25.01.2022 Summer rafting. All the best for the new year!

25.01.2022 Girl power! Spirits are high - just about to raft 'Thunderush' a Class IV rapid in the Great Ravine. Whitewater grades from I (easy) - VI (extreme) are used to describe the nature and difficulty of a single rapid or a stretch of a river. Class IV (advanced) implies intense, powerful but predictable rapids requiring precise boat handling in turbulent water. #rafting #whitewater #rapids #FranklinRiver @Tasmania @Australia

24.01.2022 Some goodies! Thanks The Barefoot Perspective

24.01.2022 One thing we love so much about the Franklin River is that it is never the same for long. The little video below was taken on two days of the same 10 day trip. Feb 23 and Feb 28, 2020.

24.01.2022 Celebrate the centenary of national parks in Tasmania with free entry over the school holiday period, 24 Sep. to 9 Oct. 2016. Share the wonder!

23.01.2022 These little beauties are going to be flowering again soonish along the top end of the Franklin River. The alpine Finger-orchid (Caladenia alpina) grows in a range of habitats from medium to high altitudes.

23.01.2022 A magical place. Our last Franklin River Rafting trip of this season starts tomorrow. It's been fantastic. Thanks to everyone! #franklinriver #rainforest #worldheritage #waterfall #discovertasmania #nature

23.01.2022 Great bunch of guys on a picture perfect river trip. A good start to the season. Thanks to everyone! Looking forward to the next one leaving on Friday, Nov 25.

23.01.2022 Some nature shots - the temperate rainforest along the Franklin River is loving the rain and putting on a display.

22.01.2022 On one of our recent Franklin River Rafting trips we observed this little fellow busily munching away, undeterred by our presence. #franklinriver #wildlife #fauna #nature #Tasmania

22.01.2022 A good river is nature's life work in song. Mark Helprin, Freddy and Fredericka Some of our Spring 2018 Franklin River rafting trip highlights. It's been a great season so far. Thanks to all the intrepid rafters and our guides. Be safe out there!... Happy New Year!

21.01.2022 The source of the Franklin River...

21.01.2022 The adorable and intricate red flowers of the Tasmanian waratah (Telopea truncata) adorn the banks of the Franklin River at the moment. A member of the Proteaceae family, the name Telopea is derived from Greek telopos, meaning "seen from afar" - a reference to the conspicuous flowers. #FranklinRiver #flowers #Tasmania

21.01.2022 The turning of the fagus. One of Tasmania's peculiarities, captured by wilderness photographer Wolfgang Glowacki. Fagus is short for Nothofagus gunnii, the only deciduous native tree in Tasmania. It is a rare plant, growing mainly in high rainfall areas in the central and western mountains of Tasmania. According to fossil records, the fagus of today has not changed much in the last 35 million years when it was part of the flora of the Gondwana supercontinent. A hardy little survivor.

20.01.2022 Creepy crawlies getting intimate... So this is what's going on in those numerous caverns along the Franklin River and elsewhere in Tasmania.

19.01.2022 Very nice Tassie made produce! Wicked cheese has been a much loved participant on many Franklin River Rafting trips and very rarely made it out alive the other end...

17.01.2022 "Adopt the peace of nature: her secret is patience." - Ralf Waldo Emerson A little bit of patience certainly helps when #platypus spotting - in Serenity Sound (Great Ravine) on the #FranklinRiver. #Tasmania #Australia #wilderness #rafting #ralphwaldoemerson

17.01.2022 It is always a delight to see one of these creatures.

16.01.2022 Just returned from an amazing 6 day full Franklin River rafting tour. Optimal water levels meant that we paddled sensational world class rapids for 2 days, then spent 2 days relaxing, eating and watching a spectacular high river from the warm and dry overhang at Newlands Cascades camp. Day 5 Double Fall and Big Fall provided excitement on the way to the yacht Stormbreaker.

16.01.2022 Over the past 40 years, our t-shirts have taken pride of place at rallies, blockades, and occasionally, in the back of a police van. Now you can own one of our reissued vintage campaign tees for yourself: shop.wilderness.org.au/40th

16.01.2022 let the Franklin flow let the wild lands be the wilderness should be strong and free from Kuta Kina to the south-west shore has to be something worth fighting for

16.01.2022 Time to dig up some old gold. Scotty and crew going for Thunderush in the 'Great Ravine'. #franklinriver #Rafting #whitewater #Tasmania #Australia

15.01.2022 Our Franklin River rafting season is kicking off this Sunday. We can't wait to get out there again. Might not be this sunny but the forecast is looking pretty good for SW-Tasmania. #rafting #Tasmania #Australia #FranklinRiver

15.01.2022 An important piece of Franklin River history. One of the first motion pictures of a Franklin River expedition. This brilliant footage by Paul Smith got lots of people interested and motivated to follow in Paul and Bob's footsteps and experience the Franklin River for themselves.

15.01.2022 Thanks Anthony Coulson!

14.01.2022 We are looking forward to rafting the Franklin River from late September. Please call us anytime to discuss our flexible booking and cancellation policy as we emerge from the COVID lockdown. Cheers Brett and Klaudia.

12.01.2022 A short video of last season as we are looking forward to get out on the Franklin again on October 2. There are still a few places left on this 7 day full river tour and plenty of water on the West coast should ensure easy paddling. franklinriver.com

07.01.2022 Great effort by our guides Scotty Hall and Blake Miller

06.01.2022 The Franklin River carves its way through some of the most beautiful, rugged and inaccessible wilderness in the world. Its significance was recognised in 1982 when it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Area. Rafting the Franklin River is one of the best multi day rafting trips in the world.

06.01.2022 Franklin River Rafting season has started once again. The happy rafters on our first couple of trips enjoyed great medium water levels and quite a bit of sunshine. The wild West of Tasmania at its best after a nice winter break. Our next trip departures are scheduled for Nov 4-9 and Nov 11-17, 2018. Call us anytime on 1800-1111-42 The easiest way to book is on www.franklinrivertasmania.com

05.01.2022 A little indulgence. Sundews (Drosera) supplement the poor mineral nutrition of the soil they grow in with their carnivorous eating habits. Their stalked glands excrete sweet, sticky mucilage to attract insects and ensnare them. Also they secrete digestive enzymes. Sessile glands suck up the resulting nutrient soup. This one is an alpine sundew (drosera arcturi) growing near the summit of Frenchmans cap in SW Tasmania. #foodie #meatlovers #Tasmania

04.01.2022 A river seems a magic thing. A magic, moving, living part of the very earth itself. Laura Gilpin

04.01.2022 Cheers to the blockaders

04.01.2022 The Tasmanian Waratah (telopea truncata) is flowering all along the Franklin River at the moment. Eye candy all round.

03.01.2022 Atmospheric vistas in the Great Ravine. This one is Coruscades rapid, a nice run at medium levels. #FranklinRiver #tassiestyle #landscape #seeaustralia #discoverTasmania

03.01.2022 A tribute to Tassie west coast legends Joy Chappell and Anthony Coulson

02.01.2022 Experience the serenity of remote wilderness. Inspired by our last two trips with perfect water levels, this one is for the adventurous.

02.01.2022 Some professional footage from the Franklin River. Thanks so much to Balkan Rivers Tour. Can't wait to see some more of it tonight at 18.00pm at FIND YOUR FEET

02.01.2022 White-bellied Sea-Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) A common sight on the lower reaches of the Franklin River. A skilled hunter that feeds mainly on aquatic animals (fish, eels) but takes birds, mammals and carrion as well. They build a large stick nest high up in trees, which is used for many seasons on succession. The female does most of the incubation with the male helping out occasionally. They are the second largest bird of prey found in Australia, the largest is the Wedge-tailed Eagle, which stands up to 1 m tall. Conservation status in Tasmania: vulnerable

02.01.2022 This is fascinating! by the Bookend Trust.

01.01.2022 Mouth watering.

01.01.2022 One way to finish a Franklin River rafting trip - a little hike and then an exciting 4WD ride from Mt McCall - by Roamwild Tasmania.
