25.01.2022 Northern Griffin, or "Grumpy Griffin" as he is affectionately called is the holsteiner stallion in our logo. Griffin, who turns 27 this year, spends his days happily watching the comings and goingings from his "centre stage" paddock. He gets excited about warm porridge for breakfast, carrots, and pretty fillies walking by. His pet hate is being moved from "his" paddock, but he gets especially grumpy if his breakfast is not "just right". Stay tuned for more little snippets about Griffins adventures. 22.01.2022 BUTTONS & BREEZE Little Breeze who was sadly rejected by his mother came in to The Mare and Foal Sanctuary at only a few hours old in 2013 and needed round the ...clock care. To keep him company, he was given teddy bear called Buttons, who was welcomed by the foal and became a constant companion. 3 years later - Buttons the Bear is still at the Sanctuary and has been helping other orphaned foals since Breeze by providing comfort and companionship. The two were recently reunited and Breeze had a fantastic time carrying the bear around his stable, and then settled down for a snooze with his old friend snuggled up by his side. See more

20.01.2022 A very bittersweet week for all of us. We lost a very special horse on Tuesday. Saxons Patch was born at Waterford on 24th September 2009 and sadly died on Tue...sday this week after foaling the most beautiful long-legged chestnut colt. She was, by any measure, a magnificent mare who was admired by all who passed. An incredible race horse, too. Her Ascot win was a spectacular athletic feat. To our amazing clients: the Noonan family, and their trainers Gary and Sharen Crispin, while words can offer little consolation, Peter and I are so sorry for your loss. "Saxy" was part of the family and will be sorely missed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing community for rallying together to find this beautiful strong colt a foster mum. He is an incredible foal - who took his first breath before he had his front feet on the ground, and who was walking around just minutes after he was born. It is our wish for you Paul, Tony and Gary, that he grows to be the winner of all winners creating a great legacy worthy of Saxons Patch. See more
