 'are good at' and as humans we crave knowledge, change and growth. . . So naturally as humans we start to challenge these walls, we move within the box we have created and as we get closer to the walls, the fear of uncertainty , failure, judgement and expectation starts to interfere. . We retreat away from the wall and move back into what we call 'comfortable' .. the daily grind & a life of 'its ok' . . For most of us we crave the above.. the unknown, the excitement, the freeness that the other side of these walls can offer us but we are too scared to move through them as they are painful. . . Childbirth (they say) is one of the most painful experiences you will ever go through... but women do it anyway as the rewards outweigh the pain. . Physical training & fitness can be challenging & push us to our limits...but we do it anyway as we know when we finish we feel alive. . Tattoos & piercings hurt like hell, but we choose to decorate our bodies with them as we express ourselves. . Why do we block ourselves with our own labels, limitations and old beleifs that are MOST CERTAINLY NOT OUR TRUTH ANYMORE, & hide behind them staying in our comfort zone .. that to be honest gets more and more uncomfortable the more you fight the resistance... . 11.01.2022 You can't WILL forgiveness...but you can be WILLING . @tarabrach . .... . In my own book #watchyalanguage, my story 4 is revolving around Shame, guilt and Blame. . When I was in these states my ego would not let me see anything other than the pain i thought was caused from the things around me. I didn't realise my problem and inability not to feel was within, not on the outside. . . I truly believe now that forgiving self and others is our key to freedom. . Our true self ultimately knows that this is where we can find content in our heart... but it can be a really challenging and difficult hurdle to overcome... especially if we have been practicing words that are shameful to ourselves, or feeling guilty or blaming the self and others for our external outcomes. . Over the next few posts we will discuss this little topic. As (most often) there are boundaries that need to be put into place for forgiveness and acceptance to truly and wholeheartedly take place. . Have you ever felt so hurt or scared of what lies underneath blame, shame and guilt that we essentially put up an armour to protect ourselves like I did? . What would it be like to experience true forgiveness for yourself? To release the hold of shame, guilt and blame and let it go for good? . I promise you we have all had stuff... and I bet you've held onto it long enough... give yourself permission to have the intention to forgive. 05.01.2022 How's your HIPS? . . . Firstly, im so grateful for all my movement teachers and mentors over the years that have helped me understand my own spine , feet and hips through fluidity and suppleness. ... . . From this point I share a little something that is inspired by my mum after her recent 2nd hip surgery. . . We tend to move in such a linear pattern and the hip joint has such a connection with the foot, that when you work on one aspect, you are helping the other... or vice versa. . . What j mean by that , is that if you are not aware of the orientation of how you walk, how the foot connects with the ground, and the tripod of the foot, your knee and hip will follow suit. . . Pay attention to your feet and start to reactivate the layers of muscle that are under the foot, and you start to have better balance, you strengthen your gluted and you open your hips creating hip torque... just from the feet. . . What we practice grows stronger, changing habits and patterns is hard, as we have sometimes practiced wearing shoes and sitting since we were in kinder... but all that is learned can be unlearned if you have the will to do so. . . This is a very gentle routine incorporating foot function and balance, and allowing the hip joint to move in all three planes of movement to create space around the sacral area, groin and lower back. . . This is also really great for low back pain and no impact at all. . Thanks mum for giving this a go. Consistency is key though and this is where we fall down many times as we get bored with the process. Yes its hard , and yes it takes work, but it's harder to stay the same if the pattern you are in is limiting your movement. . . Soften your body and movements, you will soften your mind . 04.01.2022 Your Monday question? . . . .... Welcome to Story 4... #watchyalanguage BLAME, SHAME, GUILT...choosing to Play the victim . . . I feel this whole story is going to be finished today...nearly halfway there peeps! Yeeewww I don't know about you, but im so excited for this to be finished. I feel its so in flow at the moment and its happening all around me as I write. Waiting and trusting the timing of the universe was key for these words to come out. . . . This is a big story and one id like to dive into with compassion and non judgement, its more a question of what responses are we choosing to mask our old pain or trauma that come out as blame. . When @oprah spoke on childhood trauma, when someone is being bullied by another, we need to ask the compassionate question, are you ok? Recognising that they are masking their own pain and hurt by hurting others. . @jayzz_official says this.(not word for word) if we are bullied by someone and they inflict pain on us, let's respond with ... "oh you were bullied as a kid, and now you're bullying me. I understand" Soften the blow... offer compassion , ask the question... "aw man... are you ok" . . When we offer vulnerability in the face of blame and understand that under that layer there is a deep sense of fear and uncertainty, we can give permission for the other person to lower their shield and feel the pain underneath the response pattern. . . Try your best to understand that people's response can be a shield or a mask for what lies just underneath the surface . 02.01.2022 Choose your response wisely... . . If someone throws pain, hurt, judgement or blame to you... there is more than likely pain, shame, hurt, guilt or suffering underneath their protective armour... .... . To interrupt your pattern of response, and give yourslef the tools to react differently, try pausing, taking a deep breath and responding in a way that is nurturing to both of you.. . Gently dropping your own guard and seeing if they are OK beneath the reactivity when you do this, you show your own vulnerability and offer them permission to do the same. . Do things that connect you back with Nature. . Here are a few tips to help you move through with ease and flexibility. . Take your shoes off and feel the earth move slower and mindful rather than fast and busy be here now by focusing on your breath whenever the mind goes yo the past or future. .. its irrelevant eat foods that ground you. Root veg, nurturing whole foods, nutrition that makes you feel good from the inside out. pause to meditate or simply practice breath for 5 or 20 mins do some yoga practice balancing AND OF COURSE... be kind to yourslef if we feel a little messy... accept that we are exactly where we need to be without fighting it. . . In the workshop yesterday a big one that came up to the question.. "how do you want to feel" is happy. . . We all know that the "ill be happy when story" never gets us anywhere. So you have a choice to be happy with what we have... right now . When we are grateful and accepting for whats right here...more of that will come. . . The @dalailama states that if we base our happiness on things, status, money, a body, our label, skin colour, what we own, career or a person... we will never find happiness... it must come from within .. . .
