23.01.2022 Getting ready for the prawn season. Putting chain on nets. Prices for the 2019/2020 season. Double Diamond netting 12ft nets starting from $300. Other brand netting 12 ft from $250. 10ft nets $225. I make bullseye nets in a 3 or 5 ring pattern and all nets have 3mm gal chain on the bottom and are top pocket nets only. All nets come with 10m of throw rope. I make heavier nets (6.5kg upwards) which start from $300.

23.01.2022 Just in time for the prawn season Aldi has a vacuum good sealer on sale. $39.99. A good unit.

21.01.2022 Hard work this morning at Nudgee. Lots of boats out with lots of people throwing. The usual mosh pit with boats racing off to the next likely spot. I don’t think anyone got their 10 litres. I got about 3 litres. Some were absolute stonkers, bigger than 20 cm. The best went 24 cm and weighed in at 71 grams. I hope it keeps up. Now back to repairing nets.

20.01.2022 Just finished a 5 ring top pocket net. It has 3mm gal chain as the weight line and weighs in at 5.4kg. It will have a 10 m throw rope attached and is ready to go. $280.

18.01.2022 Hit the pine this morning for the prawns. On the water at 5.15am. Saw the beam trawler heading up to the hole past the pine river bridge. Nothing showing at the castle hill hole. About 10 boats at the elbow 1 and 2 per cast. We went to the slabs. All by ourselves 4 and 5 a cast until a second boat arrived then they shut down. Tide turned and the other boat left. We found a few on the outer edge of the hole but they kept moving. Ended up with about 3 litres of medium to large. Good boilers for lunch.

18.01.2022 Finally caught up on net orders from last year and making nets for the upcoming banana prawn season. I have a couple of 12ft top pocket 3 and 5 ring bulls eye reduction nets made and ready to go. My prices have not changed from last year, as I am still using netting that was purchased last year. At some point my prices will go up. Prices for a 12ft top pocket net with 3 mm gal chain as the weight line start at $250. I see from Sammy Hitzke Fishing that there are some prawns starting to show up already - check out his latest video. I will be trying to get out on the Pine this weekend to see if there are any prawns about. Message me if you have any questions about the nets I make.

17.01.2022 Had a try in the pine this morning. It has a bit of fresh in it but the water is still green. Most holes have a thin line of prawns in them but they are small. The best I did was about 75 mm. A few more weeks will improve them. The beam trawler was working one hole in the south pine. Only a few smalls from what I could see. Even the fishing was a bit average.

17.01.2022 Just putting the chain on the cheapest 12 ft 5 ring top pocket net I will make. It is Haverford Double Diamond netting and has been made using offcuts. It will still be a good net and a bargain at $250. A 10m throw rope will also be attached.

15.01.2022 Just finished a 12 ft 5.9kg top pocket net. It is made from double diamond (Haverford) netting. 3mm galvanized chain on the bottom. It is a 3 ring bullseye pattern and has a 10m 6mm throw rope. $330.

13.01.2022 Lots of boats out from Nudgee this morning. Well over a hundred. Most were well behaved but there was the odd ..... use your own words that would roar past a couple of meters from you whilst you are standing and about to throw the net. Madness. If you could get away from the mosh pit you could pick up a few each cast. All were good size. Some good meals in that esky. Stay safe everyone and keep up the social distancing.

13.01.2022 Prawns for bait over autumn and winter was sorted this morning. 5 boats or so were at the elbow in the pine river for the low this morning. I got what I needed in a couple of hours. Had a feed of boilers for lunch. I have just finished a 5 ring reduction or bullseye top pocket net. 12 ft drop. 3 mm gal chain on the bottom. The net weighs in at 5.3 kg. 11.01.2022 Another 12 ft cast net ready for sale. I just finished putting the chain onto the net. Bring on the prawns after the recent rain.

07.01.2022 I spent a few hours last night having a break from making nets to sell to make sure my net is ready to go for the coming Banana Prawn season. All little holes an a few bigger ones are patched, all pulled meshes have been released and repaired. Bring on the Prawns. Today I will be back making top pocket nets ready to sell. 06.01.2022 Only smalls and mediums at pelican park (clontarf) this morning. Some good shows of absolute babies as well almost a meter thick. It was hilarious watching them skip through the net.

05.01.2022 It was good to get out and chase some tasty banana prawns. They are in the pine but you have to work for them. I never got my 10 liters, they are small to medium with a few large in amongst them. The are very tasty with homemade seafood sauce.
