25.01.2022 A special feathered patient dropped in, a injured Wedgetail Eagle found by a roadside. We took some Xrays and tried to see if there were any life threatening injuries (thankfully not!) apart from the damaged tail feathers and scrapes. We did find a large paralysis tick on his/her head, whether or not this weakened him/her and he/she got bowled over? The crop was full of food, might have been eating carrion on the roadside and got hit? We gave him/her some subcutaneous fluid, and some different pain killers, and some Dr Time recovering for a hopeful return to the wild skies!

23.01.2022 Ticks are about! We found this one on a cat that was showing hind leg weakness and panting heavily (classical signs!). The rain from the last week has really flushed the ticks out! Please make sure your pets prevention is up to date & actually kills ticks! We send out text reminders when they are due to help remind you!

19.01.2022 Cool pets. Not hot pets! Please ensure all your pets are kept cool, hydrated and out of the heat during this heatwave! Have lots of accessible cool water available for pets indoors and outdoors (wildlife will be struggling in this heat as well!). Excersize them early in the morning or later at night. Signs to watch out for are: - Restlessness - Excessive panting or drooling -Redder gum colour -Sweaty paws. And if severe they collapse! ... Short faced dog (and cat) breeds are at a significantly higher risk due to their narrow airways becoming obstructed by their swollen tounges! #wauchopevets #wauchope #wildlife #pets #heatwave

19.01.2022 Listen here, gross alert! Lend me your ear! This is an aural haematoma (a blood filled ear lobe) where a blood vessel under the ear skin has burst causing the skin to pull away from the ear cartilage. Any trauma, scratching and ear shaking can cause them, so ear infections often lead to them "blowing up"! If the blood is not drained promptly (within 24-48 hours) it gets worse and leads to bigger issues and shrivelled up ears (like old rugby players!). This dog had a mass...ive one that we surgical drained before suturing the skin down back onto the cartilage, as well as treating the massive yeast infection in the ear canal (the original problem that lead to the haematoma). If you notice your dogs ear swelling up, get them to your vet sooner rather than later hoping it goes away! See more

19.01.2022 Itchy itchy itchy! Nelson the Guinea Pig was scratching himself to bits. Michael suspected mites and managed to find the culprits under the microscope; sarcoptic mange mites. Thankfully they are treatable (and Nelson is already better!) and importantly they are not the same species that can affect humans or dogs!

18.01.2022 We are having phone issues, please call 0428851626 to contact us today! Sorry

06.01.2022 Our staff are our backbone. The dedication, care, nurturing, jokes and support them have provided to our team, our patients and all our pet owners is endless! There are always some tough, upsetting, difficult and disruptive situations we come across every day in our work, it's much tougher that anyone realises. Our industry is having a very difficult time with mental health, burn out and it's virtually impossible to find new vets due to these issues! So, our staff must and do come first! We need to celebrate the good wins, so please let our staff know your appreciation! Ps, all our girls love chocholates, otherwise we share and discuss all the reviews we get!
