23.01.2022 Dear Members, With the Government imposed six-week lock down for metropolitan Melbourne, WBA has suspended all basketball-related activities from Wednesday the ...8th of July until further notice. Unfortunately, this means that the Winter 2020 season for both Junior and Senior domestic competitions has now been officially cancelled. Following this, Basketball Victoria has announced cancellation of the VJBL and BIG V representative competitions for 2020 in the interest of public health and well-being. As announced prior, the NBL1 season has also been cancelled. We understand that these decisions will bring great disappointment across our community and we share this disappointment with you. However, the health, safety and well-being of WBA members and the greater community remains as our top priority. We will return from this time away bigger and better as we combine forces with the Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Five brand new courts will be included as part of WBA’s Summer competition. Although, this has now been postponed, our stadium is ready to go and looking great for when we finally return. 16.01.2022 VJBL Tryouts for the 2021 season are almost upon us!! Tryouts, like many things, will be different to previous years. Please read the below carefully, to make s...ure everyone is well prepared for the trials: - All players MUST register prior to the first tryout date. Registration will close November 30th @ 5pm - if registration is not entered by this date your child cannot attend tryouts. Follow this link to register NOW: http://waverleybasketball.com/rep.aspx - No parents will be permitted in the stadium during tryouts. - Doors will open 10 minutes prior to the session commencing and all players must exit the stadium within 10 minutes of their session concluding. - All players will have their temperature checked and must sanitise hands upon entry to the stadium. - All players are expected to bring their own basketball and drink bottle to each session. All balls must be sanitised prior to the session with the wipes available court side. All sessions to be held at the Waverley Basketball Stadium. * All sessions and dates are subject to change based on Basketball Victoria and the Victorian governments rules and reccommendations. * The allocated times allow for COVID-Safe cleaning post & pre sessions. * Tryouts for U/21s will be announced at a later date subject to government regulations. Rep Ready Sessions will run the weekend prior to tryouts commencing. Dates and times are currently being finalised and will be advertised shortly. Players registered for the VJBL tryouts are strongly encouraged to attend an 100% skill/funda...mental session day - this will ease athletes back into basketball after the extended time away. The stadium will open 10 mins prior to session time. Players must bring their own basketball and drink bottle.
