19.01.2022 Tonight it was my honour and privilege to place the mayoral chains on Cr Garry Thompson as he assumes the office of Mayor for the City of Boroondara. It is my h...onour to support Garry in the role of Deputy Mayor. This is first time Boroondara has had a Councillor act in this capacity and I will do my very best to serve our new Mayor, Councillors and the community to build a better Boroondara. See more

18.01.2022 As the Council term draws to a close it was wonderful to be part of the Boroondara District Scouts ARAP 2020 with Cr. Garry Thompson and Cr. Phillip Healey to celebrate another successful, albeit unusually challenging year of scouting in the City of Boroondara. Great to hear the reports from the youth who displayed their leadership skills in leading their groups in many different activities. Congratulations to the scouting community on finding innovative ways to stay together, focussed and engaged. #scouts

07.01.2022 Tonight I took the oath of office to serve the City of Boroondara as the Councillor for the Maranoa Ward. I, Cynthia Watson, swear by Almighty God that I will undertake the duties of the office of Councillor in the best interests of the municipal community. I will abide by the Councillor Code of Conduct and uphold the standards of conduct set out in the Councillor Code of Conduct.... I will faithfully and impartially carry out and exercise the functions, powers, authorities and discretions vested in me under the Local Government Act 2020 and any other Act to the best of my skill and judgement. I look forward to working with my fellow Councillors for the betterment of the Boroondara community.

06.01.2022 Congratulations Ben Fu on an outstanding performance in the Boroondara Eisteddfod Piano Concerto final.

05.01.2022 When you stand as a candidate you don't stand alone. I want to say a heartfelt 'Thank You' to my family and friends who have helped in so many ways. Every act o...f kindness, word of encouragement and hours of letterboxing has been appreciated very much. I could not have run a campaign without you. Nothing says 'thank you' quite like homemade cookies so although it is a small gesture, I hope you enjoy them with a hot cuppa. See more

03.01.2022 With the Council term coming to a close, I want to end as I began thanking the residents of the Maranoa Ward for the honour it has been to represent you on Coun...cil, work together on issues big and small, and be part of making the City of Boroondara a better place. I want to thank my fellow Councillors for their friendship, guidance and support over the past four years, particularly this year as I have served as Mayor, to meet the challenge presented to us with a global pandemic. I would like to acknowledge the excellent staff and exceptional support of the Executive Leadership Team at Boroondara led by our excellent CEO Mr. Phillip Storer. Their frank and fearless advice, and professionalism help us to make better decisions with the community the central focus of everything we do. Three Councillors are retiring at the end of this Council term and I would like to thank them for their long and distinguished public service as Local Government Councillors. Congratulations Phillip Healey, Cr. Coral Ross and Cr. Jack Wegman who have collectively served for 53 years and 10 mayoral years. Good luck with your future endeavours. On November 16th the City of Boroondara will welcome a new Council and I want to wish them well in their leadership of beautiful Boroondara. See more
