25.01.2022 Weve teamed up with Murdoch University and Pemberton District High School students to study and protect the lamprey - an endangered ancient lineage of jawless fish. Several studies on the lamprey have reported a decline in numbers, which researchers suggest is likely to be the result of overfishing and climate change. Our team were recently out at Lefroy Brook Weir with a group of the school students to begin monitoring the lampreys as they begin their migration season. Learn more >> https://bit.ly/35VOkYz

23.01.2022 Can you solve the picture puzzle below?
23.01.2022 Did you know that wastewater is actually 99.97% water? We treat wastewater to remove all other matter so it can be recycled for industry use, irrigation of gardens and parks, and be further treated to drinking water quality for groundwater replenishment. Over the last 10 years we've increased the total volume of recycled water by 70% across the state. Increasing the amount of water we recycle is vital to help WA become more climate resilient. 22.01.2022 Earlier this year we called on WA based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, to help us build our water knowledge through art. By understanding the important relationship between Aboriginal people, water and Country, we can in turn inspire water appreciation in our community. After receiving more than 40 applications, this week we unveiled the four artworks reflecting the different regions of Western Australia and their connection to water. #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe

22.01.2022 Our Perth metro dams collectively have the capacity to hold more than 630 billion litres of water. Dam volumes are currently at about 48% full, but what's actually filling them? In response to climate change, our dams increasingly store water sourced from desalinated seawater and groundwater, as inflows from rain (aka streamflow) continue to decline. 21.01.2022 Biosolids are produced from wastewater sludge. They're rich in nutrients and organic matter making a great natural fertiliser and soil improver. We supply biosolids to farms around Moora and Dandaragan to help grow crops such as this canola. Investing in wastewater treatment processes that produce useful, renewable by-products, such as recycled water, biosolids and energy sources, is one of the ways were reducing our impact on the environment. 19.01.2022 In response to changes in our climate, where our water comes from has also changed over the years. We now source 40% of Perths water from underground aquifers, but we also recycle water to put it back into the ground. This is a recharge bore at our Advanced Water Recycling Plant that puts the water from our groundwater replenishment scheme, into the aquifer. The pipe goes down 220 metres and has small holes on the bottom half that evenly distribute the water. Learn more >> https://bit.ly/WC-GroundwaterReplenishment
19.01.2022 Contrary to popular belief, dams don’t act as bowls that catch rainwater. With consistently less rain, our parched catchment areas absorb most of the water before our dams have a chance to reap any reward.
18.01.2022 Here's a look inside our Perth Seawater Desalination Plant. Seawater is pumped into the desalination plant from the ocean, passing through pre-treatment filtration to remove most of the large and small particles. The filtered seawater is then forced through reverse osmosis membranes, inside the white tubes pictured. The membrane pores act as tiny strainers to separate salt and microscopic impurities, before the water is further treated for drinking. Learn more >> https://bit.ly/WC-Desalination
