22.01.2022 On day! Possibilities abound. Wanderlust. #covidtravels #oneday

22.01.2022 Man and dog - a love story. Remi is the new bookshop dog. A big, uncoordinated bundle of joy. He has a few phobias, like stairs and refusing to walk at odd times. At the park he managed to run into the ball and get a whack in the eye. With a little whimper he pancaked on the grass and refused to walk. How to get home? Uber dog car summoned. That's true love. Thank you @s_rhall_studio for spreading the joy. #thingsyoufindinbookshops #dogsinbookshops #dogsofinstagram #lovestory #spreadingjoy

19.01.2022 UPDATE: many thanks to @miker1509, history buff, who discovered an amazing amount of info. It appears that the card writer is Ernest S Riley who enlisted in March 1916 at Ballarat, aged 18.5. He had been trained and sent to France by the time he wrote the card (Nov 1916). He spent some time in England with trench foot, and possibly pneumonia. He was killed in action on October 3 1918, just over a month before the end of the war and within days of his battalion being withdrawn. His brother Cornelius was was also killed in France in April 1917. Tragedy unearthed from a small card in a book. History brought to life. Thank you @miker1509

16.01.2022 Frankie, the new bookseller at Wayward, says goodbye to 2020. Thanks for all the positivity and support during this difficult year. Stay safe and happy. Bring on the new year!

13.01.2022 I've had dogs in my life since infancy. Never a year without one. Of all my dogs, one of current ones is the dumbest. Flibbity is gorgeous but thick. She has never shown any interest in books until yesterday when she took to one in particular. Sniffing, pawing, getting up close and personal. Couldn't have picked a more suitable title. #dogsinbookshops #dogsofinstagram #appropriatereadingmaterial #selfselection @ Wayward Books

13.01.2022 Missing having a local newsagent (Marie and Wal you've left a big hole in Racecourse Rd). Have discovered that I don't need to be a newsagent to get copies of Quarterly Essay - now available at Wayward. Could get Meaning too - let me know if you're interested. #quarterlyessay #notanewsagent #stilllearning

12.01.2022 What do you for an anniversary celebration in the time of corona? When you live above a bookshop you have a romantic dinner in the bookshop of course. #loveinthetimeofcorona #notcholera #we'reinthistogether #notgrim #funinthebookshop

08.01.2022 I love the flashes of invention and community that have come out of this pandemic. Yesterday I bought a book from a vending machine in Carlton. The machine is a community/ trader enterprise. Not only did I get a book. It dropped down with a $5 Gift Card from Readings! Also in the machine are goodies from La Mama, the Poppy Shop, Heart Attack and Vine Bar, Agostino Wines and many more. Thank you @readingsbooks for all you do for books, reading and community. #innovativepandemic #shoplocal #communityeffort #independentbookshop

06.01.2022 Beautiful little books. Gilt edges, ribbon marker. Macmillan classics series. I do love a small book. #classicbooks #lovelytolookat #lovelytohold #shoplocal #booklove @ Wayward Books

05.01.2022 A little heartbreak on a Wednesday afternoon. In a pile of old books, mostly awarded to Lily and Violet Tait by the Sabbath School of Ballarat North between 1907 and1915, loosely inserted in A Daughter of the West, was a Field Service Postcard. It is a form card, cross out what you don't want, write only your name and date on the back and receiver's name and address on the front. Private Rowley hasn't heard from Lily Tate for a long time. He can't write anything here on threat of the card being destroyed. Dated 6th November 1916. Lily was still at the Sabbath School in 1912. #thingsfoundinthepagesofoldbooks #youthandwar #firstworldwar #controlledcommunication #lilytait #privaterowley @ Wayward Books

04.01.2022 Please tell me Grace. I don't seem to have the time to read this. #lacking #wonderwhy
