20.01.2022 Medical Alert: Novel Coronavirus Telephone appointments are now available to ALL patients of Watersprings Health Centre! Yes we are staying open and still taking face-to-face appointments when it is needed for your care we just ask that you call first so we can book you in at the appropriate time. We understand how difficult it must be for those of you needing treatment for health issues especially our elderly and those who are struggling with mental health or domestic viole...nce. Although things are a little different with how we ‘see’ you at this time we are here to support you as much as we can. Telephone appointments are available for any health needantenatal, chronic disease, mental health and also just the standard general appointment you may need during the coming months. Please don’t think we are too busy for you or that your health needs are not important as we give time to help each other stay well and supported throughout this pandemic. Choose ‘Telephone Consultation’ when booking online, making sure your mobile number is entered correctly or if you think you will require a face-to-face appointment please call reception directly on 3341 7244 and our staff will be happy to help. In accordance with Australian Public Health advice, Watersprings Health Centre asks that any individuals who have any cold or flu like symptoms: fever, shortness of breath, sore throat or cough or have travelled recently or been in contact with a case of Coronavirus, DO NOT ENTER THE CLINIC but please call the medical centre on 3341 7244 before arrival so that the appropriate infection control measures can be put in place and people can be directed to the best place for testing and treatment. If possible we advise travelling with a mask on. This coordination between providers, hospitals, and public health is critical for our continued effort to best respond to and reduce transmission. This is a rapidly changing situation both abroad and domestically, and we are still learning. Let’s remember this virus is identified within the past few months and there is much we don’t know yet. Where can I get more information? Visit the Australian Government Department of Health homepage at www.health.gov.au Call the National 24/7 Hotline on 1800 020 080. In Qld call 13HEALTH (13 43 25 84)

19.01.2022 Please be advised Energex have had to cut our power for safety reasons due to an accident. They have estimated it will be out for about an hour but cannot guarantee a time. Unfortunately this means our phones are not working but we will do our best to keep you posted.

18.01.2022 To kids, button batteries might look a bit like lollies or coins, and can be very easily swallowed. But when mixed with liquid, they can literally burn a hole through the esophagus, stomach and bowel. Be aware of button batteries lurking in gifts this Christmas Kidsafe Queensland

18.01.2022 Could it be heat stroke or heat exhaustion?... We compare the differences, what to look for and what to do. With this heat, this is an extra important read.

16.01.2022 Christmas and the holiday season can be a joyous time, but for some it can be stressful and can take a toll. Follow these tips to help take care of your mental wellbeing throughout the holidays

15.01.2022 A 20 second hand washing routine is all it takes to stop germs in their tracks. If it's been a little while since your last hand wash, you know the drill

13.01.2022 We all have a role to play in maintaining social distancing when we're out and about. The choices you make today could have a serious impact on your health and ...the health of your loved ones. If you were Jack, which choice would you make? Jack's at a cafe and he's just finished drinking his coffee. Should he A) join the queue even though there are already too many people in it who aren't socially distancing OR should he B) sit back, relax for an extra few minutes and wait for the queue to ease up before joining to pay his bill?

13.01.2022 We get this question a lot, especially following the requirement for people to wear face masks in other parts of the country. Face masks can be a useful measur...e to help control sustained community transmission. Sustained community transmission is when we have multiple cases of locally acquired COVID-19 where contact tracing and testing is unable to identify how the person was infected. At the moment, there is no evidence to suggest that Queensland has any sustained community transmission. If you live in the greater region of Brisbane, a face mask might be suitable if: You are in a situation where social distancing cannot be maintained, i.e. public transport or a busy shopping centre If your GP has told you to wear one If you are caring for someone who has COVID-19 If you are attending a GP clinic, hospital or ED If you are sick and getting a COVID-19 test Face masks alone will not protect you from COVID-19. It is also vital that other COVID safe practices are followed, including: Washing hands often and thoroughly Maintaining a social distancing Covering coughs or sneezes Staying at home if unwell Getting tested if you're showing any signs of COVID-19.

12.01.2022 Always cover sneezes or coughs with tissues or cough/sneeze into your elbow Ensure appropriate hand hygiene after disposing of tissues

10.01.2022 It's hot, hot, hot in the sunshine state! Before you go outside, slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen (30 SPF or higher), slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses

08.01.2022 We have received so many lovely comments from Queenslanders across the state, wanting to help members in their community at this time. Introducing the 'self-qua...rantine assistance card', created so you can help those around you! Whether it's picking up milk for a friend who is self-quarantining or buying a few extra groceries for your elderly neighbour, these cards might be a lifeline for someone in need. #ViralKindness Simply print out and complete the card, and then place it in the letterbox or slide it under the door of those around you. If someone requires your help they can reach out to you on the number provided and then you can leave items on the doorstep to avoid direct contact. Visit to download the card: www.qld.gov.au//coronavirus-covid/find-the-facts/resources

08.01.2022 Been in a situation where someone is invading your 1.5m bubble, but you feel weird asking them to move? Why not use this conversation starter as a way to make the situation less awkward! #COVIDConvos How have you reminded someone to socially distance?

06.01.2022 If it's been a while, let this be a reminder to go and wash them right now A 20 second hand washing routine could help make us all healthier! Wash hands with soap, especially before eating, cooking, or feeding others to prevent the spread of germs
